CIA FBI NSA Personnel Active in Scientology

This Library article examines a document listing government intelligence personnel within scientology. This document was seized as part of the FBI raids of the Guardian’s Office of the Church of Scientology in July 1977, and then entered into evidence as part of a court case against Guardian’s Office personnel dubbed The Go 11.

Analysis of CIA Agents

Now we will begin analysing each name on this list to see what they were doing in scientology.

We’re going to start with the CIA agents at the Church of Scientology Washington D.C. but first a little background information is in order.

.

Background

.

This organization was first named Founding Church of Man’s Religion in 1955.

Nick Bruce

.

evangeline-bruce-david-nicholas-and-sasha
Nick is laying on his mother, sister “Sasha” seated below him.

The first important thing to know here is that Nicholas “Nick” Bruce is the son of long-time British boot-licker and intelligence man David K.E. Bruce.

In 1978, People magazine did a write-up about the suicide – and now suspected murder – of Nick’s sister Alexandra (nicknamed Sasha).

Sasha’s husband Marios insisted that her death was by suicide because of her less than ideal family life.

Was Sasha’s death, then, by her own hand? Police thought so at first, and Marios insists that a pathological family life drove her to suicide. 1

But, in the same article People magazine documents something else that Marios charged.

In the same letter, Marios charged that brother Nick gave large amounts of money to a religious group “to detach himself from the ties of his family…1

Over at the ex-scientologist message board, a very long topic thread called FCDC circa 1970 discusses this very same Nick Bruce. Remember – FCDC stands for Founding Church of Scientology in Washington D.C. This exactly matches the heading that Nick Bruce was placed under and designated a CIA agent.

Also, we’re dealing with a thread title that refers to 1970, but yet this document listing him as a CIA agent was as current as 1974. Something to ponder in light of the next allegations – which are:

One poster asks

Nick Bruce – wasn’t that a $200K refund cycle?

A “refund cycle” is a reference to a person who had donated money for auditing and then asked for their money back.

Another posting expands on this

*Nick Bruce (donated $100k or so, as well as paid for a shitload of auditing, and had Wisner switching auditors on him constantly, mostly new ones, then routed off as connected to world banker father – not FCDC’s finest hour)

His world banker father?

And yet…this document we are examining specifically lists Nick as CIA not “son of world banker”.

This ‘world banker’ allegation sounds like a shore story to me. A misdirection, perhaps.

Jumping ahead a bit now – I’d like to do the Mayer-SFO name on our list.

SFO being the acronym for the Church of Scientology organization in San Francisco, California and the area it “serviced” which was most of Northern California.

Mayer appears to possibly be a reference to Scott Mayer, a man whom most Scientology-watchers knew as a critic of it back during the 1980’s, although it’s not for certain.

I offer the following research for readers to look things over for themselves and make their own determinations.

Scott A. Mayer was born on July 25, 1943 and died on October 3, 2005.

The following are videoed statements by Scott Mayer.

The first are from BBC (1987): “Panorama – The Road to Total Freedom?” – a listing of youtube videos found here.

Part 3

INTERVIEWER: You were in the Intelligence Division of the Guardian’s Office of the Church of Scientology. Did you have access to people’s personal confidential files?

SCOTT MAYER: Oh, certainly, certainly.

INTERVIEWER: And was use ever made of that information?

MAYER: Every mission that I ever went on, I used it.

INTERVIEWER: What did you do?

caption–”Scott Mayer, former Scientology Intelligence Agent”

MAYER: Well, when we’d first come into an organization we would have the preclear folders of people that were involved in the organization that had maybe given the organization some trouble; pulled and culled for things that they may have done and were hiding, and that information would be brought to their attention in order to kind of bring them back into the fold, so to speak smiling.

Part 4

INTERVIEWER: How do you think Hubbard succeeded in getting so many thousands of people to take his courses and to go on taking extra courses and spending more and more money?

caption–”Scott Mayer, Ex-Scientologist

MAYER: smiles The first one’s free, the second one costs you. Like a seco–an extended sting operation. At first you get lots more than you ever thought you were going to get–real changes take place in your life. But as you go up the so-called “bridge”, you no longer get the benefits and then you’re told it’s because of things that you’ve done in your past, the wrongs that you’ve committed against mankind. Of course, you have to sign up for more auditing to find those things and handle them.

A little later on –

INTERVIEWER: What made you leave the church?

MAYER: The fact that I had gone all around the world in various organizations and I knew that monies were being used, not for the benefit of mankind or the parishioners of the church, but for the benefit of Ron Hubbard and his minions.

The second video evidence is from A&E Investigative Reports on Scientology; originally broadcast December 14, 1998, originally archived by Mark Bunker.

The show was uploaded to youtube into segments, I have cued them right to the relevant parts by Scott.

Part 3

SCOTT MAYER (caption–”Scott Mayer, fmr. Sea Organization member”)(voice of and on camera): We all heard him from time to time, screaming and yelling on the ship at somebody. He had an incredibly fierce temper. Anybody at any time could be put down in the bilges, or put up on the rails and tossed overboard. I mean, somebody would fish them out, but it was mostly the humiliation factor, of being, you know, like the old walking the plank.

stationery with letterhead “Operation and Transport Corporation Limited” from Panama

VO: Supposed illegal activities onboard the ships were also revealed.

apparently Hubbard and another person on board the Apollo

SCOTT MAYER (voice of and on camera): Telex transmissions were used to set up funds smuggling, and he had a couple million dollars in the strong box right on the Apollo.

Note the two pictures submitted by Scott of his time being a Captain for L. Ron Hubbard.

These –

scott_mayer_a_and_e_image_provided_2

Those pictures are going to be quite important a little later on here.

Part 4

SCOTT MAYER (caption–”Scott Mayer, former Scientologist”)(voice of and on camera): The last time I saw him [Hubbard] he was shaking, virtually uncontrollable, he was kind of dithering around trying to explain something about the sunlight.

Part 6b –

SCOTT MAYER (voice of and on camera): You know, people were living in misery. They weren’t getting what they were supposed to be getting, which was spiritual enlightenment. I never heard the word “God” used once in all of that time. I never saw a church service. All I ever did was see people worked into the ground to make money for Hubbard, and after a while, I just couldn’t stomach it anymore. I had to leave.

Another part –

SCOTT MAYER: You know, I mean, I made it through Vietnam, I’ve made it through more… I should have been dead years ago. If I go now, I go now, you know. But if I can do something to keep someone else from getting hurt or someone else from being conned, someone else’s life from being messed up by these creeps, I’m more than willing to do it. It’s a small price to pay. That’s the way I feel about it.

Filmographer Mark Bunker has archived some of the documents seized during the FBI raid on the Church of Scientology in July of 1977. In one of the documents, titled: Kember Exhibit 2 it discusses the internal procedures for establishing the identity “cover” for an intelligence agent running operations for the intelligence bureau of the Guardian’s Office.

Note point 13 –

  1. Remove all records of the agent ever being on any org or mission lines.

Another document archived titled: GO Invest Methods also discusses the lengths this goes to.

(GO = Guardian’s Office, Invest = Investigations)

On page six of this document under the heading Security of Penetration People (meaning agents who are going undercover inside the “enemy”) we see –

1. Have all folders pulled on person and stored in safe location or in GO including personnel folders, ethics folders, pc folders. Have person removed from any mailing lists. Notify [GO United States] US to have this done in other areas, include ASHO, AO etc.

2. If needed do up a dummy ethics order and have a copy printed for you and person backdated declaring them, etc.

If you look here – you won’t see anything for Scott Mayer, nor does his name come up in any of my other documents or periodicals that record scientologist “completions”. The above may explain why there appear to be NO RECORDS of Scott Mayer having ever done any courses or training in scientology. (Another example of this records purging is long-time covert agent scientologist Nancy Many.)

Whatever the case may be with Scott, the fact is that things get a lot more complicated fast with this guy. He used multiple names during his life. There is some evidence pointing to that as a scientologist, he had another name, another complete identity that he went by at one point in his Scientology career, including working in intelligence of the Guardian’s office. One that had sufficient documentation that he could get not just one, but TWO legal marriages on the books.

If that’s true, then this would not be your average intelligence cover. No. This would have required high-quality fake ID’s, history, etc. – a whole different ball game than just some throwaway fake identity that would never stand up to any real scrutiny.

What was this other name I refer to?

Herman Mitchell Spence

On that note, let’s dive into the research.

black scroll divider

Boats, Guns, Drugs, and Money

It is only through extensive research (and this was one of the hardest so far) of Scott’s family tree, with a bitty piece here and a bitty piece there, that I managed to unravel what the heck is going on with Scott and his multiple names.

We’ll start with that.

Scott’s Family tree, in brief.

Scott’s real name was Harry Albert Mayer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on 25 July 1943 and died October 5, 2005 in Everett, Washington.

MR. MAYER: I know what street I was born in Chicago.

MR. HATCHETT: All right. Can you —

MR. MAYER: I went to school through I fought my way to school through your neighborhood. 2

This is his grave marker, and the page discussing it notes that it is: Marker only, ashes scattered. Marker shares plot with Albert and Lillian Hickstein and Lillian A. Mather.

harry_albert_scott_mayer_grave_in_wisconsin

His gravestone is in Waupaca, Wisconsin. The reason for that is that his mother Lillian Augusta Hickstein Mayer Mather lived there at 2224 N Shadow Rd. She was born June 23, 1922, she died 4 Jul 2014 in Waupaca, Wisconsin.

Scott also has a veteran gravestone marked as follows –

Name:     Harry Albert Mayer
Service Info.:     RDSN US NAVY VIETNAM
Birth Date:     25 Jul 1943
Death Date:     5 Oct 2005
Cemetery:     Tahoma National Cemetery
Cemetery Address:     18600 SE 240th St Kent, WA 98042-4868
Buried At:     Section N Row C Site 25

Ref: U.S. Veterans Gravesites, ca.1775-2006.

The other people his stone was put next to in Waupaca, are his grandparents on his mothers side – Albert and Lillian.

Scott’s half-sister Amy Eklund wrote about his grandfather Albert Hickstein in 2014.

amy-mather-eklundAlbert was born 12 October 1890 and grew up in Black Earth, Wisconsin. He played professional baseball for a time before settling in Chicago. He worked for the rest of his career at Belt Railway of Chicago in the rail yard. He retired to his tree farm in Waupaca, Wisconsin. He passed away in 1972.

Albert married Lillian Schlichting on September 20 1921, at age 20 in Chicago. Lillian was born November 2, 1900 to Henry John Christian Schlichting and Rosa M Schlichting (born Falzbot) and Lillian died in 1953. (obituary)

Scott Mayer’s grandparents Albert and Lillian.

albert-and-lillian-schlichting-hickstein-1940-maternal-grandparents

Scott’s mother Lillian Augusta Hickstein married three times. The first was to Scott’s father, Harry Robert Mayer, the second was to someone with the last name of Hamacek, and lastly to Robert W. Mather (born 1920’s).

Scott’s father, Harry Robert Mayer was born December 2, 1921 in East Chicago Heights, Indiana.

Harry’s parents were Mary Anna (Maria) Kello, born on November 8, 1895, in Slovakia and died on November 8, 1984, in Salinas, California; and Joseph Stephen Mayer born on September 15, 1894, in Budapest, Hungary. By 1917, Joseph was living in East Chicago, Indiana, in 1917. Joseph died on April 5, 1968, in Hopkins, Michigan.

Scott’s father died January 31, 1991 in Santa Clara, California even though his residence was Hamilton, Montana.  He is listed as Career Army a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) having something to do with Korea. He was buried in Watson Michigan at the Scared Heart Catholic Cemetery, so I presume he was Catholic but I haven’t verified that yet.

harry_mayer_cwo_us_army_korea

Scott has one sister, Lillian, still living.

Pic of Scott (right) his baby sister and their Mother, probably from late 1940’s.

lillian-mather-with-albert-scotty-and-lillian-melodi-scotts-mother-and-sister

In one of his many public statements, Scott said that his father Harry was in intelligence while he was in the Army, and that he had also been part of the “honor guard” security at the Nuremberg trials.

Those are the guys that wore the white helmets in famous pics like this –

nuremberg-wwii-trials-honor-guard-company-d-white-helmets

Scott also said that his father was an intelligence advisor to the Joint Chiefs – which would be after 1947, one presumes, when that committee became official under the National Security Act.

MR. LeCHER: That’s a good answer.   One final one: What would you compare this organization to?

MR. -MAYER: I think it’s I think it’s you have to realize something: My father operated in the intelligence community. I have told him stories that, when I first started getting the heavy training, he was just — I mean, he was shocked at what I was — how I was being trained. We would sit down and go over how those techniques were the same — my father did security for the Nuremburg trials, so he’s no slouch. You know, he was an intelligence advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon.   I have never had any problem asking him questions about  whether or not this was intelligence technique and getting an answer out of him. He wrote some of the training manuals, all right? So, you are dealing with an organization that has taken the most effective techniques of all the intelligence services, not only taken those techniques and used them to train their own personnel but, then, taking those personnel and putting them into those organizations as operatives. 2

Timeline

scott-mayer-timeline-image

Now that we have the basics of who Scott was, birth, etc., we will begin looking at a timeline view of Scott’s life and other correlating events.

1959 –

Real name being Harry Albert Mayer, the man we know as Scott A. Mayer is living in Wisconsin. Scott gets a social security card issued in a false name – Albert Harry Mather – which was the married name of his mother, at the time.

Ref – U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007

Who does that at age 16? His father had to have had some involvement with that, is my guess.

Could he have been recruited into intelligence that young? Who knows. Something was wrong here though to be using fake names that early.

1961 – April 21

Scott enlists in the Navy. 21

Name: Scott Mayer
Gender:            Male
Birth Date:        25 Jul 1943
Death Date:      5 Oct 2005
Cause of Death:   Natural
Branch 1:          NAVY
Enlistment Date 1:  21 Apr 1961
Release Date 1:    15 Jul 1965

HOWEVER –

He enlisted under his REAL name – Harry Mayer – and it’s pretty interesting that the Veteran’s BLS doesn’t show that. Remember, he just got a social security card in the name of Harry Mather, so we have three different names in play for this man, already, at this time.

Putting together several of Scott’s statements on the matter –

Prior to joining Scientology, I had been in service in the United States Navy in Vietnam where I developed electronic warfare talents, other electronic talents, navigational talents and learned docking an aircraft carrier electronically in totally inclement weather. I was also experienced with self-defense weapons and martial arts. Even when I was in the United States Navy, I had always wanted to captain a ship. 14

I had taken aircraft carriers through renovations while I was in the service. 2

Mayer, who, while in Vietnam, piloted the flagship aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet 20

At one time, during the Vietnam War, I was on a navigation team flagship in the Seventh Fleet and used to run aircraft carriers in and out of various harbors around the world, so I had quite a bit of ship experience when I was first exposed to Scientology. 2

And especially because of this obscure posting in a newsgroup that I found –

While aboard the U.S.S. Bennington, then Flagship for the 7th Fleet, during the early years of the Laotian & Vietnamese “police actions”, I met a fellow poet, named “Patrick Henry” McElroy.  It was Patrick Henry who “busted” me on being a “reactionary”. Patrick Henry didn’t just write things because he was brilliant, as most of you out there are, Patrick wrote because he wanted his writing to help change conditions in life for the better.  He knocked me right out of my self-centeredness, and right into participation in making things better for everyone.

I managed to track down the major details Scott kept leaving out.

It was in June of 1959 that the aircraft carrier USS Bennington was re-designated as an anti-submarine warfare carrier. CVS-20.

uss_bennington_cvs-20

The Bennington has a rather colorful history, including being involved in a collision (resulting in replacing the captain) in San Francisco bay in August 1960.

Major damage to the USS Edwards – a destroyer.

Caused by “the elevator” of the USS Bennington, which had fairly negligible damage in comparison.

stz-destroyercollision-800-03-bennington

uss-bennington-collision-with-edwardsimage caption from hereWe then looked up and there were the Edward’s torpedoes hanging from the bottom of the elevator

Shortly after this it was used as part of filming a movie with commedian Jack Lemmon called: The Wackiest Ship in the Army.

A sailor who was there  –

They spent 2 whole days filming the 15 minutes of the movie. We put to sea in the middle of the week just to make the film.

IMDB “Goofs” commenter

The carrier from which Crandall [Jack Lemmon] flies at the beginning is CV 20. This is the USS Bennington…

It was filmed while the Bennington was at Pearl Harbor, so that was probably late December 1960.

* * *

Scott kept referring to that when he enlisted in 1961, he was on a ship that was the flagship of the “seventh fleet”. The problem is that “the flagship” of the 7th fleet at that time was the USS Kittyhawk – the ship my husband happens to have been serving on in an above top-secret intelligence capacity right at this time, as well.

It kept not making sense to me because I knew Scott wasn’t mucking around just randomly allowed to be piloting a ship of that size, as he also claimed.

I think I have figured out why Scott refers to it this way. It was a bit of a play on words on Scott’s part because the ship he was on, the Bennington, acted as the flagship of the Hunter Killer group of the seventh fleet, not the flagship of the seventh fleet. If you follow me there.

Once I sorted that all out I was able to find him on the crew list at a wonderful website that’s all about the Bennington. Note: Even though it doesn’t have the dates accurate for when he started because he enlisted in April of 1961 so I’m sure that even with boot camp etc. he would have been aboard some time in 1961.

Record Number = 1808
LAST NAME = Mayer     FIRST NAME = Harry     Division = Operations     On Ship = 1962-1965

Notice it has him listed as in Operations – as in CIC. This was the same are that Mike (my husband) was in on the USS Kittyhawk from 1965-1967, which I thought was an interesting coincidence.

Anyway, the website linked to above had a Welcome to the Bennington book from 1961 (which is when Scott said he started) that shows the Operations area and also the Navigation area which Scott probably also crossed paths into – what with docking the ship in bad weather and all (as he says he did). Scott, or rather Harry, was part of Antisubmarine Warfare Group FIVE.

As Scott said –

I had taken aircraft carriers through renovations while I was in the service. 2

Although his possessive frame of it was rather arrogantly stated, the Bennington did indeed go through a six month refit from September 14, 1963 to March 31, 1963. One of the things that they did was upgrade the sonar – as pictured here:

bennington-sonar_installed-1962-500

From the timeline page of the same website we can see that Scott was involved with multiple ops that the Bennington was sent on, and traveled to some interesting places, including stopping by Alaska just after the refit.

A gorgeous and eery pic of the Bennington coming into Juneau, Alaska in 1963 –

bennjuneau63-1

Scott’s last trip would have started on April 13, 1965 when Rear Admiral Robert A. Macpherson, Commander, Antisubmarine Warfare Group FIVE, embarked in BENNINGTON.

…Ten days after leaving Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the ship arrived in Yokosuka, Japan, which is a large Naval Base just inside Tokyo Bay. The primary purpose of going to Japan was to report to the Commander of the Seventh Fleet for duty as his Antisubmarine Task Group.

…We are now in Manila Bay anchored in view of the city and Corregidor Island, the fortress of World War II.

Ref – USS Bennington (CVS-20) Newsletter 19 April 1965

They would have been reporting to the Commander of the Kitty Hawk, the new extra-large aircraft carrier that had joined the United States Seventh Fleet on 7 October 1962. It became the flagship then, relieving Midway.

The Bennington arrived back at Long Beach, California on October 7, 1965.

1965 – July 15

Scott Mayer gets out of the Navy, but per his own words, he continued “in Vietnam” for another two years. Doing what? That’s a good question.

Name: Scott Mayer
Gender:            Male
Birth Date:        25 Jul 1943
Death Date:      5 Oct 2005
Cause of Death:   Natural
Branch 1:          NAVY
Enlistment Date 1:  21 Apr 1961
Release Date 1:    15 Jul 1965. 21

We now know from the Bennington timeline we can see that it wasn’t even close to the U.S. at that point (July). Judging from where the ship actually was in July of 1965, it sounds like Scott started his “other” work by disembarking in either Bangkok, Thailand or Subic Bay, Philippines.

Who knows, maybe he hooked up with Terrence Burke, CIA man in Thailand and Laos at the time, as their actions are going to be rather coincidental in a number of areas once Scott (Harry) hooks up with Ron Hubbard and scientology.

From 1960 to 1969, Burke was a CIA intelligence operations officer, based primarily in Southeast Asia. (Thailand, Laos, etc.) helping to facilitate the trafficking of heroin into the United States. After that lovely betrayal of humanity, Burke then becomes a covert CIA agent with a cover of working for the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs – the BNDD (created by Nixon in 1968).

Harry/Scott’s gravestone says he was in Vietnam until 1967, but he was released from the Navy, as we know, in 1965. And just after this, like only one year after that, Scott begins playing the name-invention game again. I hate to say it, but that sounds like standard CIA black ops cover-building to me.

What would have been Scott’s motivation, if he was working with Burke and the CIA after he left the navy? I would say that is contained in his words here –

Obscure posting by Scott

While aboard the U.S.S. Bennington, then Flagship for the 7th Fleet, during the early years of the Laotian & Vietnamese “police actions”, I met a fellow poet, named “Patrick Henry” McElroy.  It was Patrick Henry who “busted” me on being a “reactionary”. Patrick Henry didn’t just write things because he was brilliant, as most of you out there are, Patrick wrote because he wanted his writing to help change conditions in life for the better.  He knocked me right out of my self-centeredness, and right into participation in making things better for everyone.

Put another way, saving the world from themselves – aka Operation Gladio support in so-called ‘anti-communism’ activities. It’s certainly right in line for what was really going on in Vietnam, the real purpose of this ‘war’ there.

– – –

At this point you really need to get something very clearly, because the plot begins to thicken immensely. Scott was out of the navy in 1965, but remember, he never enlisted or was released under any name of ‘Scott Mayer’. That name never existed until exactly just before he ‘joins’ scientology.

Check out this gravestone in Lower Amherst Cemetery, Amherst Wisconsin –

harry_albert_scott_mayer_grave_in_wisconsin

Notice anything?

It says he was in Vietnam until 1967, but he was released from the Navy, as we know, in 1965. And just after this, Scott begins playing the name-invention game again. I hate to say it, but that sounds like standard CIA black ops cover-building to me.

But, what’s that RDSN3 mean on his gravestone?

RDSN is the Navy designation for Radarman. Once assigned to a ship or shore station, the radarman was required to operate and maintain the installed radar and electronic warfare equipment.

Check the name –  H. Albert Scott Mayer.

Well now, look at that. More name variations.

The progression of his names so far is:

  • 1943 – Birth certificate, Harry Albert Mayer
  • 1959 – Albert Harry Mather is the first name that he filed for a social security number as at age 16 in Wisconsin.

The following information is from searching the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007 claims for Albert Harry Mather.

Name: Albert Harry Mather
[Scott Alb Mayer
[Scott Mayer]
SSN: 397403884
Gender: Male
Race: White
Birth Date: 25 Jul 1943
Birth Place: Chicago Cook, Illinois
[Chicago, Illinois]
Death Date: 3 Oct 2005
Type of Claim: Original SSN.
Notes: Sep 1959: Name listed as ALBERT HARRY MATHER; Feb 1973: Name listed as SCOTT ALB MAYER; 08 Aug 1991: Name listed as SCOTT ALBERT MAYER; 22 Mar 2001: Name listed as SCOTT A MAYER

Adding to the further shell game here of Scott’s names, of course, we also have his gravestone name of H. Albert Scott Mayer, with the death date of October 5 (not 3) 2005, which matches the Dept. Veteran Affairs listing. See Scott’s family tree at the beginning of this section for more.

The most important thing to notice here is that he does not register the NEW INVENTED NAME of Scott Albert Mayer until February of 1973.

This man was never ‘Scott Mayer’ in any records until he married Victoria ‘Qualls” in 1968. Scott first used the name ‘Scott” on August 17th, 1968 in Orange, California (which is a little north of Santa Ana). California marriage records show that he married divorce’ Victoria R. Macleod – maiden name Qualls. Victoria had previously married Donald Macleod 30 August 1963 in Orange, they divorced in October 1966.

That name never existed prior to that.

It is interesting that he doesn’t even tell the Social Security Administration that he now has a ‘new’ name, until 5 years later in 1973.

So, our progression of Scott’s (or should I say Harry’s) many names is now:

  • 1943 – Birth certificate, Harry Albert Mayer
  • 1959 – Albert Harry Mather is the first name that he filed for a social security number as at age 16 in Wisconsin.
  • 1961 – 21 April – Enlists under the name Harry Albert Mayer (despite the fact his SS card is in a different name) See USS Bennington Crew list  Record Number 1808.
  • 1968 – 17 August – marries Victoria Qualls Macleod under the name Scott Mayer – California marriage records.
  • 1973 – February – changes name with Social Security Administration to Scott Alb Mayer – Social Security Administration records.

1965-1967

Besides looking almost exactly alike in photos, we have another parallel with ‘Captain Spence” for what Harry/Scott was actually doing in Vietnam during this time period that he was no longer an “enlisted” man in the Navy.

It comes from the 1972 French film that a scientology critic found where a Captain Spence rather closely parallels Harry (Scott) Mayer’s career in Vietnam.

The scientology critic tells us that:

Spence tells the interviewer that he had spent four years in the United States navy (and perhaps also the Merchant navy – it’s hard to catch because of the French voiceover). Certainly he looks the part, and of all those interviewed he comes across as the most natural.

Merchant Navy?

Yep. And from the exact same time period that Harry/Scott was doing mysterious un-named things in Vietnam from 1965-1967.

Here you can see in this clip from the film, what Capitaine Spence said about his career and how he ‘found’ scientology.

Spence: “In 1965 I began to realize there was a need for change in my life.” Says he was studying other religions and philosophies, “I didn’t find what I was seeking, which was new knowledge, until I read a book by L. Ron Hubbard. At that time, it made very much sense to him.” He became a scientologist at that point, but that wouldn’t have been til 1967.

Spence: “I spent 4 years in the United States Navy and then a couple more years in the merchant marines.”

Just like what Harry/Scott did, apparently.

Harry/Scott actually refers to the merchant marines, but this was only in reference to obtaining his captain papers after he was already in the Sea Organization. He didn’t have them before that, at least as far as I can tell.

This is from Harry, as Scott Mayer, testimony –

MR. BERFIELD: This is just kind of a curious question: Did you ever get your mate’s papers from –

MR. MAYER: I have them, but –

MR. BERFIELD: — U.S. Customs, U.S. Coast Guard papers, or –

MR. MAYER: No. I was — I am registered as captain in the Honduran and the Panamanian Merchant Marines. 2

I don’t know how or when ‘Captain Spence’ became a captain, whether that was in his unspecified time in the Merchant Marines in Vietnam or what. Perhaps it was the same as Harry/Scott? Spence got his ‘I’m-a-Captain’ papers through the CIA front of the Panamanian Consul in the L.A. area?

And yes, you heard me right. That Consul was a CIA front. It was used to both as cover and to build cover documents for a number of operatives and operations actually. But, I’m getting ahead of myself here.

Resuming the Harry/Scott and Captain Spence timeline again, some Guardian Office and Sea Organization and other points of interest, in brief –

1966 – Summer

John Griggs (soon to be head of Brotherhood of Eternal Love drug-trafficking ring tied directly to CIA financiers – see timeline) traveled to the Mellon/Bruce estate called “Millbrook” to meet with CIA/MI6 agent Timothy Leary and Billy Mellon Hitchcock about spreading LSD in California and the U.S. Leary suggested that he start his own church. This seemed like an excellent idea to Griggs.

1966 – October

Scientologist Terry Milner had left Saint Hill in late 1966, where he was posted in Los Angeles as the Deputy Guardian for Intelligence, U.S. (DG/I US) and junior to Bob Thomas, who in New York was the Deputy Guardian for the U.S. – these are both the Guardian office positions directly under Mary Sue Hubbard.

Note: The proof that Terry was in Los Angeles shows up in Auditor #24 where there is a marriage announcement that he and Kathy Betts were wed on February 3, 1967 in Los Angeles.

This is the exact time that the drug distribution company, the Church of the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, is formed.

John Griggs had returned to California and on Leary’s advice to “start a church”, he incorporated a church as a tax-exempt entity called The Brotherhood of Eternal Love consisting of approximately thirty original members.

LSD had been made illegal just 10 days earlier.

The articles of incorporation announced the group’s objective:

“…to bring to the world a greater awareness of God through the teachings of Jesus Christ, Buddha, Ramakrishna, Babaji, Paramahansa Yogananda, Mahatma Gandhi, and all true prophets and apostles of God, and to spread the love and wisdom of these great teachers to all men…. We believe this church to be the earthly instrument of God’s will. We believe in the sacred right of each individual to commune with God in spirit and in truth as it is empirically revealed to him.”

The Brothers settled in Laguna Beach, a small seaside resort thirty miles south of Los Angeles.

Billy Mellon Hitchcock arranged for the production of the LSD, and the laundering of the profits through his connections to Castle Bank, where he already had a private account.

Between 1966 and 1971 the Brotherhood was virtually untouchable, but when they came under investigation over 750 members had been identified in a business the IRS estimated to be worth $200 million – the IRS wanted their cut.

Hitchcock made more permanent arrangements for the Brotherhood, later on, through CIA banker Paul Helliwell and the CIA’s cut-out of Resorts International, a conduit for huge amounts of Mafia money.

1966 – November 22

The actual earliest beginning of the Sea Organization starts with the Hubbard Explorational Company Limited. It was formed with Hubbard and Mary Sue as directors – Hubbard being described as expedition supervisor and Mary Sue as company secretary.

This is also the time period when Paul Helliwell is establishing banks and accounts for the CIA (Robert Vesco) in the Carribean in preparation for what I call Sea Supply west. ie: drugs for guns.

Expeditions have long been used by Hubbard as an intelligence cover, going all the way back to his “motion picture” expedition in 1932 – while at George Washington University and having government clearance to scope the psych wards of St. Elizabeth’s mental hospital (then under the control of William Alanson White). Plus, Hubbard was then good buddies and co-editor with OSS and later CIA asset Paul Linebarger who also worked with Miles Copeland on a CIA operation in Egypt.

When you see Hubbard start talking about “expeditions” it’s invariably because he’s engaging on intelligence activities for the British/Vatican/American triad of spook services.

It’s also of importance to remember that in taped lecture Mechanics of The Mind, given 10 January 1953, Hubbard specifically said:

I have approximated to a very remarkable degree the career of Commander Thompson.

In the field of expeditions, explorations, I always favored certain quarters of the world, always went there and, when there, did certain things. It fits Commander Thompson’s record.

Commander Thompson, Hubbard’s mentor as a young boy, career was as an intelligence agent who used explorations/expeditions as a cover for doing intelligence work.

Such is the case here with this Hubbard Explorational Company. Hubbard is prepping to work with Miles Copeland in his NOC activities in that part of the world. See Morocco post.

1967/68

Approximate start date for when Scott is living in Corona Del Mar. Corona Del Mar is only 6.7 miles further down Highway 1, from Laguna Beach where the CIA drug-trafficking front group, the Brotherhood of Eternal Love was just getting going.

In the late 1960s, I was living in Corona del Mar, California and working as a stationary corporation field representative. 14

The impossibility and extreme unlikelihood of this story of that Harry/Scott was basically being a ‘greeting card salesman’ who was supposedly randomly approached to ‘train to be a captain’ of L. Ron Hubbard’s scientology ships (while Hubbard is working for Miles Copeland and the CIA) – is absolutely astronomical.

It is my opinion that Scott was capitalizing, in a very tongue-in-cheek fashion, on the character of Maxwell Smart in the spoof CIA/Spy show Get Smart.

What was character Max’s intelligence cover in the show?

greeting card salesman.

Enuf said.

Harry/Scott continues to describe this time period of his life –

I was bored and had just broken up with my wife. I still had my dreams of skippering a ship and had no ties to any place or any person. I was approached by a representative of the Scientology Sea Org to go into a ship training program as a ship’s master. Scientology needed people to run Hubbard’s ships because he wanted to expand the fleet. 14

Note the bolded part.

That’s an odd statement for him to make, don’t you think? Like…what’s the need for it at all. Perhaps this was Scott’s way (kind of like CIA NOC agent Miles Copeland did) to leave clues here and there as to the real truth of who he was?

Could be, could be not. But it is odd.

Now look at this part, a different bolding –

I was bored and had just broken up with my wife. I still had my dreams of skippering a ship and had no ties to any place or any person. I was approached by a representative of the Scientology Sea Org to go into a ship training program as a ship’s master. Scientology needed people to run Hubbard’s ships because he wanted to expand the fleet. 14

In one of the few documents that show when Harry first started using a different name of ‘Scott’, California marriage records show that he, as Scott, got married August 17th, 1968 in Orange, California (which is a little north of Santa Ana). California marriage records show that he married divorce’ Victoria R. Macleod – maiden name Qualls. Victoria had previously married Donald Macleod 30 August 1963 in Orange, they divorced in October 1966. Victoria ‘Vicki’ Qualls apparently remarried in 1973 to Eugene Brown.

Right here is where things get really weird, and we start running into significant problems with Scott’s testimony about his history in this time period, where there are conflicting statements.

The first one concerns the year of 1968. When did Scott join the Sea Organization, and What was he doing (and where). Not to mention why…

From his own statement, given in a court proceeding, we know that he personally witnessed the creation of the OTC aboard the Apollo.

Mayer… said he joined the sect with a promise to get certification to skipper unlimited tonnage in any sea or weather conditions. He was assigned to sect founder L. Ron Hubbard’s ship “Apollo” 20

17. When I was on the Apollo, I witnessed them making a new Board of Directors for Operation Transport Corporation out of a couple of galley hands and some musicians. Mary Sue Hubbard picked them out and they signed the corporate papers where and when she told them. 14

I have now published a history of the Operation and Transport Corporation Ltd., after having obtained the digital corporate records27 of Panama.

Besides an attorney and the Hubbards (Ron and Mary Sue) the “couple of galley hands and some musicians” were:

CATHY SPROULE – secretary
DOROTHY HEMSLEY – secretary
GEORGE RAGAZ, Director and President
HELMUTH BLOBAUM, director
MARIANO PEDERSOLI, director and vice-president

It was incorporated on February 15, 1968.

By his own statement, that puts Harry/Scott Mayer aboard the Apollo exactly on that date in order to have ‘witnessed’ this event.

But, now we have a problem with Harry/Scott’s testimonies concerning his entrance into Hubbard’s Sea organization.

The first concerns a practice called overboarding that began when Hubbard and all his ships went to Corfu Greece. The ships arrived there in the summer of 1968, and the practice of overboarding, aboard the Royal Scotman/Apollo had begun almost immediately after that, becoming ‘official’ on October 21 when L Ron Hubbard put out an issue about it.

Auditor magazine Issue #41 – dubbed the Overboarding issue.

Auditor_41_-_ollie budlong on left joran robertson right David Ziff_promotes_that_they_OVERBOARD_class_8_students

Harry/Scott Mayer testified –

[…] I never did any “over boarding”, but I heard about the practice when I first came to the Sea Org. 14

Scott says that he “heard” about this, but yet he had already been there aboard the Apollo for the creation of the Operation and Transport Corporation Ltd (OTC) directors, and since the overboarding practice didn’t start until September/ October* 1968? He was therefore off the Apollo during that time.

That begs the question just exactly where was Scott during that time period?

We know for a fact that he was back in the states getting married to Victoria Qualls on August 17th, 1968 in Orange, California.

Now we run into another problem, which is one of Scott’s versions of why (and how) he ended up in Hubbard’s Sea organisation. Scott testified –

Ah, but that’s impossible. Scott was already IN the Sea Organization before he married his wife. He had to be to witness this ‘event’ aboard the Apollo on Feb 15, 1968. He didn’t marry his wife, let alone break up with her, until six months later.

So, why is he dissembling like this? It’s either a lie that he witnessed the creation of the OTC on Feb 15, 1968, or it’s a lie that he joined after he married and then broke up with his wife and joined the Sea Org because he ‘was bored‘.

For now, I’m going to go with the premise that the second one is the lie, for two reasons.

  1. Scott is one of the only (if not the only) person I have ever seen that makes a correct reference (albeit colorful) to the number of people elected ‘directors’ and such by Mary Sue Hubbard, of the OTC. He had to be there to know that. Everyone else just talks about the 3 people that replaced those initial directors, elected at a ‘board meeting’ just two days later (February 17, 1968 – see History of OTC)
  2.  Because we do have a factual record of where Scott was in August of 1968.

Based on that, here’s what I propose really happened during that summer of 1968.

I think Scott had been sent from the Apollo, on mission to California in order to assist in some capacity, fellow deep-cover operative and scientologist Jerry McDonald in his operations in Los Angeles. There were two ‘operations’ going concurrently, one of which was that McDonald was assisting Warren Hudson with the takedown of the Lawrence Fassler drug-trafficking network – in conjunction with the CIA/BNDD.

All three of these men –  Jerry, Scott, and Warren – were Navy men with high security clearances.

Jerry, was a particularly colorful character. An assassin, weapons afficianado – a real tough guy.

Jerry and his ‘special’ relationship with L. Ron Hubbard and the head of Intelligence for the Guardian Office in the U.S. Terry Milner, has been written about already, with extensive documentation in several articles, posts, and chapters here at the blog.

Here’s a list of them –

.

**here

1968 – New Year’s

You see, they didn’t know that he [Jerry] was CIA, nor did they know that L. Ron Hubbard was a CIA asset (long term), nor did they know that Terry Milner was working with the CIA with Hubbard’s full knowledge to get control of the drug trade away from those ‘corrupt’ elements – so called.

Just two weeks after Jerry McDonald gets released from the Navy, L. Ron Hubbard establishes a corporation called Operation & Transport Limited, through the Panamanian Counsel in Valencia, Spain.

In another spontaneous fit of coincidental activity with the CIA – Hubbard had used the very same favorite area of incorporating shady companies as Paul Helliwell – Panama, where the CIA had just (in 1967) positioned their future puppet monster leader, Manuel Noriega, trained by them at School of the Americas and at Fort Bragg, in the Panama National Guard.

Mayer… said he joined the sect with a promise to get certification to skipper unlimited tonnage in any sea or weather conditions. He was assigned to sect founder L. Ron Hubbard’s ship “Apollo” 20

MR. MAYER:

In terms of getting into the Sea Organization, I entered the Sea Organization as a result of having a ship’s master training program being offered to me. At one time, during the Vietnam War, I was on a navigation team flagship in the Seventh Fleet and used to run aircraft carriers in and out of various harbors around the world, so I had quite a bit of ship experience when I was first exposed to Scientology. And I was offered a training program that would get me a master’s certificate, and I went in on that basis, that and an educational program. 2

1967 – October/November

It is presumed that this is probably when CIA agent Jerry McDonald first hooks up with CIA NOC asset Hubbard at the Saint Hill organization in England.

Jerry was well into scientology before his 18 December 1967 release from the navy – as evidenced by this record of his completion of Power Processing (Grade V on scientology’s Grade Chart) in the fall of 1967.

Power completions from October 1 to 14th November 1967 – Auditor #33 – image

1967 – August/September – Paul Helliwell brings Sea Supply to the U.S. (Miami) to move drugs – particularly Chinese White (heroin) for the CIA.

1967 – August 12

Exactly the same time as Helliwell gets going on what I call Sea Supply West (U.S. and Caribbean). L. Ron Hubbard formed the Sea Organization on 12 August 1967, initially on board four ships, the Diana, the Athena, the Apollo, and the Excalibur. The Apollo served as the flag ship of the Sea Org.

1967 – December 18

But, still, Jerry doesn’t get released from the Navy until December 18, 1967.

Resume Timeline

1967 –

**this goes later

Scott Mayer had Power Processing (then called Level 5) at Saint Hill? This also tends toward proof that his name was purged from completion lists as he had done Grades 0-5. **see purging

Why would L. Ron Hubbard have used a barely audited, quickie grade, level five person such as myself, Fleet Captain material or not on over twenty missions to create massive amounts of income for Scientology and the Sea Org. 18

Please bear in mind

That apparently the whole time Scott was in the Sea Org and doing intelligence work for Hubbard, he was also concurrently discussing his findings regarding their intelligence techniques with his father, who was in Army Intelligence.

He said also that he briefed couriers, disguised as students or tourists, “on how to get through immigration, customs, postal officials, to get money in and out of the country.”

The church has more than 30 bank accounts worldwide, he said.

The sect used five “front companies” which it used as addresses for the money and documents smuggled in and out of the country. 20

Remember the Flag Order by “Commodore Hubbard”: which was a part of every Sea Org Members “Basic Hat”.  Stories Told (emphasis added)?

According to this story, the acceptable truth told all people putting forth queries of the business of the Sea Org Ships, was that we were an international consulting business, traveling the world over and servicing the needs of our various clientele.

The story, of course was only true to the extent that our clients were the various Churches and Missions of Dianetics and Scientology.

The truth was that Ron Hubbard laundered the monies gathered by Scientology International and H.A.S.I. (“Hubbard Association of  Scientologists, International”) through Operation Transport Corp. and/or Operation Transport Services so that it would not appear as though he was personally profiting from the activities of the Religion of Scientology.

Laundered them to where, to do what? He never spent any of it to speak of, proportionately, so where was it really going?

I had taken aircraft carriers through renovations while I was in the service. And I took the Apollo through one, so I knew what I was doing. 2

It was in October of 1967 that the Royal Scotsman was purchased. The first order of business was

1967 – October 18th

Commodore [Hubbard] becomes Captain of Royal Scotman (later christened The Apollo in 1968).22

1968 – February

Drug smuggler Fassler loses one of his main pilots, William Willoughby, together with another one of his men (Patrick O’Neill) in a capture/arrest.

1968 – March

AO Alicante established 22

1968 – March 6

Enter Warren Hudson.

The Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, 1850-2010, documents that Warren Hudson was released from the Navy March 6, 1968. He immediately goes off to run and undercover operation against Fassler – with scientologist and sea org member Jerry McDonald helping Hudson a little later on once he’s “in position” in June.

1968 – March 25

Flag Order #563, dated March 25, 1968, ordered that a mission be sent out to find a permanent home for an Advanced Org. Hana Eltringham and Peggy Bankston were sent to Guernsey, and Scilly Isles, which were found to be unsuitable; while Yvonne Gillham was sent to check out Edinburgh.

1968 – March 30, 1968

Hubbard issued Flag Order #576 which ordered the Royal Scotman on a training cruise, now known as the Liability Cruise.

Liability Cruise starts here.

[…] an urgent radio message arrived from Mary Sue asking the Commodore to return immediately to Valencia, where there was a ‘flap’. … the ‘flap’ had been caused by the port Captain of the Royal Scotman, who had consistently refused requests from the Spanish port authorities to move the ship from the dock to a mole in the harbour. The situation had deteriorated to such an extent that the Spaniards were threatening to tow the ship out to sea and deny her re-entry. Hubbard sent a mission ashore to heal the rift and transferred six officers from the Avon River to the Royal Scotman to report on how the ship was being run.

A few days later, the Royal Scotman dragged her anchor in the outer harbour as a storm began to blow up. Hubbard heard what was happening over the radio on the Avon River. He grabbed the nearest available officers, jumped into the barge and hurried across to the Royal Scotman, running up on to the bridge to take command. The ship was still secured to the harbour wall by wire hawsers which were under enormous pressure; if they snapped, nothing could prevent her being swept on to the rocks. Hubbard managed to slip the hawsers and re-anchor the ship, but not before her rudder had been damaged against the mole.

When the emergency was over, the furious Commodore demanded an ‘ethics investigation’ to find out who had ‘goofed’ and meanwhile assigned the entire ship a ‘condition of liability’. Since there were so few people he could trust, he appointed Mary Sue to be the new Captain of Royal Scotman. Her orders were to take the ship to Burriana, north of Valencia, for repairs and then to cruise up and down the Spanish coast to train the crew. She was to stay at sea until both the crew was sufficiently well trained and the ship sufficiently spruce to qualify for upgrading; until then, the Royal Scotman would remain in ‘liability’. (Miller: “Bare-faced Messiah”, pg. 285/286)

Jerry McDonald enters the picture here.

Dart Smohen – a pseudonym of Neville Chamberlain – discussing the Liability Cruise.

Note: Dart decides to “leave” ESMB (ex-scientologist message board) on January 4, 2011 is where he reveals his real name. Joburgs is a reference to a very long and detailed security check (lots of questions) that was being given at the time.

Now, where was I ? Oh yes.

It was pretty tough going at first, We had to do all the Joburgs. I remember having to do one on Jerry MacDonald [misspelled, it is McDonald], who had just come on board. Jerry was a larger than life customer, a smuggler, hard case and general crook.

I started his Joburg “questions like “Have you ever stolen anything?” answers were “Oh yes blah blah blah”, needle moving freely, absolutely no response at all. So I decided to run a reverse Joburg.

“Have you failed to steal something?” BANG CRASH the meter went. Boy, was there ever some charge on it. Times he had the chance to steal and failed to do so.

It took HOURS to run it, there was SO much stuff. All sorts of things came up, many that would have seen him serving life sentences. Anyway, I did the job. We were good friends after that.

All the while we had to learn and train the crew on the basics of seamanship. We needed to practice docking the ship. Remember, this boat was about 100 yards long and weighed about 4,000 tons.

We also had to repair any nonworking parts. The foghorn did not work properly. Gerry was sent up the mast with a spanner to loosen off the bolts and clear it out. I saw him up there and pulled the horn cable. A stream of filthy water spewed out over him, followed by the horn working at full blast – just a few feet from him.

He came down the rung ladder, soaked in dirty water with a determined stride in his step and a very reproachful look on his face!

[…] Bill Robertson was there to try and teach us about celestial navigation, a subject VERY few mastered.

Liability Cruise Part 2, March 11, 2008

So, we have Captain Bill, Jerry and Scott (with his false name) all there at the same time.

Oddly, an alleged note in a U.S. Customs file obtained 6 years later, notes Jerry as having ‘worked with Customs’ since 1968.

Feb-July 1970 entry […] JM is noted as to have worked with Customs since 1968.

Scott Mayer was there probably as well? Or this could be a reference to the re-fitting of the Apollo when it was in Curacao later on here.

I had taken aircraft carriers through renovations while I was in the service. And I took the Apollo through one, so I knew what I was doing. 2

Captain Bill Robertson debrief to “John Caban” May, 1982 –

We had the famous ‘Liability Cruise’ that year before the AO, or in between the AO on the ship and the AO at Alicante.

[…]Well, we got the ship in shape and refitted in Alicante and got it up to Marseilles and the Boss christened it the Flagship and came aboard again from the ‘Athena’.

Note: Strangely, in the same reference Captain Bill lies about there only being two captains – Scott, then using the name Mitch Spence, was also a Captain and Robertson would have known that when he did this “debrief” in 1982.

1968 – May 8

Yvonne rejoined the Royal Scotman as ordered by Flag Order #685, dated May 8, 1968, new Advanced Organization in Edinburgh now in place.

1968 – mid May

At the beginning of June a radio message arrived from Mary Sue to say that the Royal Scotman was ready for reassessment. Her husband agreed to up-grade the ship to the next level – ‘non-existence’ – and gave his permission for her to sail to Marseilles for his inspection, after which he would decide if she could resume operations unhindered by the stigma of a lower condition. The Royal Scotman arrived in the harbour at Marseilles looking better than she had at any time since going into service for the Sea Org – she had been painted white from stem to stern, her brasswork was gleaming and the entire crew bad been fitted out with smart new uniforms. Hubbard was all smiles, presided over a ceremony to remove all lower conditions and promptly moved back into his cabin on board. A few days later the Royal Scotman sailed for Melilla in Spanish Morocco, eight hundred miles distant. No-one knew why. (Miller: “Bare-faced Messiah”, pg. 287)

I do. Melilla was a CIA haven and now that he had his boats ready to go Hubbard was ready to begin his assignment with his CIA handler, NOC agent Miles Copeland. See At Last – Perhaps The Real Explanation For Ron Hubbard’s Morocco/King Hassan Operation

1968 – Melilla, May late

Hubbard –

In Melilla in the Spring of ’68 we had a flood of raw, relatively untrained, unaudited people arrive. We also had five people who were very heavy handed and suppressive, since blown or dismissed…24

Travers Harris posting

We set sail for Melilla and then were told our next port of call would be Bizerte in Tunisia North Africa. During this trip we had tremendous problems with the engine [on the Athena] and the rings of the 1st high pressure piston disintegrated. We had other problems with heat but we eventually arrived in Bizerte and we were all exhausted.

1968 – June

Note: for full details of the CIA operation to take down the Fassler pot-smuggling network, see this post.

Apparently only two months after he started flying drugs for Fassler – unless he was undercover prior to his Navy release – and only a few months after Navy-man Jerry McDonald goes shippie-do with Hubbard and his mini-fleet and whips them into shape, Navy-man Warren Hudson hatches an agent provocateur plan against Fassler.

1968 – July

Otto Roos and Jerry McDonald go on mission, together with Captain Bill Robertson and Scott Mayer as “Mitch Spence”.

Otto Roos Debrief

ENEMIES: He could be ferocious. July 1968 saw a very special Mission, personally and at length briefed by LRH. Myself I/C and Jerry McDonald, a very tough ex US Marine, was assistant. To go find and weed out Mafia Connections in Scn LA and to gather together and collectively cave in the Charles Berner group by completely playing out OT 3. (We hired a Hollywood Studio, set the whole thing up, got the people in and ran the whole OT 3 story.) The Mafia part was a cinch. It made me a lot of enemies in LA,that was the ‘unreasonability’ of the early SO days.”

1968 – August, early

Royal Scotman in Bizerte

royal_scotman_docked_in_bizerte_august_1968

A rare video interview series with L. Ron Hubbard, done in August of 1968 on board the Royal Scotman, mentioned that Hubbard’s St. Hill organization was pulling down 30,000 pounds a week, which the ratio of conversion back in 1968 was 3 – 1. That means St. Hill was pulling down 90,000 dollars a WEEK.

That’s 360K a month, and 4.6 million dollars a year!

Now, in an London Daily Mail article of 6 August 1968, it published details of Hubbard’s private bank accounts in Switzerland, including account numbers, and it said Hubbard had $7 million. Some reporters tracked him down in Bizerte, Tunisia, (Daily Mail, 6 August 1968) and Hubbard acted nonchalant about the whole thing and “showed them his sixteen war medals in a framed case behind his desk.”

“Sometimes he pleaded a kind of poverty: “Scientology owes me $13 million. It is the only thing I’ve gotten out of this.”
I’ve only got a very small amount in Switzerland, 100,000 francs. I don’t even know how much that is worth.”
“He insisted: “If I wanted to return to Britain, I’d walk in the front gate, and the Customs officer would say, ‘Hello, Mr. Hubbard.’ That’s how it’s always been, and it always will.

Hubbard complained about this article blowing an agent (a spy) there at St. Hill.

hubbard_verify_swiss_accounts_1969_december_2

As in the case of the Swiss Account numbers the paper “exposed” they blew the cover of an agent. As it was you knew there was an agent near Treasury at SH.

– L. Ron Hubbard to: CSG and The Guardian WW 2 December 1969 Intelligence Actions Covert Intelligence  taken from the Guardian’s Office confidential intelligence course of 9 September 1974.
*note – Jane Kember had taken over as Guardian in January of 1969, when Mary Sue become “Controller” – CSG and went off with Hubbard on his ships.

Note: Hubbard had also spent eight million dollars just two years earlier, in some kind of intelligence operation in Rhodesia, a fantastic sum all by itself in those days.

And yet, even more fantastic, this rate of cash flow is still continuing in 1968!

So, now here’s Hubbard moving in and out a least 4 million a year back in 1968, and there were only maybe 3,000 clears at this time, even if each of them did the new OT levels…that is still way too much money to account for it actually being just for services.

That’s is our first clue that something is very wrong with the sheer volume of money flowing through Hubbard’s church fronts and into Swiss bank accounts – let alone the other accounts he held in other parts of the world.

One of the tricks that CIA/Vatican bankers began employing to hide the huge amount of money they now had at their fingertips, was by using cut out ‘investors’. I’ll get into this more later on, but I think this is another function that L. Ron Hubbard served in his capacity as a long-term British/CIA intelligence asset.

What they would do is funnel money to a person, say..like Ron Hubbard, who would then open a Swiss bank account at particular banks, deposit the money, and then the money was used or ‘invested’ into CIA black operations even though on the books it still appeared to be there.

Tricky, eh?

William Spector, a former OSS operative, claimed that Vesco’s tangled web of corporations served as fronts for various CIA activities and provided cover for CIA agents. (Acid Dreams book)

Robert Vesco and CIA-man Paul Helliwell’s Resorts International became synonymous with big-time drug trafficking: cocaine and marijuana from the Caribbean and South America, LSD and hashish produced in factories in the Bahamas, Costa Rica, etc., with venture capital provided through IOSInvestors Overseas Services (Robert Vesco and the CIA).

This is that CIA banking scheme I just described. The IOS was an international “mutual fund” that somehow managed to accumulate an excess of $2 billion in investment capital on behalf of “unnamed subscribers.”

The numbers of how much money was going in and out of Ron Hubbard’s scientology operation never matched balances in accounts or even the spending habits of Hubbard either as an individual or from behind the scientology corporate shells. A possibly good example is when Hubbard died in 1986 there was only 20 million in his estate, with even a low-ball estimate of hundreds of millions of dollars simply gone, never to appear again.

Hubbard never personally spent that kind of money – no way, no how.

Western governments and peoples are under ceaseless and unrelenting attack from the Communist forces in the “cold war”. The enemy has for a long time been inside, getting laws passed, degrading the society, seizing persons in the name of psychiatry, pushing up taxes, inflating money…..

The orders the governments followed in attacking us were originated by REDS, by the usually foreign psychiatrist, operating as per Communist instructions to destroy all Churches and Scientology in particular.

1969 –

Several important things happened in 1969, two of which have not previously been related to what was going on in the CIA front group of Scientology.

One was Operation Intercept. As a result of Nixon’s executive committee of “what to do about those bad drugs”, the big show of Operation Intercept especially targeted the Mexican marijuana trade – which was pretty much exclusively controlled by the Brotherhood of Eternal Love through their dealings with the biggest drug dealer in Mexico, “Papa”, Pedro Aviles and his right hand man Quintero. This was not what it appeared to be, it was about driving the profit margin up and helping the CIA take over the drug trade which leads us to point two –

CIA direct involvement with the BNDD (Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs) began in 1969, becoming more formalized in early 1971. (see 1971)

The CIA’s continuing interest in the illicit drug trade concurrent with stepped-up Sea Supply efforts vis-a-vis Paul Helliwell is clearly indicated in a once-classified document dated March 24, 1969. This is just a few months before agent Ron Stark joined the Brotherhood of Eternal Love and led it to greater heights but then to it’s demise and “bust”.

This document, as referenced by Martin A. Lee and Bruce Shlain in Acid Dreams (1985) refers to the CIA’s liaison with the BNDD:

It appears that the activities of the BNDD, ongoing and planned, could under the appropriate arrangements provide valuable information to the Agency in new drug effects, drug abuse and drug traffic areas. For this reason they will be followed very closely.

Meanwhile – that same year Hubbard and Jerry McDonald are adding one ship after the other to their “fleet, with L. Ron Hubbard personally making Jerry McDonald the Commander of the Pacific Fleet of sea org ships. The Grinnell was purchased – Bob Young, ex-British merchant marine was made Captain. (see 1970)

The Grinnel was an ex steel hulled anti-submarine warfare ship. She slept 48 crew.

grinnel_bolivar_pc1230

The Grinnel/Bolivar was sold in 1974. (see 1974)

The Grinnel/Bolivar was raided/boarded by US Customs apparently some time in 1969, along with the Aries (formerly the Blue Fin) and the Neptune. The Neptune was a converted PT boat which served as the stationship for the pacific area in 1969 until the Grinnel/Bolivar replaced it in that function. The Aries had been brought into the Sea Org fleet by Jerry McDonald in late 1968 early 1969, as part of his goings-on with the Fassler drug-smuggling network. **fill in

20 Jan 1972 US Customs Agent Kellog boarded the Asia asking that JM come down to the Customs Office to hep straighten out some files. He served a subpeona on JM to testify on the drug smuggling case. Note: the rock group People! had just joined the Sea Org, this same year of 1969, to be the “band” for Jerry and Terry’s 3-ring circus of smugglers, and were reporting to Jerry for “Sea Org training”; Geoff Levin was a member of that rock group, and he also had a history with Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead and Robert Hunter (real name Burns) going back to 1961.

Robert Hunter was a scientologist and had been an MKULTRA volunteer test subject at the Palo Alto, California VA Hospital under Gregory Bateson, and in concert with Stanford Research Institute LSD studies Willis Harman (who would later support the MKULTRA spin-off “A Course in Miracles” as well as help produce Changing Images of Man); the Grateful Dead is the official house band of MKULTRA LSD producer “Bear” owsley (who doubles as sound engineer for the Dead). Geoff Levin’s old buddies Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia do a benefit for Church of Scientology San Francisco June 11 1969.

Just a few months earlier, in March of 1969, the Brotherhood of Eternal Love (who had members involved with Scientology) produced its first batch of Orange Sunshine.

Mr. Sinclair. In March 1969, the first batch of “orange sunshine” LSD was made bv brotherhood members in a laboratory located outside of San Francisco. Slightly under 1 million tablets were produced in this first endeavor. Numerous millions were to be made in the next 4 years.
At this point in time, the Brotherhood of Eternal Love was the largest supplier of hashish and LSD in the United States.
Mr. SouRWiNE. Let us get the reference. That phrase “point of time” has meant a lot of things. You are talking about March 1969.
Mr. Sinclair. That is correct, sir.
Mr. SouRWINE. Go ahead.
Mr. Sinclair. The center of their operations was still Laguna Beach, Calif., although they were fast becoming international travelers and were purchasing property in Hawaii, Canada, Central America, and several States neighboring California. From 1966 to 1971, members of the brotherhood traveled throughout the world using false identities with passports obtained under assumed names. Their operations were virtually untouchable during this period of time.
Mr. SouRwiNE. Why was that?
Mr. Sinclair. Because of their mobility, because no one was really aware of the extent of their activities.

Hashish smuggling and passport fraud : ”the brotherhood of eternal love” : hearing before the Subcommittee to Investigate the Administration of the Internal Security Act and Other Internal Security Laws of the Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, Ninety-third Congress, first session, October 3, 1973

Clearly all this has bearing on what’s going on with Hubbard’s mini-fleet and getting boarded, so I am going to presume that this raid/boarding of the three ships would have had to be some time after July 1969, because the Bolivar isn’t listed as part of “crew list” submissions.

Exhibit 43 is a document obtained during the FBI raids of the Church of Scientology on July 8, 1977.

It is an evaluation (scientology tech for assessing a situation) by the Guardian Jane Kember, Guardian Order GO1344 of 10 October 1974, where she attempts to misdirect attention off of scientology drug, gun-running, and money laundering activities.

Buried deep in a number of short-hand type notations, on page 5, is the following.

10) Various crew lists – Aries, Neptune, Makaira – 13 July 1969

Digging into some of my other articles here, I found when these raids occurred, so now we know for sure that the Grinnel/Bolivar was already part of the fleet by the time of –

1969 – November 13

Because that’s when Jerry’s boat, the Makaira, was boarded by Customs.

– Customs files noted in an evaluation (scientology tech for assessing a situation) by the Guardian Jane Kember, Guardian Order GO1344 of 10 October 1974, p. 3 – Exhibit 43 from FBI files, PDF.

So, I presume this is right around when the other 3 were boarded as well.

1970 – February

On 24 February 1970 the Grinnel was mentioned in the OOD (Orders of the Day).

There is some sort of “ride” that takes place somewhere around here. My husband Mike McClaughry was on staff at the Church of Scientology San Francisco and this navy grey painted ship came in as “the scientology ship”. He said that they wouldn’t allow them on the ship, and that there was something very weird and sneaky going on with it – they (the local scientologists) were only allowed to stand on the dock and look at it.

Since it wasn’t painted white yet, that would put this docking in San Francisco sometime in late 1969 or in the first half of 1970.

Note: Wikipedia is way off in it’s history of the Bolivar, as is the navsec site they took the history from. I have numerous items proving Scientology was using this ship long before 1971.

April 1971 – The N M & S Company (National Metals and Steel Company of Terminal Island, California ) sold her to L. Ron Hubbard’s Church of Scientology, renamed the Bolivar with the California license CF 3871-EM. They painted her white and had davits installed on the port side aft for a whale boat type tender. – wikipedia

Important note –

There are several documents in the Family Jewels PDF that talk about all the help that the CIA was giving the BNDD for creating false backgrounds, including social security numbers, birth certificates, credit cards, and…passports. Also, one of the biggest points of discussion in the Hashish Smuggling subcommittee hearings13 of 1973, (two months after the Brotherhood bust) – was the extensive false documentation and passports a number of the Brotherhood smugglers had.

1971? (or is it 1968) – See Miscavige film re Forsyth report on Blue Fin

22. While I was in the Sea Org, I was instructed to kill another human being by the Scientology organization. At the time Scientology had an office on Beacon Avenue in Los Angeles, very close to McArthur Park. I was called in for a briefing by Alex Sibryski. At that time, Scientology had a ranch at Rosarito in Mexico which was being used as a nursery, a place for overflow kids that could not be housed in Los Angeles and a place to grow fruits and vegetables. Mexican bandits were allegedly harassing and hustling the ranch and stealing produce from it. Jerry McDonald and I were asked to put together a mission to go down to Mexico, take some infrared optics and some guns and rifles, wait for the Mexican bandits to attack the ranch again and then take care of them. We were told to kill them if necessary. I received these orders from Alex Sibryski. At the time he was Commanding Officer Flag Operations Western U.S. (“F.O.L.O.W.U.S.”).

This was part of Scientology’s elite Sea Organization. I was the Operations Officer at Flags Operations Liaison Office at the time and it was my job to write the mission orders for this thing and get us all briefed and ready to go. We figured that if we “took out” the bandit leaders the rest would disband. It took 24-48 hours to get this done and in the course of that time I never saw any written dispatches on this but the mission was then canceled by Alex Sibryski. He said that there was a governess in-charge of the ranch and that the bandits had tried to attack her at the place and she had shot the bandit leader with a shotgun through the door and taken care of the problem.

23. Jerry McDonald was widely rumored to have been a former mercenary and a paid assassin in Europe. He was known throughout the Sea Org for taking care of difficult problems. If someone was giving a problem in some area Jerry McDonald would just appear there. Because of his reputation as having been an assassin, if he came on the scene, people would fear for their lives. They believed that he was working totally for Scientology and that he would do anything for Hubbard. Additionally, he was also the kind of guy who would have people over to his house every now and then and would get out his automatic weapons, clean them and put them together in front of people. In this way, he would let people know that he was really conversant with his craft. He carried a 9 mm pistol on him all the time and he was always talking about arms sales and deals that he was doing. As things turned out, he and I were not required to carry out the instructions to kill that we had received. However, if the orders had not been canceled I have no doubt that he could have performed the task.. 14

1971? –

INTERVIEWER: You were in the Intelligence Division of the Guardian’s Office of the Church of Scientology. Did you have access to people’s personal confidential files?

SCOTT MAYER: Oh, certainly, certainly.12 (part 3)

That’s called High Crime Policy; the Fair Game Policy is part of that, which is allegedly cancelled, but I have never found a Church official that could show me the policy that cancelled it because it would have to be written by L. Ron Hubbard and, you know, specifically deny that policy, not a little caption printed down at the bottom. I printed those captions; I used to be Deputy Post Chief US in the early seventies. We put them on all the policy letters, which didn’t cancel anything, certainly not the way an Ethics Officer would handle a person who’s trying to impede the progress of the Church.2

[…] I was also at the time — my cover was called Operations in the United States. I was directly under what was then the Continental Commander for the United States area. I handled external communications, telex transmissions, church management across the United States on a supervisor level, and data evaluations, organization analysis. I would analyze things that were going on in various churches around the country and devise programs or plans that people could be sent out to raise the income level of the organization. 2

Bill Foster, expelled from the Church as a “cover”, ran a ring of 7 intelligence agents and it looks like Scott was involved with him somehow on that.

In 1971, when I was running operations for the Church, I was involved with a man whose name I don’t care to give now — unless it’s all right with you. Okay. His name was Bill Foster. 2

This ring ran from 1971 to 1975.

Who is Bill Foster?

bill_fosterBill Foster – 2005 image captured from “Hungry Ghost”

What’s he been doing since his spy ring days?

Scientology completion lists show him active all the way up to 2001, but somewhere after that he starts being an ex-scientologist again. Is this a new cover for some other scientology-related operation?

Here’s some of what he has been doing since then – you be the judge.

Youtube videos of Bill Foster by “Dino” –

  • Hungry Ghost – Published on Dec 20, 2006; Description: This film is about the mind state of Bill Foster. Shaman, Hippie or Crazy, he pontificates on the many layers of this thing called existence. Stay till the end as he describes passing through the white light of our collapsing universe with a circle of lamas.
  • The Ecstatic Truth – Published on Dec 20, 2006; Description: A documentary revealing Bill Foster’s past as well as his present state. Bill vacillates between fantasy and reality. This is a character study.

Dino created a number of videos (besides the two above) about Bill Foster. Following down his posting (see below) using the Internet Archive, I was able to surmise that one or more of the others had titles like Girl Baby, Jefferson Airplane Davis, Barefaced Divx, Serendipity2 and Frameless.

Dino also specifically mentioned that Foster was an ex-scientologist at his blog for Rougemont Films.

Blog posting September 9, 2005 “The Billogy” –

Come meet Bill Foster….Pyschonaut, Ex-Scientologist, and Urban Shaman. These three documentaries span over the last fourty years of this interesting character’s life. Come experience the billogy.

So, Bill Foster started his spy ring in 1971.

Nancy Foster – shortly after this is when Nancy Jean Laliberte (maiden name) hooked up with him. Although, there seems to be marriage records of a Nancy Jean Laliberte having married a man named Eugene Anderson in 1970 in the Boston area, a marriage officiated by a Roman Catholic priest, no less (Nancy was raised Roman Catholic). Perhaps Eugene Anderson is Bill Foster’s real name? More likely it is just a wild fluke coincidence of Nancy’s name. What is relevant here is that as far as I can find so far though, there are NO records of Nancy’s marriage to any William or Bill Foster, whereas there does exist records of her October 1978 marriage to Christopher Many.

1972 – January

Nancy Foster Many9 – head of Covert Data Collection (CDC) in Boston Guardian’s Office Bureau 1. Her immediate superior was her husband William “Bill” Foster.

I first encountered Scientology in 1972 while attending my second year at a small college north of Boston, Massachusetts.

…The organization in Boston in 1972 was small enough (approximately 50 staff) so that I knew everyone on a personal basis. L. Ron Hubbard himself had sent several of his top executives to Boston as part of what they called a Command Team. This team contained executives who had once run many of the top Scientology organizations in the United States. They had been sent to Boston to expand this one smaller organization, to make and send a lot of income to the higher organizations. The executives who were part of this Command Team all knew and had worked with L. Ron Hubbard personally. 5

This Command Team worked together tightly with Scott Mayer, head of Operations for the Eastern U.S. Pat Broeker was a member of this team. (see 1973)

Jerry McDonald and “drug smuggling case”. Note: This could be C. Thompson listed on our CIA/FBI/NSA list as being a NSA agent, which might explain why Jerry was reporting in his supposed uncooperativeness. (which struck me as strange)

20 Jan 1972 JM reported that Customs was interested in a Carl Thompson to the drug smuggling case. JM said he wouldn’t help Customs or anyone with approval from the USGO.

1972 – January

Scott Myer is caught on camera in a French film, using yet another false name – Mitch Spence aka Captain Spence aka Herman Mitchell Spence. As if he didn’t have enough names already. (see 1965)

A 20-minute French programme on Scientology broadcast in January 1972 includes interviews with some key figures from the movement. A scientology critic found this during a “rummage around the website of France’s broadcasting archive, l’Institut national de l’audiovisuel.”

Screenshot of Scott/Mitch taken from the film –

As compared to this image of himself that Scott Mayer provided to A&E Investigative Reports on Scientology; originally broadcast December 14, 1998, originally archived by Mark Bunker. The show was uploaded to youtube into segments, these pics are from part 3. (see earlier entries of all the videos)

You can clearly see it’s the same guy as in the french film.

1972 – January

(could be 1971 since the french film only aired in January so it must have been made before then)

Scott is captaining the Athena (formerly the Avon River) and using a false name of Herman Mitchell Spence.

The scientology critic tells us some more about what he found out about Captain Spence, as he is referred to in the film.

The scene switches to  another interior, another service, this time on board the Athena. The team interviews the vessels captain, identified only as Captain Spence…He pops up in the accounts of one or two former members and according to Travers Harris, who posts as “Lexmark”, over at the Ex-Scientologist Message Board, he is now dead. His name [Spence’s] appears on this Scientology document, which includes a long list of people declared suppressive. (He’s at the bottom of page 21…)

mitch_and_merle_spence_1991_declared_suppressive_list

Note the name Merle Spence, that will be key later here, but also how ridiculous is this? He’s declared under his false name.

trying-not-to-laugh

That means OSA didn’t know, that’s how clueless they apparently are. (at least some of them anyway)

Look at what this Travers Harris person said –

I was the chief engineer on the station ship Athena (renamed earlier from the Avon River) stationed in Copenhagen. I had just returned from a mission at the org in Copenhagen where I was CO until the FEBC trainees returned from Flag which they did. Flag had just sent us a new captain Mitch Spence to replace Stella King who was ill, both have since passed on. This was my 5th captain since joining the Avon River in Valencia in 1968. The captain of the Athena was usually also the continental captain and responsible for the AO and orgs in Europe.

So even though we don’t have an exact time period for this yet, it means that Scott, as “Captain Spence” was heading up all the OT level deliveries in the Advanced Orgs in Europe. Rather interesting considering he was barely a Clear himself.

1972 – February

Nancy Foster Many (and many others) had to join/sign a contract with the Sea Organization, which was a corporate shuffle engineered by Guardian’s Office. They were replacing the former Operation Transport Corporation staff “cover” organization.

To you old timer Sea Org members, you will remember that it was not until sometime after 1972 that the Guardians Office forced all Sea Org members to sign contracts with the Church of Scientology organization that they were currently posted at.

Prior to that, all Sea Org Members were actually employees of either or both Operations Transport Corp., Ltd. or Operations Transport Services, Ltd.. Panamanian Corporations and personal offshore holding companies of L. Ron Hubbard.

Nancy Foster Many describes that she was doing “volunteer” work. What that really meant, apparently, was that it looks like that she was an integral part of her husband’s spy ring this far back. This was within only a month after her encountering scientology!

Then, at the behest of Bill Franks Nancy joined the Sea Organization.

One day, I arrived at the organization in the early afternoon. I was attempting to juggle my college classes along with my Scientology course work and the volunteer work I had begun to do with Scientology…Bill Franks, a tall handsome member of the Command Team asked me to come to his office. He didn’t say another word till we arrived there and he offered me a seat. “Have you heard about the Sea Org?” he asked. […] “Yes,” I answered. “Would you like to join?” […] “Alright.” I said as I picked up the pen to sign. 5

Q    Okay.  And when did you join the Church of Scientology?
A    1972.
…A    January of ’72.
…A    Pretty much joined the Sea Organization within a

In the below excerpt from her Still Standing memoir, we see that Pat Broeker was obviously part of this “command team” mentioned earlier.

One day, I arrived at the organization in the early afternoon. I was attempting to juggle my college classes along with my Scientology course work and the volunteer work I had begun to do with Scientology…

The organization’s Financial Officer, Pat Broeker would get stacks of hundred dollar bills and let those of us in sales to play with them. We would throw them in the air, crumple them up and throw them at each other… 5

pat-broekerPat Broeker – L. Ron Hubbard death event

They still do this in scientology, it’s supposed to teach them to be able to “have” or “not have” money and therefore have supposedly better control over the subject.

1972 –

Nancy Many joins Bill Foster spy ring, becomes Nancy Foster. In her own testimony she gets the dates wrong, having herself “starting” in 1974 which is impossible because that’s when she was removed from the position she had been in and replaced by Robert Dardano (see 1974).

1972 is when she actually started. Note that in the following testimony, Nancy reveals that Bill Foster was being a private investigator to use as a cut out/cover for some of their dirtier intelligence gathering and running of black operations against “enemies”. My educated guess is that Bill Foster becoming a PI was somehow tied up with/related to Terry Milner’s private detective agency that he had started. Terry Milner was then the senior over all Guardian’s office intelligence in the U.S.

Q    And did you ever work for a section called the Guardian’s Office?
A    I was a volunteer for the Guardian’s Office in the Boston area in ’74, I think.
Q    How many years?
A    About two.
Q    Okay.  What types of things did you do for the Guardian’s Office?
A    I did basically undercover work, pretty much what a private — what I feel a private investigator would do. In fact, my husband at that time at one time was a private investigator, and it wasn’t that much different. People would work at companies, myself included. If things came up about Scientology, I would report them. If reports were thrown in the trash, I would take them home.  If reports were there that might be of interest, I would Xerox them.
THE COURT:  Was this a Scientology-run business?
THE WITNESS:  Oh, no.  These were like government offices or companies.
THE COURT:  Specifically, like what government offices do you remember?
THE WITNESS:  The attorney general’s office a friend of mine was at.  I was at the Consumer Council.  They handled consumer complaints.

[…] Q    How long did you remain a volunteer for the Guardian’s Office?
A    Just those two years. 8

1973 – Summer

During the summer of 1973 the Bolivar was tied up next to the Excalibur in San Pedro. It was sold at the end of 1973.

Scott Mayer takes over from fellow agent Jerry McDonald –

4.  […] When I was a Scientology fleet captain in 1973 and 1974, we had only two ships and another small boat in the U.S. Pacific Flotilla, but we were getting ready to have additional ships in Mexico and San Francisco and part of my assignment was to put a fleet together and to coordinate activities in training programs, staff analysis and establishment of the flotilla. 14

[…] I had just inherited the flotilla of ships in the — on the west coast, and I became the fleet captain. I’m qualified to run any tonnage in any ocean in any weather.

So, I was a qualified skipper. And I had just taken it over. But the ships were in very poor shape. They were run by an unqualified personnel who didn’t know what they were doing, didn’t know how to maintain them, and they were placing the Church at risk, basically.

[…] And I was appointed as the captain. However, there were — the ship was sitting alongside the dock. You have to realize this ship cost — it was one hundred eighty-five feet long [he’s talking about the Excalibur] and it had a couple hundred crew members on it, and it was costing the Church five thousand dollars a week to sit there. That was our budget per week, five thousand dollars.

The Church wanted it out, cruising up and down the coast, doing recruiting, doing events, public events, where we could introduce people to Scientology and then usher them into the local organizations where the registrar would be signed up for courses. 2

1973 – October 14

The California, Marriage Index, 1960-1985 shows that Scott gets married again. This time to Sarah (Sally) P. Leopold in Los Angeles City. Sarah had come into scientology through the Scientology Mission of Davis, California just a few years earlier.

Auditor #64 – 1970

auditor_64_1970_sarah_sally_leopold_davis_mission

Apparently she was on the Apollo by 1972, according to Janis Gillham-Grady in a July 2015 blog commentI had known Sarah/Sally since about 1972 when she first showed up on the ship.” Somehow Sarah/Sally found the time to get married to Richard Ernest Allcock in Reno on October 7, 1972 (per the Nevada Marriage Index, 1956-2005). Perhaps this was a green card type marriage and then they went to the Apollo? I ask because their marriage only lasted a year, and then Sarah/Sally must have divorced Allcock and married Scott Mayer.

Sarah then must have divorced Scott at some point because the next thing you know she is marrying Pat Gualtieri, with Janis Gillham-Grady as her bridesmaid, on 3 November 1984 in Los Angeles (as per California, Marriage Index, 1960-1985).

Note: Four years later, Sarah then performed the marriage of Danny Keough Hollander (whom I went to school at the Delphian Foundation in Oregon with) to Lisa-Marie Presley.

People October 24, 1988 –

Rev. Sarah Gualtieri, a minister in the Church of Scientology, calmly read the marriage service and, after a seven-minute exchange of vows, pronounced Daniel Keough and Lisa Marie Presley man and wife.

And that, in thundering anticlimax, is how the fairy-tale princess of Graceland, the only legitimate child and legal legatee of Elvis Presley—King of Rock and god of the planet’s most exuberant cult of posthumous celebrity—up and tied the knot. What’s more, the marriage was kept secret for two days.

1974 – The RPF

Howard Dickman writes: (also see this site)

The RPF was created the first part of January 1974.  By mid February 1974 I was on the Excalibur RPF.  The RPF was already functioning when I arrived, but there were just a few of us.  The Excalibur was sold sometime in 1975.

[…] In August the RPF was called off of the ship to help prepare the newly acquired Chateau Elysee [later called the Manor Hotel and it was the home of Celebrity Center Los Angeles] for FOLO [Flag Operations Liaison Office]. For days we hauled a bunch of trash out of the basement, after which we scraped and painted. Per FLWUS ED# 320, dated August 15, 1974, the following RPFer’s were commended for their work; Nick Maminakis, Beth MacRae, Ron Stone, Pat Hunter, Doug Nopson, Steve Ambrose, David Holmes, Dick Coanda, Howard Dickman, Sara Reyes, Tom Cochran and Linda Hodge.

You can see the hard copies of the mentioned issues here.

Scott Mayer was the Captain of the Excalibur during this time.

15. […] I personally observed the RPF when I was captain of the Excalibur. At times, I would have “up to” 34 RPF’ers on board. From time to time ‘Flag’ would send missions into various Scientology organizations in the Los Angeles area and then call me up and ask if I could use various gangs of RPF’ers to do certain projects. In fact, they used my RPF to move into the Chateau Elyses on Franklin Avenue. 14

1974 –

During the winter of 1974, the Bolivar was again tied up next to the Excalibur in San Pedro. The Bolivar had been sold and the new owner had hired the Excalibur’s engine room personnel to do repairs before its new usage.

LA to San Francisco in the window from of approx March – April of 74

I made that LA to SFO voyage on the Excalibur. Master was A. Jessup, IIRC. The Bolivar, (my beloved first ship, ever) at that time was a hulk, unable to move on her own. She was tied to the pier in San Pedro and we had to move her at least once a week when the Harbormaster informed that another vessel was expected and instructed at which berth Bolivar was to move to.

1974 – April

Excalibur cruise to San Francisco (SFO) from Los Angeles

Howard Dickman –

We were all at it in the engine room when the Excalibur cruised to San Francisco in April. […] The cruise back to LA was really peaceful. I was on deck at night and off of the port side I saw two green fluorescent trails coming towards us. As we continued to proceed southward the trails kept us in their sights. The two dolphins eventually ended up at the bow, leaping in and out of the water as the Excalibur moved forward; it was an incredible sight!

1974 – August

Robert Dardano –

3) In August, 1974 I began working for the Guardian’s Office (G.O.) which is the secret police arm of Scientology. 4

– – –

Robert Dardano and Warren Friske – Boston Globe article

In his sworn affidavit, Dardano said that in the summer of 1974 he became a member of the Boston Guardian Office’s “Branch 1” unit charged with gathering intelligence and carrying out operations against designated church enemies.

His first assignment, he said in the interview, was to head an “overt data collection” effort that involved supervising a small team of Scientologists who gathered information from public sources on persons and agencies who opposed or could oppose the church. 7

1974 – end of August

Robert Dardano gets moved into Covert Operations under Nancy Foster (Many) and Bill Foster.

5) After working in the O.D.C. for a short period which is part of the B-1 Bureau of the G.O., I was moved into the covert operations area of the B-1 Bureau called the C.D.C.

He then finds out who is in Foster’s spy ring.

6) The agents in our group were installed in jobs at the Boston Globe as a security guard (Jeff Fahey), the Federal Reserve Bank (Kathy Brown), Consumer’s Council (Nancy Foster), the Lindemann Mental Health Center (George Bristol), Better Business Bureau (Kathy Grace), the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General’s office (George Bristol), the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration (Susan Heffle) and other places where data could be collected. 4

  • Kathy Brown – Federal Reserve Bank; after Bristol bust she gets sent to ASHO to do the Saint Hill Special Briefing Course on the other side of the U.S. (Auditor magazine #116) then shows up at the Mission of Davis in Portland getting her grades auditing by 1977 (Auditor #136) listed as Clear #16,990, Boston (Auditor #163)
  • Nancy Foster (Many) – Consumer’s Council
  • Kathy Grace – Better Business Bureau
  • Susan Heffle – The LEAA (Law Enforcement Administration Association)

MR. DARDANO:
Right. Bureau 1 is — B 1, it’s the collections — the Information Bureau of the Guardian’s Office. 3

1974 – late summer

George Bristol placed in attorney general’s office –

1974 – October Having worn out his welcome in the Mediterranean Hubbard sets sail for the US.

Her intended destination was Charleston, South Carolina.

En route, however, she made a stopover at St. George’s island, Bermuda. The press coverage of her sojourn there, where a rock band from the ship staged a concert in conjunction with the local Department of Youth and Sports, apparently attracted the attention of DEA agents Frank Church and John R. Panetta.

[…] Informed by their spy aboard the Apollo [Scott?] that the ship’s next port of call would be Charleston on October 30, 1974, the Justice Department alerted officials from various federal agencies to prepare a welcoming party to meet the vessel when she came in. They included agents from the Immigration Office, DEA, U.S. Customs, Coast Guard, and U.S. Marshals.
(Playing Dirty,Omar Garrison,p. 79, 80)

1974 – October 24

Jerry McDonald is in communication with Captain Fox of Charleston customs about the Apollo.

Ref – Guardian Jane Kember, Guardian Order GO1344 of 10 October 1974 – Exhibit 43 from FBI files, PDF.

Hubbard intended to go to Charleston, SC but he is tipped off (presumably by Jerry McDonald) that the IRS and FBI agents are lurking around the harbor so Hubbard enters the Caribbean.

1974 – October 31

The Justice Department had a subpoena they wanted to serve on Ron Hubbard, so they tell U.S. Customs to notify them if the Apollo shows up at any port. Dick Weigand was working for the Guardian Office Intelligence Bureau. The Apollo was about to dock at the port in Charleston when Weigand warns them that Customs and a U.S. Marshall are waiting on the dock to serve a subpoena on Ron Hubbard. The Apollo flees to the port in Curacao.

1 November 1974 – article in the News and Courier newspaper in Charleston –

Ship Eludes Customs Agents
A large number of Customs agents were in Charleston to keep watch on the Apollo, suspected to be carrying large quantities of narcotics and possibly large amounts of illegal US currency. A U.S. Marshall was waiting to serve a subpoena on L. Ron Hubbard.

1974 – November and December

[Apollo] sailed directly to Freeport, in the Bahamas. During the next two months, the vessel plied between Freeport and Nassau without any unfriendly moves on the part of the Bahamian government.
(Playing Dirty,Omar Garrison,p. 81, 82)

1974 – Late

Robert Dardano replaces Nancy Foster Many. Nancy had refused to do B and E to get psychiatrist Stanley Cath’s files on Paulette Cooper.

Nancy Foster Many –

In my previous experience with the Intelligence Branch of the Guardian’s Office, I had at one time been asked repeatedly to either commit or organize a break into Paulette Cooper’s Psychiatrist’s office in Boston and remove a copy of her psychiatric file. The pressure for this operation was immense with daily telephone calls coming to Boston from higher ups asking that her psychiatric records be gotten. I refused to do it, as it would have involved breaking the law. I learned a basic thing about morals of a group that is not entirely ethical at the top. I was quickly removed from my job and other people more willing to turn their heads to committing criminal acts in the name Scientology were put in my place. The file was eventually removed and copied. Several weeks later and another break in was done to return the file. Within a week of that special operation being completed, the Team in Boston got a letter of High Commendation from L. Ron Hubbard himself.5

Meanwhile, we were getting more pressure than I had ever experienced before to get a copy of Paulette Cooper’s psychiatric file from her psychiatrist’s office in Boston. There were at least five phone calls a day to JW, pushing him to get the files. It ended up that the only way to get a copy was to commit a B and E, two of them actually, one to get the file out and copied and one to get it returned. It came to me as the head of covert operations to get it done. I didn’t even need to think of it; this was not listening to a casual conversation at work, pulling papers out of the trash, or even copying things—this was against the law. And personally, I had seen this woman and she just didn’t match the energy and hatred coming from on high in Scientology to hurt her. I refused.

I simply lost my position, and two others did the job. The file was copied and sent up-lines. Within the week, the Boston Intelligence Department got a telex relaying a job well done to the intelligence team in Boston from L. Ron Hubbard. There was no doubt in my mind as to where the heat to do something like that had come from.6

Replaced by Robert Dardano.

By late 1974, Dardano last year told a Clearwater, Fla., city commission, he was appointed head of “covert data collection” for the Boston church. In his sworn testimony, he said his immediate supervisor was William Foster, and both he and Foster reported to Deac Finn, then head of Branch 1 for the Boston Guardian’s Office. Clearwater is the world headquarters of the church.

…One of his first covert efforts, Dardano said, was breaking into the office of Dr. Stanley Cath, a Belmont psychiatrist. Cath had treated Paulette Cooper, a New York writer who in 1971 wrote “The Scandal of Scientology,” a book critical of the church.
In testimony before the city commission in Clearwater, Dardano said he was one of four Scientology members involved in the burglary.7

Side note – Project Owl

According to a church document seized by the FBI in its raids of church offices in Los Angeles and Washington, another break-in of Cath’s office was planned in 1976. The document, called “Project Owl,” said the files to be gathered included other material on Cooper and the file on a Scientology defector, who had demanded a refund of money donated to the church.7

Project Owl was about John F. Wise. For more information about all that see this website article. Exhibit 48 from the Clearwater Commission hearings provides documentation of Project Owl. Note that “Mike Cooper”, the originator of Project Owl is actually Mitchell Herman, and that “Kathy B” is Kathy Brown of Bill Foster’s Boston 7 spy ring.

1975 – Early

George Bristol –

According to Dardano’s testimony in Clearwater and interviews with him and Friske, the placement of Scientology church member George Bristol as a volunteer in the consumer affairs division of the attorney general’s office for several months in late 1974 and early 1975 was considered a coup. Bristol’s job was to screen consumer calls, and he would occasionally deal with someone complaining about Scientology.

“It was very difficult for a . . . person in Boston to make a complaint about the church and have it go anywhere,” Dardano said last year in his Clearwater testimony. “We had all the bases covered . . . If they called the attorney general’s office, George Bristol was sitting there . . . So, it was just, ‘Fine, ma’am, we’ll take care of it.’ and it wouldn’t go anywhere from there.”

Dardano and Friske said in their interviews that besides putting out such brush fires, Bristol used his position to call other states’ attorney general’s offices and ask what information they had on Scientology.

They said Bristol gathered considerable data and generated several written reports as a result of this activity.

…Dardano added in his interview that Bristol also posed as a representative of the attorney general’s office in a meeting with a group of parents of three Boston Scientologists, including Dardano’s own mother, who were contemplating suing the church. Again saying he represented Bellotti’s office, Bristol met with Mike Taibbi, a television reporter then with Channel 5, who was contemplating doing a story on Scientology based in part on information supplied by one of the parents. Taibbi confirms this. Bristol could not be reached for comment. 7

1975, February

Early in 1975, when the Apollo visited Santo Domingo and Kingston, Jamaica enroute to the Dutch West Indies, crew members who went ashore found that the heartell CIA story was being bruited about in both ports.

1975 – February 27

The Apollo arrived in Curacao. **is this drydock period? Yep, just found it.

Wikileaks Guardian’s Office document detailing events in the West Indies –

April 75 – A Department of State Telegram fron the American Consulate in Curacao to the Secretary of State in Washington, D.C. with copies to embassies in Caracas, Panama, Port of Spain, the Hague, and Comcaribeseafron Roosevelt Rds Pr, reported on “Limited Official Use’that the Yacht Apollo and OTC’s affiliation with Church of Scientology is new information to Congen and local authorities. Crew list was checked and several nanes noted such as that of Starkey. Confidential information received by Consulate General that indicated unusual crew changes are being accomplished while in Curacao. Apollo being repaired at Curacao dry dock and scheduled to depart for Trinidad on April 28.19

April 75 – Another Department of State Telegram from the American Consulate in Curaco reported on “Limited official Use” which gives innocuous information about the ship performing entertainment shows for local people. It states the Apollo crew menbers have performed up to three shows for no charge. This information is hard to consider as “Linited official Use”.19

1975 – March/April

During March and April, the Apollo cruised among the island of the Antilles, encountering in each port the same whispered allegations concerning the covert purpose and CIA connection of the ship.

A U.S. Department of State memorandum noted that “the Apollo has shuttled between Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao like a circus train, carrying entertainers, musicians, theatre groups, etc., who also double as crew on deck, watch and kitchen duties. Groups from the Apollo have performed, without charge, up to three shows a day, in all sections of the islands.

According to the U. S. Consul General, “has inspired speculation from the local business community and others concerning its [the Apollo’s] real purpose for being in the N.A. [Netherlands Antilles] … The secrecy, obvious liquidity and lack of visible support have spurred numerous rumors deducing Apollo as a CIA or Mafia cover, tax evasion scheme, currency manipulation center, etc.
(Playing Dirty,Omar Garrison,p. 81, 82)

1975 – April/May

George Bristol gets caught.

…he called the Justice Department in Washington asking for its files on Scientology. But Bristol’s cover was blown when someone representing Justice called back and asked if Bristol was authorized to request such information.

Thomas Kiley, Bellotti’s first assistant, confirmed that Bristol did work in the consumer affairs division as a volunteer. “I have no idea what any volunteer did in 1975, and nobody here has any memory of any volunteer calling other AG’s,” Kiley said. “. . . We know when we take volunteers that people can come in for an ulterior motive. We therefore confine them to nonsensitive matters, and supervise their duties as closely as possible.” 7

The story starts getting a bit sketchy here as to dates, ie: whether these events happened in 1975 or 1976, but allegedly after George “Monk” Bristol gets caught is when Scott Mayer gets called by Bill Foster who is worried he is going to go to jail. Nancy and Bill Foster had been sent to New York to be “away” from the area.

Scott Mayer on Apollo, then sent to New York here?

14. It was after I physically saw the Flagship’s project of altering invoices that I decided to leave the ship. I was newly married and something told me that if I was on the ship with my wife and the IRS made a raid and discovered that these invoices were changed I may be in deep trouble myself. Accordingly, I went to Kerry Gleason who was in charge of Operations for Flag at the time and requested that he send me and my wife off on what turned out to be a 14-18 month mission around the world to help make money for Hubbard and his various organizations. 14

1975 – May/June

Soon after the Apollo’s return to Trinidad, her captain was informed in a letter from the Minister of Legal Affairs in Barbados that no person from or in any way connected with the ship would forthwith be allowed into Barbados. The following day, the Chief of Immigration in Trinidad ordered the vessel to leave Trinidad, an action which the U. S. embassy reported with satisfaction to the State Department in Washington.

They went to Curacao, but upon their arrival in Willemstad, the slandered voyagers learned that “someone from Interpol” had paid a visit to the newspaper, the local chief of immigration, and others, providing them with a report from far-off Australia, denouncing Scientology as evil, and its adherents “sadly deluded and often mentally ill.”

So anyway, we did a refit in Curacao and LRH decided to land in the United States anyway. See, he never gives up his intention. He couldn’t land in the boat. He’s now going to land all the crew there. They all went in separate airplanes, different times, different places. In all, we filtered in two or three hundred people, mostly the foreigners first, then LRH and MSH filtered in. Of course, they travel always on separate planes for security. And then the last part was to get the ship all cleaned out. Ready for sale. (Captain Bill Robertson debrief from 1982)

I stumbled across a little of an invoicing fixing project when I was at Flag. I was the ship’s manager of the Apollo before it came into Florida. The Church was doing a little invoice changing project right underneath our office on the ship. And I got — my wife and I got sent out on a mission because I didn’t want to be here when the IRS got into — when they got into Clearwater. 2

But this telex was sent to the LRH’s — L. Ron Hubbard’s personal secretary in the United States by L. Ron Hubbard’s personal secretary on Flag, which was then located in the Netherlands Antilles. This was in, I believe, 1974 or ’75. The name of the person was Ken Erkhardt; he’s well known as the LRH personal secretary.

With translations, it reads: “To the LRH personal secretary OB regarding the ship.” At this time I had just inherited the flotilla of ships in the — on the west coast, and I became the fleet captain.

I rarely speak of how my ex-wife, Rheva Bittleman and I managed to leave the Apollo just prior to its entry into Daytona Beach, Florida and the establishment of the Church of Scientology International in Clearwater Florida, and stay out on mission for some 18 plus months. I assure you, it was no accident, but carefully planned on my part. At the time, I was LRH’s personal estates manager, and but for the slip up of a GO Finance staff member, I would probably have become embroiled with the Miscavige/Starkey takeover operation of the Church of Scientology and the Hubbard estates. This certain staff member was so filled with his importance as a GO Finance staff member, that during our dry-dock refurbishing of the Apollo in Curacao, he couldn’t resist showing off his current project. It was a room below decks, which even I as Ron’s personal estates manager, knew about. It was a massive invoice changing project preceding the arrival of the sea org on shore. Mary Sue Hubbard was weary of life at sea and had used the guardian’s office to scuttle the Sea Orgs fleet of ships financially. I was the last probably the first and last fleet captain leaving Rigg’s Eckleberry to scuttle the Excalibur as the last U.S. Ship in the Sea Org. There was a problem, however, in bringing the Apollo into Daytona, Florida, financial records, formerly unavailable to the United States Internal Revenue Service, could now be easily seized for them by U.S. Customs officials upon entry into United States coastal waters. Whoops!

Therefore, every document from anywhere which could possibly show inurement of funds from any of the Churches of Scientology, through Operations Transport Corp. or Operations Transport Services, Ltd. of Panama, to L. Ron Hubbard or his family. Had to be either destroyed or altered.

LIE – he wasn’t married, he was married in 1970 so why did he lie? Because he’s covering up the real reason all this is going down.

So, there I am, personally responsible for everything that’s going on aboard the Apollo, just married, and I find out that the largest single fraud against the IRS in history is underway aboard ship without any prior knowledge on my part.

As will be discussed in further detail below, I was already aware from my short time aboard, that Flag itself was not the Great White Canoe in the sky that it was promoted to be. Compared to my Flagship, the Excalibur, it was a veritable garbage scow when I arrived at Flag to assist then Director of Maritime Operations, Commander Robert [Bob] F. Young, in getting the Apollo cleaned up, ship-shape (and unknown to me, ready for sale on arrival in the U.S.). It was soon obvious to me that Commodore Hubbard was not the superman the rest of the world thought he was viz-a-vie his public relations departments around the globe.

As I dined with my new wife Rheva aboard my personal sailboat on the evening of my discovery of the invoice changing project, I knew I had to get us off that ship, or it was quite possible that my wife and I would be honeymooning in jail as a result of an IRS raid on the ship when it hit U.S. Waters.

I knew that Scientology and the Sea Organization would never be the same again once the Flag Land base was opened.

It dawned on me that both my wife and I had a proven track record as successful Sea Org Missionaries for Mr. Hubbard. I took advantage of my wife’s desire to see her parents, who were pestering us to take a vacation and visit them in Miami, and suggested that we go see Kerry Gleason, who was then in charge of International Sea Org Operations and see if there wasn’t trouble with income somewhere in the world which would be serious enough to get him to use LRH Mission needs to get us pulled off post and fired out to anywhere in the world but our jobs aboard the Apollo. Rheva was excited at both the opportunity to combine a mission with a trip to see her parents after we completed the mission and were successfully debriefed and had earned some time off and she cooperated with me in handling Kerry.

Our Guardian Angels were apparently with us, as Kerry had troubles aplenty with gross income statistics and was short of experienced staff to fire off on mission. We were off the ship in less than 48 hours. Except for trips back to Clearwater, Florida, the new Flag Land Base, every few months for de-briefing and re-briefing, we stayed out on mission as a husband and wife team for over 18 months, with Power income raising statistics. Ron and the Sea Org were of course very happy with our work because we made lots of money, which the land base needed to buy up the City of Clearwater and take over the community. We were awarded time off after every mission to go to Miami and see Rheva’s mom and dad.18

1975 – June/July

Foster calls Mayer

I received a call from Bill Foster, while in New York. I had been sent from the Apollo, which was operating in the Antilles at the time, to New York with my wife to operate the eastern seaboard for the Church on a management mission.

Mr. Foster had allegedly been expelled a couple of years earlier for misconduct or something in Boston.

I received a call from Bill Foster, and he came into the org. — we had been very close friends. And he came in with an incredible story. He said that he had, in actual fact, been operating the Guardian’s Office out of Boston and Washington and involved in a break — breaking and entering team. His cover had been blown because one of the operatives had been compromised* — at the time I didn’t know who that was — and the Church was going to leave him high and dry. In other words, they were not going to acknowledge the fact that he had been working for them. They were upholding the story that he had been expelled and was doing it on his own.

[* – George Bristol, plant at the Attorney General’s office in Boston ]

He came to me because, at that time, I was the senior executive authority on the eastern seaboard for the Church and in direct contact with Flag management. My mission was being run by telex on a daily basis. When he asked me if I could assist him, I called the person who was then in charge of the Guardian’s Office in Boston — this is Bob Raimer, who had also been a friend of mine, I had worked with him on a mission some years earlier in Boston — and I said: “Look it, Foster’s here, this is what he told me. Is it true? Has he been working for you in the field?” And he said, “Yeah. Yeah, he has.” 2

Conflicts with where he said he knew him from 1971? No. He knew him from when he was working as Operations under Alex Sybyrski in FOLO WUS.

For example, Alex Sibrisky’s former Deputy Commander, Bill Foster, turned up at the Sea Org headquarters in New York and told me a story about being involved with some other guys in break-ins of United States government offices, and possibly one senator’s office, where they had stolen materials that had to do with Scientology. He said that there were U.S. government agents after him and that Scientology and the Guardian’s Office had hung him out to dry. He was going to have to take a fall. Scientology was going to deny any connection with his activities. I knew that he had been allegedly routed out of Scientology for some sort of bad financing practices in Boston a few years earlier. I recalled there were allegations of improper ‘regging’ (high pressure sales) practices. I thought this was strange at the time because it was not like the Guardian’s Office to kick out real money makers.

Neither was it like Hubbard to kick out real money makers anywhere. As a result’of this conversation, I called up the Guardian’s office, Bob Reimer in Boston and said what’s the deal on Bill. He goes …, Bill? Bill Who? I said you know who I mean, and I told him the name and I said what’s the deal on him, and all Bob said was that “he was expelled a couple of years ago.”

I then said “that’s interesting because he is sitting right next to me here and he has just told me a story about” . . . and I started going into it. Bob said, “Don’t talk about that on the phone.” And I said, “So in other words, that does exist. That did exist and he has worked for you for the last two years undercover and nobody in Scientology knew that he was working on Guardian Office projects.” Bob hedged and hemmed and hawed. Then I said, “Listen, I am in a position here where I have to decide whether to take on Flag or not over this guy because he is saying that he has been working for some Scientologist in the Guardian’s Office all this time, but as far as everybody else in Scientology knows, this guy is persona non grata and an enemy of Scientology.”

So here I am, running Folo New York with my wife and this guy is asking me for asylum and wanting back on Scientology lines and he says he is being put out to dry. Moreover, Bob Reimer, head of the Guardian’s Office in Boston at the time, is denying it. So I said, Bob, you’ve got to tell me the truth. I’d worked with Bob before and he knew I would know if he is lying. Basically, when he said don’t talk about it over the phone I knew that they were afraid of somebody listening in, and so I said, did he work for you for the past two years under cover? And he said, well, yes.

I said Okay, thank you. So I then telexed Flag (the Apollo) and told them that Bill wanted back on (Scientology) lines and I told them that I did not know what was going on but I knew that he had been working under cover for the Guardian’s Office for two years. He wanted his Commission back and he said he was being hung out to dry. I said Bob Reimer told me that he had been working on lines under cover for two years, I said I was putting Bill back to work. Then all hell broke loose. There were talks about what he could not do here and they wanted me to kick him out and send him packing. To force Flag and the G.O. to confront the situation I sent Bill on a mission to the Toronto Org and got him out of the country.14

Scott Mayer in 1982 –

Illustrating his ability to help people leave the country, he said he once arranged passage to Canada in a matter of days for a Scientologist conspirator in Boston whose cover was blown. The church, he said, had left the man “high and dry.” 20

MR. ROBERT DARDANO:

[…]The Attorney General’s Office agent was — he had uncovered a couple of attacks coming from public people. And his cover was finally blown by the fact that he requested information on the Church from the Justice Department. This — Mr. Mayer mentioned Bill Foster’s name before. Bill Foster was the head of this — he was the captain of this particular group, and he had been there since 1971. He was operating the overt data/covert data collections from ’71 to ’76 in Boston. And it wasn’t until George Bristol’s cover was blown at the Attorney General’s Office that the line was disbanded and the group of seven people were sent to different parts of the country. 3

1975 or 1976 –

The next thing you know, Nancy and Bill Foster are split, Bill goes off to Canada to escape any legal ramifications, and I believe this is when Scott Mayer does his exit stage right, starting with going on mission.

Nancy theoretically somehow gets very quickly divorced somewhere in here (unless they were never married in the first place) and transfers to “Flag”. Alone and now unmarried she says, in the late 1970’s.

I worked in smaller, lower level scientology organizations for several years, both in New York and in Boston, before I got transferred to the International Management of Scientology. When I arrived, International Management had just left the ship called “Flag” and had opened their headquarters in Clearwater, Florida.

[…] It was in the summer of 1976 that I came to work at the International Headquarters, the Flag Organization, in Clearwater, Florida. […] In the late 70’s I was unmarried …Chris and I had married in the fall of 1978 and I became pregnant with Carey shortly after.5

1975, July

Hubbard suffers a heart attack/stroke while the ship is in harbour in Curacao. He is rushed (by Kima Douglas) to the local  hospital, kept in intensive care for two days and then transferred to a private room, where he stays for three weeks. (SOURCE: Bare Faced Messiah, Chapter 19–Kima Douglas testimony)

Scott Mayer – (gives the wrong year)

For god’s sake, the last time I talked to Hubbard was in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles in 1974, on the quarterdeck of the Apollo, he was shaking so bad it looked like he was going to have an epileptic seizure, his speech was slurred and practically unintelligible. I know he was trying to tell me something about the clouds and the day’s photo-shoot, but he just couldn’t manage to get it out.

He was just recovering from having a golf-ball sized cyst removed from the middle of his forehead, which he hid from everyone with his hats. 18

1975 July – Michael Shannon, an obscure and mysterious person in the history of Scientology, begins to take a very close look at the life of L. Ron Hubbard. He obtains Hubbard’s school records, his war record and conducts a general one man investigation of Hubbard. His work would later be circulated among those interested in the subject, including biographer Omar Garrison and Gary
Armstrong. Most of what Shannon unearthed was at complete odds with accounts of Hubbard’s life as published by Scientology.

1975 August –

Prime Minister Evertz demanded that the “ship of fools” be sent away from the sane and orderly shores of Curacao. Soon though his ship is ejected by the Dutch prime minister.

1975 – Scott gets sent to Africa

Mr. Mayer, you made mention of these files that were brought in here about the size of this room. The last time you were in Clearwater, do you know if those still existed?

‘MR. MAYER: The last time I was here in Clearwater I used them.

MR. BERFIELD: You used those files?

MR. MAYER: Sure. I was being briefed here for a mission.. I went out of here on a mission to go handle another area of the world. All of the data on those organizations resided here. It was used to evaluate the situation so somebody could determine that I had to go in the first place.   I didn’t just get — somebody didn’t just indiscriminately call me from a job of fixing up the Flagship Apollo to send me to South Africa to handle a situation.  2

1975 – August

The Sea org comes ashore in Daytona Beach, FL in great secrecy. The “Apollo” is sent back to the Caribbean.

1975 – October Apollo is sold

1975 – October 16

Rather innocuous cia cable.

CIA cable 16 October 1975 : ‘REVIEW OF AVAILABLE INFO REGARDING OVERSEAS ACTIVITIES CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY REVEALS ONLY THAT ITS FOUNDER L. RON HUBBARD IS ECCENTRIC MILLIONAIRE WHO HAS BEE EXPELLED FROM RESIDENCE IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES BECAUSE OF HIS ODD ACTIVITIES AND BEHAVIOR. HE IS OWNER OF SEVERAL SHIPS WHOSE APPEARANCE IN PORTS HAS STIMULATED QUERIES . . . FROM OTHER GOVERNMENTS ASKING INFO RE VESSELS MISSION AND CREW. RESPONSES INDICATE WE KNOW VERY LITTLE.’

1975 – December 6

Flag Land Base established when the Flag Bureaux and the Flag Service Organization moved to the Fort Harrison Hotel and Clearwater Building in Clearwater, Florida. Here, the Flag Service Organization provides services to Scientologists from all over the world.

Mayer said the Scientology Flag Land Base in Clearwater was the central point of his activities as a worldwide church “troubleshooter.” 20

Scott lies? He wasn’t getting orders from Clearwater for 7 years…or was he. Could be misdup by reporter.

Mayer said that during his seven years as a senior executive his orders “came from Clearwater, right here in your city.”

[…] He said he was sent to Scientology outposts around the world to handle resistance and devise ways to make more money. He said he combed purportedly private confessional records of auditing sessions, gleaning any personal information that could help in smear campaigns or any other way.

He said confessional files on all church members and mission files were stored in the former Bank of Clearwater building downtown, world headquarters for the Guardian Office, the sect’s enforcement arm. “That’s where I was briefed” for missions, he said. 20

1975? – Scott suddenly gets sent to the West Coast, and Bill Foster (head of Boston spy ring) goes to Canada.

Doesn’t jive with 1973/1974 fleet captain.**here this whole thing is a problem.

I had taken aircraft carriers through renovations while I was in the service. And I took the Apollo through one, so I knew what I was doing. And I was appointed as the captain. However, there were — the ship was sitting alongside the dock. You have to realize this ship cost — it was one hundred eighty-five feet long and it had a couple hundred crew members on it, and it was costing the Church five thousand dollars a week to sit there. That was our budget per week, five thousand dollars.

The Church wanted it out, cruising up and down the coast, doing recruiting, doing events, public events, where we could introduce people to Scientology and then usher them into the local organizations where the registrar would be signed up for courses. 2

1976 – June 16

The Soweto Riots – Scott and Rheva left South Africa and went back to Clearwater, Florida.

The Soweto riots of 1976 were the most brutal and violent riots that had taken place against the South African apartheid administration.

During a reorganisation of the Bantu Education Department of the government, the South African apartheid government decided to start enforcing a long-forgotten law requiring that secondary education be conducted only in Afrikaans, rather than in English or any of the native African languages. This was bitterly resented by both teachers and students. Many teachers themselves did not speak Afrikaans (an extremely difficult language to learn) and so could not teach the students. The students resented being forced to learn the language of their oppressors and saw it as a direct attempt to cut them off from their original culture.

By 1976, several teachers were ignoring the directive and were fired, prompting staff resignations. Tensions grew. Students refused to write papers in Afrikaans and were expelled. The students of one school after another went on strike. The government response was to simply shut the down schools and expel the striking students.

A protest march was organised in the black Soweto township just outside Johannesburg on June 16 1976. Over 20,000 students turned up to the march, followed closely by the police. The regular day-to-day tension between blacks and the apartheid regime’s police force was coupled now with the anger directed at the recent education act. Conflict began almost immediately, as police fired round after round of tear-gas and then guns into the crowds. The police showed no mercy attacked students of all ages, armed or unarmed. In the book, Kaffir Boy, a young boy called David described the police’s actions on the first day of the riot:

They opened fire. They didn’t give any warning. They simply opened fire…And small children, small defenseless children, dropped down like swatted flies. This is murder, cold-blooded murder“.

Scott –

The local political scene in South Africa, at the time I went — I left when twenty thousand Africans were marching on Johannesburg during the Zaire riots. I got out of town the day that happened, all right? So, the political scene was evaluated. And I was ordered to get my eh-eh out of there. 2

1976 – After June 16

Left Scientology

He said that while in Clearwater shortly before he left the sect in 1977 he worked at the Fort Harrison “setting up bunk beds to the ceiling. We were just packing them in like rats. This is routine.” 20

MR. MAYER:

[…] The basic command of the organization, for the entire Church of Scientology, when I left in 1966, was situated right here —

MRS. GARVEY :

’76.

MR. MAYER:

[…] was situated here in Clearwater, and had been on the Flagship Apollo. I was the ship’s manager just prior to the move here, and part of my job was getting the ship ready to come in here.

I did approximately eighteen successful missions for the senior top management of the Church all over the world, including South Africa, Scotland, Manchester, Saint Hill in England. I worked with Guardian’s Office staff members. I worked with Jane Kember; I worked with Mo Budlong. I did an intelligence mission in Scotland for the Church while I was there.2

Scott Mayer –

[…] after I left Scientology in 1976, I went into hiding at Laguna Beach. 14

My ex-wife and I smuggled two thousand dollars worth of rand apiece into this — into Clearwater on our last mission from South Africa in 1976. 2

In his last mission with the church, he said, he and his wife smuggled $200,000 in Krugerrands into the country from South America. 20

[…]The trip we made to South Africa was my last mission for the Commodore before leaving the Sea Org on a personal leave of absence.18

25. After leaving Scientology in 1976 I had managed to get Bob and Loy Young out of the Media Org at Flag. Bob Young was
originally a Director of Marine Operations and Flag Operations Liaison Office. When they got to Los Angeles, he told me that he had a friendly contact in the Guardian’s Office and was warned that he, his wife, myself and a few other people were on a hit list. I had no reason to doubt this information and so went into hiding. Scientology had already asked me to kill somebody, so why wouldn’t they ask somebody else to kill me, I reasoned. […] I was declared a suppressive person by the church  14

1978 – Christmas

Scott Mayer

In approx. 1978, I was the engineer at one of the Laguna Beach hotels. I ran into Scientology executives (David and Sue Anderson) in the street. Sue Anderson who was Hubbard personal PRO at the time and her husband David I believe was the Flag Ethics officer. Shortly after that, my car mysteriously caught on fire in front of a friend’s house when I was visiting one night and many of my Scientology papers in the trunk burned. On another occasion, the remaining Scientology papers I had disappeared from a storage site in the garage from an apartment I had in Ladera Heights*, California.14

*Ladera Heights is located in Southwestern Los Angeles county, 54 miles from Laguna Beach.

map_ledera_heights

[…] And I have a — and I have to admit to you that I’ve stayed pretty well in hiding for the last three years, after I had an experience when my car was blown up on Christmas Eve in 1978 in front of a place where the Church thought I was staying, but I was living elsewhere. I had planted that information with the Church so that I’d know if they were trying to contact me.2

When Scientology located Mayer living in Laguna, Ca., his car mysteriously exploded in a fire ball. 10

1979/80 –

After I left the Church of Scientology, I became a personal assistant to Martin Cohn, who in 1980 was senior counsel for the special cases division in the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). I became his assistant when the IRS went to trial against the Church of Scientology in what has become known as the Tax Court case. I sat in the courtroom with him and whenever a Church of Scientology witness would reference a policy that justified what they were doing or showed how goodthey were, I would write a note giving him a policy reference that allowed the Scientologist to bypass that policy. 14

Mayer said he went into hiding for three years after leaving the sect, until he was found by the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS used Mayer as a witness and consultant in the 1978 U.S. Tax Court trial concerning sect financial practices between 1968 and 1971, he said. 20

1981 – February, IRS Tax Trial

Scott Mayer

In testifying before the U.S. Tax Court, the day after my address went on the record, I was sued by the Church by my ex-wife, who, I assume, is still in Scientology. The transcript hadn’t even been published yet and they had my name and address and had a little kid come out and serve me papers. So, I was being sued, and I subsequently moved. I was under IRS protection at the time, anyway; they stayed at the house. So, I moved and I’ve been moving ever since.

They also pulled out my — what’s called a B1 File, during the Scientology hearings. And what it basically is is a list of the things that I have done wrong in the past that came out of my confessional folder.

[…] So, they brought out my B1 File. I didn’t even know it was that thick; I was rather flattered. I didn’t know they could get that much stuff out of it. And there were a couple of files sitting right next to me with — in the courtroom that had my name on it, and they didn’t have anything but my confessional folders and my B1 File. The B1 File comes out of the confessional folder. It’s a time sequence — day/time sequence — list of all of the things they feel they can use.

That’s a very good point. This was during the second day of the trial in Los Angeles, California that the files appeared.

MR. LeCHER:

Which trial is that?

MR. MAYER:

This is the U.S. Tax Court trial. The approximate time would have been around February of last year; it was about February of last year.

I was — about two days into it — you have to realize that my function during the trial was — when a Scientologist would get up on the stand and tell their version of what was going on in the Church, whenever they would either directly lie or when they would present a policy letter that was supposed to tell what kind of — what their policy was on the subject that was being discussed, I would reach over to Mr. Cohen and I would direct him to the policy letter, the definitions that opposed that. So, I was not very popular with the Church’s attorney, because we were shooting holes in their stories.

For the next couple of days, my folders arrived. And it was just nothing more than the standard attempt to intimidate me and let me know that they were going to try to make public what was in my confessional folders.2

“Friend” in Laguna Beach (that’s the Brotherhood of Eternal Love guy)

In addition, several Guardian’s Office members appeared at friends of mine’s houses looking for me during the trial. In fact, the day before I was supposed to appear, I got a telephone call from a Karen Kyper, who had — was originally out of the Minneapolis Organization and married to Bob Kyper, also a Guardian’s Office staff member. She and another girl harassed a friend of mine down at Laguna Beach; they were trying to get in touch with me before I went in and testified.2

1982 –

Michael Flynn lawsuits against Scientology begin, including a Class Action suit later on by a group calling themselves “FAIR.”

1982 – May 9 – Clearwater hearings

Scott gives his reason –

Mayer, who maintains a secret address, said he came to the hearings because going public may offer him some protection.

“I think enough light has been shed on the church that they’d have to be fools to start knocking people off,” he said. “I don’t intend to run from Scientology the rest of my life.” 20

1986 – late

Michael Flynn is representing dozens of clients in a suit against Scientology. He settles the suit but cannot obtain agreement for one of his clients to be silent, Scott Mayer, who was Hubbard?s Fleet Captain. The reason is that Mayer is working for the IRS as a paralegal and the IRS still has pending litigation with C of S. When Scientology located Mayer living in Laguna, Ca., his car mysteriously exploded in a fire ball. (Criminal Time Track: Issue III by Mike McClaughry)

Reasons given for leaving –

Scott Mayer – 1976

I stumbled across a little of an invoicing fixing project when I was at Flag. I was the ship’s manager of the Apollo before it came into Florida. The Church was doing a little invoice changing project right underneath our office on the ship. And I got — my wife and I got sent out on a mission because I didn’t want to be here when the IRS got into — when they got into Clearwater. 2

Scott Mayer – 1982

And the people who would like to come out, would like to resume their place in society and become productive members of the community, could come out and do it without being chastised for having made a mistake in joining the organization.

[…] I’m small potatoes compared to what some others out in the field have done, things that they’ve done and experienced. And I would like very much for them to feel free to be able to rejoin society and contribute to it, because that, in essence, was their main concern and reason for going into the Church in the first place: it was to help evolve the planet.

There’s a tendency to kind of group Scientologists together in terms of the reflection that the top management presented, but the average staff member is nothing more, as far as I’m concerned, than a psychological — a psychopolitical dupe

[…] The points that I would like to cover today are, basically: violations of clear cut — of policy, such as registration and operation of maritime vessels, violations of those rules; transportation of funds in and out of the United States illegally; the violation of Federal Communications Regulations on the use of telex and radio communication equipment; transportation of personnel into and out of the country in violation of immigration laws; conspiracy to impede the IRS; the use of cruel and unusual punishment; and the attempt to defraud the United States Postal Service. 2

About Pat Hunter –

And yet later – he gets falsely made a CAPTAIN out of the Panamanian Consulate in Los Angeles.

scott-mayer-ship-license-panama

Rough translation: The bearer of this card is suitable for even serve as captain of the national fleet. Ships of any tonnage and any sea. Scott A. Mayer.

Note that this was done by the Panamanian Consulate in Los Angeles, California, a well-known CIA foothold at this point in time.

5. In the course of being part of Scientology’s ship master’s program, I learned that the ships always had fraudulent licenses and papers. Such phony papers included radio licenses, ship’s papers, records, crew certifications, seaman’s certificates and other such matters. For this purpose, Scientology used Pat Hunter, a woman who lived in South America. She had an excellent command of the Spanish language and customs and would go to the Panamanian authorities and act as the intermediary between Operation Transport Corporation (Hubbard’s personal holding company) and the Panamanian consulate. Her name was Pat Hunter.

As a result of various subterfuges, we did not even have to provide proof that people had successfully completed various training programs to get certificates. Pat would just go to the consulate, give them some money, get the books made up and have them officially stamped. When a new crew member was posted to a ship, Pat would take the papers down to the consulate and have them authorized: ship’s papers, seaman’s papers, etc. When courses were established, certificates from basic seaman up through captains, deputy captains, first mates and others were awarded by course supervisors of Hubbard’s courses and then processed through the consulate as described above. 14

Which would include Scott’s Captain papers – he was no Captain.

And apparently, scientology was doing something in the Honduras at one time or another because Scott said this –

MR. MAYER: No. I was — I am registered as captain in the Honduran and the Panamanian Merchant Marines. 2

and this –

I’m qualified to run any tonnage in any ocean in any weather.

[by 1973] So, I was a qualified skipper. And I was appointed as the captain. However, there were — the ship was sitting alongside the dock. You have to realize this ship cost — it was one hundred eighty-five feet long [he’s talking about the Excalibur] ... 2

This could also be about Pat –

Hubbard had despatched Hana Eltringham on a top secret mission to re-register the Royal Scotsman in Sierra Leone. Hana first flew back to Las Palmas, where she collected a Spanish lawyer who had previously worked for the church, and then together they took a flight to Sierra Leone, Africa. In Freetown, the capital, it took thirty-six hours to complete the paperwork, during which time Hana bought a large Sierra Leonese flag. On 28 November, less than three days after leaving Britain, she was on her way back to Gatwick carrying the ship’s new documents. She took a cab from the airport direct to Southampton Docks.

‘I arrived back on board at about four o’clock in the afternoon and took the papers straight to LRH, who was having tea in the main dining-room with the ship’s officers. He was delighted to see me and very pleased to get the new registration, but as he was reading through the papers his eye caught something and he started to frown. I felt the familiar terror rising. “Did you notice this?” he said, pointing to the name of the ship on the papers. I looked and saw the “s” had been missed out and it was spelled “Royal Scotman”. I began to stammer an apology, but he suddenly smiled, grabbed my hand and began pumping it. “Double congratulations,” he said. “Now the ship has a new name as well.”‘ He instantly ordered painters to black out the second ‘s’ in the name on the bows, stern, lifeboats and lifebelts. (Miller: “Bare-faced Messiah”, pg. 274)

1974 –

She was one of the first partakers of scientology’s Rehabilitation Project Force (the RPF) created by Kenneth Urquhart, as well as helping to prepare what would become known as the Manor Hotel.

Note: Pat was not apparently put into the RPF until sometime after May 2, 1974, because she is still listed as staff of FOLO WUS and 5x club member in an issue titled: SO ED 270 INT, 2 May 1974,5X CLUB MEMBERS.

Howard Dickman writes: (also see this site)

The RPF was created the first part of January 1974.  By mid February 1974 I was on the Excalibur RPF.  The RPF was already functioning when I arrived, but there were just a few of us.  The Excalibur was sold sometime in 1975.  Looking back, I feel so very fortunate to have been a member of a select few who were actually on a real RPF and on a real Sea Org Ship.  The camaraderie that was formed back then has not been duplicated in my life since.

These are the people that I served with:

Stephen D. Ambrose
Frank Benjamin
Chris Bryne

In August the RPF was called off of the ship to help prepare the newly acquired Chateau Elysee [later called the Manor Hotel and it was the home of Celebrity Center Los Angeles] for FOLO [Flag Operations Liaison Office].

Note – Scott Mayer was the Captain of the Excalibur when this was going on, see main time-line 1973/1974.

1975 – July

Pat Hunter was promoted from Petty Officer 1st Class to Midshipman.16

Note: Mark Plummer, who posted about this and other 1975 promotions, wondered if “Hunter is the maiden name of Pat Silverman?

1975 –

Pat Hunter starts working for Jane Kember, then head of the Guardian’s Office World-Wide. Jane was called The Guardian. There is much more about this in the source reference, but this part is rather key –

10. […] Pat had been and still was very much the effect of former Guardian World Wide, Jane Kember, who was demonstrably GUILTY of numerous Suppressive Acts. This started when Pat was posted as LRH Communicator World Wide in 1975. […] she switched roles and became, in essence, Jane’s Communicator.17

1978 –

In the scientology publication Auditor #150, circa August 1978, Pat Hunter appears as Clear 7335.

1981 –

I, Virginia McClaughry, was in the Sea Organization at this time and I was in the same management organization that Pat Hunter was last part of before the “purge” of 1982.

This is a picture of the IMO staff – the International Management Organization taken in 1981. Pat Hunter is labeled “Pat” (see this discussion posting) and is next to Susan Krieger. I am in the front row, low, second from the right.

1982 – July and August

Pat Broeker and David Miscavige engage in a political purge. Virtually every senior church executive, except those that are under their influence, are pulled off post, comm-eved, and for the most part, declared and expelled.

Here is a partial list of these execs:

  • John Nelson – CO CMO INT
  • Kerry Gleason – ED INT
  • Allen Buchanan – Deputy ED INT
  • Moe Samuels – CO CMO SU
  • John Axel – SMI
  • Roger Barnes – ED SMI
  • Pat Hunter – LRH Communicator INTERNATIONAL
(Ron Hubbard’s personal communicator international, which means she was senior over “lesser” Hubbard communicators, a post then in each Scientology organization.)
  • Bess Sullivan – CO FOLO
  • Emil Gilbert – CO FOLO Canada
  • Chris Stevens – CO SU
  • Peter Warren – Div 6 INT
  • Jay Horowitz – FEBC Supervisor
  • Julie Gilespie – SNR C/S INT staff David Mayo – SNR C/S INT 15

A Committee of Evidence was convened (a scientology justice procedure) and the results were published in RTC Conditions Order #1-3 on 29 January 1983.

But she was still in scientology in the 1990’s – pictured in this Golden Era Production video about one of Hubbard’s 1950 lectures.

In the background we have Pat Hunter, Carl Leach, and Catherine Frasier. Pat was in Manufacturing, Carl Leach was a musician, and Catherine Frasier was in PR.” – Marc Headley description of scene.

pat_hunter_gold_video

I think this is her in a different Golden Era Productions film –

We fast forward past a bunch of shots where no one is recognizable to 2:50 where we get treated to some hardcore ashtray action. We have Mathias Gahwiler, Charles Johnson, Claude Lepage, Chris Ferris, Pat Hunter, Jennifer Champagne, Becky Hughes, Bettina Armstrong and Warren McShane’s wife, Marcy McShane.” – Marc Headley

I’m somewhat guessing here though, based on what Marc said, so if anyone wants to correct me on which one she is in these images please leave a comment.
