There was an interesting discussion buried in the comments of journalist Tony Ortega’s blog on June 9, 2017 concerning a new registration of Mark Rathbun’s blog as a domain name.
In the below, notice the commenter Pluviurii who says: To me, this is undisputable proof.
RTC stands for Religious Technology Corporation, an organization of the Church of Scientology.
Note that the first commenter says “registered the same day as many other […] domains owned by RTC“.
That is false.
It was not the same day.
In fact, this flurry of registrations by RTC happened a day later, after it would have been noticeable that Mark Rathbun had moved his blog to his own domain.
How do I know this?
The first is the domain registration itself, found through Network Solutions whois lookup (which is a function linked at the very bottom of their main page).
Here’s the domain registration for markrathbun.blog and please note that on Line 6, Creation Date, that “z” time is Greenwich Mean, which means this domain was registered for the first time at exactly 8:53 PM my time, Pacific Standard Time or PST, on June 7, 2017.
Please also note Line 4, Registrar URL as being WordPress.com.
What this means is that Mark chose a function that wordpress offers to its bloggers, that of registering a domain with the same name as ones ‘free’ blog, and will take care of everything for you once you choose that and pay for it. Clearly, that is what was done here.

Second, if you look at the registrations by RTC that were said to be “on the same day” as Mark’s change, you can see for yourself that positioning is false.
Here’s one example – martyrathbun.com and please note this was first registered in 2002, years before Rathbun actually left the church. Three years, to be exact. That is clearly noted on line 6 Creation Date.
Note the updated date, line 5. This means it was re-registered/renewed at 07:30AM “z” time, which is just after midnite my time, or 00:30 PST on June 9.

This was done more than 24 hours after Mark created his new domain.
I happen to know just how fast wordpress processed this request by Mark, resulting in switching over his domain name to point to his new markrathbun.blog domain.
Because I happened to be leaving a comment at his Going Clear, Part 1 post right before it happened – as visible in my Firefox history. Mark had set comments to on (or forgot to turn them off) for this post, as compared to his first post called Going Clear, Intro, so I left a comment.
Here’s a screenshot of my firefox history, edited to remove personal email account items of mine.
Notice that in the entry at the bottom, the URL for Mark’s blog still shows his former markrathbun.wordpress.com one at 9:00PM PST, then notice that the entry at the top shows the new blog domain kicking in – markrathbun.blog – just 28 minutes later at 9:28 PM PST.
If you scroll up to the exact time Mark registered this new domain through wordpress – you’ll see that it was at 8:53PM PST (my time, converted from the ‘z’ time noted) so that means it apparently only took wordpress 35 minutes to move everything on Mark’s blog to the new domain – called “pointing” to it. But, it was actually even faster than that, as you will see when I talk further about this below.
If a random user at Tony Ortega’s blog noticed this new domain change, you can bet the Church of Scientology did too. It is an indisputable fact that the Church of Scientology, through RTC, only updated/re-registered its domains after Mark made his new domain. Not the same day as.
It’s odd that the poster who noticed this change, happened to post about it within only an hour or two of RTC re-registering the domains noted already, including the one I discussed, and that this was then picked up by others as somehow being proof that Mark Rathbun was ‘back in the church’.
Others being Pluviurii – who I noted earlier as responding: To me, this is undisputable proof.
I am not making any adjudications here as to what Mark Rathbun is or isn’t doing, I simply find it highly specious that his registering his blog as a domain through wordpress is so erroneously presented as ‘the same as’ what RTC did with its domains, with the implication that this is somehow proof of Rathbun’s having gone back to the Church, or having been forced by them to do this.
It isn’t proof of that.
What it is proof of, is that Mark chose to register his blog as a domain which means he now has to pay for it once a year, but he also gets much, much more control over the content presentation, archiving, higher visibility in google possibly and logs of ALL traffic into his blog (including IP addresses) and not just for comments – which is all you get in the ‘free’ version of wordpress.
It is also proof that RTC followed his action with renewing their domains that bear a version of his name (Marty is a nickname) – a day late, I might add.
Finally, a word on the poster who picked up on all this and presented it as somehow being proof that Mark Rathbun was ‘back in the church’. (This is the same poster that presented that the comment left at Ortega blog was “indisputable proof”.)
There is some truly idiot logic being employed by this person, that should be pointed out as such. For example – Pluviur wrote at ESMB:
I thought the same thing. And until a few days ago, I was not convinced he was working for the Church. After all, we all know Marty is not mentally stable, and I find perfectly plausible a scenario where he thinks he in his infinite wisdom has discovered a great conspiracy.
BUT a few days ago, a buried comment in Tony Ortega’s blog convinced me he is working for the Church. You can see it here: https://disqus.com/home/discussion/t…ent-3351465741
That fact leaves us with two, and only two posible explanations:
1. Marty decided to change his blog url even though the last one was more known and free via wordpress, and now he has to pay for this one. For some unexplainable reason, he registers this domain anonymously although we all know who the website belongs to. And in the biggest coincidence I can think of, he does this thing the very same day the CoS renews all of it’s domains related to Marty. or…
2. The Church renewed all of its domains related to Marty the same day they expired, and markrathbun.blog was one of them. Then they gave that domain to Marty.
I have no more doubts Marty is working for the Church.
Don’t miss the immediate positioning of Mark Rathbun as mentally unstable, aka damaged or crazy in some way. An angle previously happily promoted by Karen De La Carriere in this same thread, by the way, post #143.
Claire Headley, wife of Mark Headley, the first INT base couple to sue the Cult, posted this in Facebook Group “The Outer Banks” I asked her permission to cross post this to ESMB and she was delighted to have me cross post.
Claire Headley QUOTE:
I always knew Marty was a deeply troubled individual. [snip]
Screenshot of Karen’s post: Notice that ‘Warrior’ liked the post. That is Mark Plummer who was involved in attacks on us at that same group Karen mentions called Outer Banks.
Coming back to this person’s (Pluviur) point 1: “decided to change his blog url even though the last one was more known“ is really uninformed because the person clearly doesn’t understand that ALL traffic directing at markrathbun.wordpress.com is now referred automatically by wordpress itself to the new domain of markrathbun.blog.
You can see it happening in this part (see below) of my firefox history when I was leaving my comment to his Going Clear, Part 1 post originally …it shows up as that odd “remote log in” entry as part of the process of referring me to the new domain.
As mentioned earlier, this shows that the new referral was working within 7 minutes of him registering his new domain through wordpress. That’s fast.
The poster’s next point of: “he registers this domain anonymously although we all know who the website belongs to” is also misleading because it is wordpress that registered the domain that way not Mark Rathbun.
The poster’s next point of: “in the biggest coincidence I can think of, he does this thing the very same day the CoS” is totally false.
Point 2 is the worst, it goes way over the top to try and portray Mark as guilty with totally false claims. Look closer: “The Church renewed all of its domains related to Marty the same day they expired, and markrathbun.blog was one of them. Then they gave that domain to Marty. “
Bolded parts – false on all accounts. It was not the same day, nor was markrathbun.blog a renewal – it was a brand new registration.
Finally, all of that is summed up as ‘proof’ by this sockpuppet poster, to form this conclusion: I have no more doubts Marty is working for the Church.
Notice that Karen De La Carriere (as Karen #1) puts a ‘like’ of this lying post –
This one is so bad that it raises the question of just why is it so important to these people to LIE in order to try and prove that Mark Rathbun “is working for the Church”.
That entire thread that this post was on (at the ESMB forum) is devoted to presenting that same conclusion, plus it has people like Len Zinberg, Karen De La Carriere, and Jeffrey Augustine trashing Mark Rathbun in just about every way imaginable.
As a side note, the most interesting development there, to me, though, is watching Jeff and Karen try to deny Hubbard’s intelligence history with the lamest excuses I think that I have ever seen. It’s as if they are literally in a total meltdown and are so upset and terrified that they can’t even think straight.
I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.
All I have to say about all of this, for the moment anyway, is that:
People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks.
Do not criticize others if you have similar weaknesses yourself.
