Talking about having the larger view come into clear focus –

I came across this article when I was reading through the 600+ page Senate Hearings on Behavior modification. It’s called:Torture Cure by Jessica Mitford for Harper’s magazine, August 1973.

It was reprinted in a prison magazine called The Communicator in October 1974.

You can also read it as Item VI.D.5 starting on page 632 of this:

Individual Rights and the Federal Role in Behavior Modification; A Study Prepared by the Staff of the Subcommittee on Constitutional Rights of the Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, Ninety-Third Congress, Second Session; published November 1974; 655 pages. – found at Black Vault’s MKULTRA archives.

.

The article starts out discussing a 1962 Seminar chaired by James V. Bennett, then director of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, as described in Corrective Psychiatry & Journal of Social Change, second Quarter, 1962.

Addressing himself to the topic “Man Against Man: brainwashing,” Dr. Edgar H. Schein, associate professor of psychology at MIT, told the assembled wardens:

Dr. Edgar H. Schein

edgar_schein

My basic argument is this:

in order to produce marked change of behavior and or attitude, it is necessary to weaken, undermine, or remove the supports to the old patterns of behavior and the old attitudes…

this can be done either by removing the individual physically and preventing any communication with those whom he cares about, or by proving to him that those whom he respects are not worthy of it and, indeed, should be actively mistrusted.

Dr. Schein, who said he got most of his ideas from studying brainwashing techniques used by North Korean and Chinese Communists on GI prisoners of war, cautioned his audience not to be put off by this fact

These same techniques in the service of different goals may be quite acceptable to us…I would like to have you think of brainwashing not in terms of politics, ethics, and morals, but in terms of the deliberate changing of human behavior and attitudes by a group of men who have relatively complete control over the environment in which the captive population lives.

.

Some of the techniques he felt could be usefully applied in the U.S. Prisons:

  • “Social dis-organisation and the creation of mutual mistrust”

to be achieved by

  1. “spying on the men and reporting back private material”
  2. “tricking men into written statements” that are then shown to others, the objective being –
  • “to convince most men they could trust no one”

Other methods –

  1. “undermining ties to home by the systematic withholding of mail.”

The key factor, per Dr. Schein, is change of attitude:

Supports for old attitudes have to be undermined and destroyed if change is to take place….Do we not feel it to be legitimate to destroy the emotional ties of one criminal to another, or of a criminal to a sick community?

How to bring about the desired change was further explained by Dr. Schein:

If one wants to produce behavior inconsistent with the person’s standards of conduct,

  • first disorganize the group which supports those standards,
  • then undermine his other emotional supports, then put him into a new and ambiguous situation for which the standards are unclear
  • and then put pressure on him.

I leave it to you to judge whether there is any similarity between these events and those which occur in prisons when we teach prisoners ‘to serve their own time’ by moving them around and punishing clandestine group activity not sanctioned by the prison authorities.

.

Dr. Bennett recalled that “during the war we struggled with the conscientous objectors – nonviolent coercionists – and believe me, that was really a problem…we were always trying to find some way in which we could change or manipulate their environment..”

“On ways of dealing with the unruly” a panelist offered this:

To some extent where we formerly had isolation as a controlling technique, we now have drugs, so that drugs in a sense become a new kind of restraint. The restraint, therefore, is biochemical, but it is restraint nevertheless.

.

One way we can tell that the recommendations presented at this 1962 seminar were clearly taken to heart by his subordinates in the federal prison system, is from a report addressed to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, prepared and smuggled out of Marion General Penitentiary in July 1972 by the Federal Prisoner’s Coalition, a group of convicts housed in the segregation unit for refusing to participate in the behavioral research programs.

In the latter part of 1968 some changes in the U.S. Department of Justice [like the formation of the LEAA] enabled the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to make a quiet beginning at implementing an experimental program at Marion Federal Prison to determine at first hand how effective a weapon brainwashing might be for the U.S. Department of Justice’s future use,” says the report.

It describes how Dr. Martin Groder, prison psychiatrist, applies the proposals outlined in Dr. Schein’s paper to “agitators,” suspected militants, writ-writers, and other troublemakers.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Groder

The first step, according to the report, is:

  • to sever the inmate’s ties with his family by transferring him to some remote prison where they will be unable to visit him.

There he is put in isolation, deprived of mail and other privileges, until he agrees to participate in Dr. Groder’s Transactional Analysis program.

If he succumbs, he will be moved to new living quarters where he will be surrounded by members of Dr. Groder’s “Prisoner thought-reform team,” and subjected to intense group pressure.

His emotional behavioral, and psychotic characteristics are studied by the staff and demiprofessional prisoners to detect vulnerable points of entry to stage attack-sessions around.

During these sessions, on a progressively intensified basis, he is shouted at, his fears played on, his sensitivities ridiculed, and concentrated efforts made to make him feel guilty for real or imagined characteristics or conduct…

Every effort is made to heighten his suggestibility and weaken his character structure so that his emotional responses and thought-flow will be brought under group and staff control as totally as possible.

…It is also driven into him that society, in the guise of its authorities, is looking out for his best interests and will help him if he will only permit it to do so. Help him be ‘reborn’ as a highly probable ‘winner in the game of life.‘ is the way this comes across in the group’s jargon.”

Once reborn as a winner, he will be moved into a plush living area equipped with stereo; tape recorders, typewriters, books. He is now ready to indoctrinate newcomers into the mysteries of the group “and like a good attack dog, he is graded and evaluated on his demonstrated capacity to go for the vulnerable points of any victim put before him.

The entire program is made self-perpetuating and economically feasible by the participants doing the work themselves, says the report:

They are taught to police not only themselves but others, to inform on one another in acceptable fashion- as bringing out misconduct of another in a truth-session is not considered informing even if a staff member is present.

Jessica writes –

A further elaboration on the brainwashing theme is furnished by James V. McConnell, professor of psychology at the University of Michigan, in an article in the May 1970 issue of Psychology Today titled, “Criminals Can Be Brainwashed- Now.” It reads like science fiction, the fantasy of a deranged scientists.

Yet much of what Dr. McConnell proposes is either already here or in the planning stages in many of the better financed prison systems.

Dr. McConnell, who spent many years successfully training flatworms to go in and out of mazes at his bidding by administering a series of painful electric shocks, now proposed to apply similar techniques to convicts:

I believe the day has come when we can combine sensory deprivation with drugs, hypnosis and astute manipulaton of reward and punishment to gain almost absolute control over an individuals’ behavior…

We’d assume that a felony was clear evidence that the criminal had somehow acquired full-blow social neurosis and needed to be cured, not punished…

We’d probably have to restructure his entire personality.

James V. McConnell

James V. McConnell

Jessica informs us –

Noting that the “legal and moral issues raised by such procedures are frighteningly complex,” Dr. McConnell nevertheless handily disposes of them:

I don’t believe the Constitution of the United States gives you the right to commit a crime if you want to; therefore, the Constitution does not guarantee you the right to maintain inviolable the personality forced on you in the first place – if and when the personality manifests strongly antisocial behavior.

I can’t even believe that man would even try to offer such a completely asinine excuse, can you?

horror.

What an idiot.

Jessica also tells us about an experiment regarding sensory deprivation as a behavior modifier in which students were paid $20 a day to live in tiny, solitary cubicles with nothing to do. The experiment was supposed to last at least six weeks, but none of the students could take it for more than a few days: “Many experienced vivid hallucinations – one student in particular insisted that a tiny spaceship had got into the chamber and was buzzing arund shooting pellets at him.

But here’s the really interesting thing Jessica tells us were part of the results documented –

While they were in this condition, the experimenter fed the students propaganda messages:

No matter how poorly it was presented or how illogical it sounded, the propaganda had a marked effect on the students attitudes-an effect that lasted for at least a year after they came out of the deprivation chambers.

That’s interesting.

Next, let’s take up this all by itself.

– Dr. Schein at the Bennett Seminar in 1962

.

I have long known that the real interest in ‘brainwashing’ was actually about doing it to people, not because of any “we’re against it”.

The term first showed up in the most duplicitous and hypocritical of sources possible – Allen Dulles.

In one of those fits of hypocrisy he would become well known for, three days before he would launch Project MK-Ultra on April 13, 1953 – that would begin more than a decade of the most heinous human experiments you can imagine when he approved the first sub-project – Mr. Dulles gave a speech at an Alumni conference of Princeton grads.

You can read all about his speech in my post: Where Did The Term “Brain Washing” Actually Come From? – Hint: Not Pavlov but the reason I am bringing it up is particularly these parts:

…In our conception of the perversion of individual minds the term “brainwashing” seems aptly to describe this phase of brain warfare.

…the perversion of the minds of selected individuals who are subjected to such treatment that they are deprived of the ability to state their own thoughts. …In effect the brain under these circumstances becomes a phonograph playing a disc put on its spindle by an outside genius over which it has no control. [L. Ron Hubbard’s reactive mind description in 1950 Dianetics book]

…it is necessary to close off with an impenetrable barrier the area within which the operation is to take place…physical and spiritual barrier…isolated…from the outside world.

…there must be a considerable period — probably a minimum of around three months — to properly indoctrinate the intended victims.

endless interrogation by teams of brutal interrogators while the victim is being deprived of sleep.

One victim, Shipkov writes;

…One: they are not over interested in what you tell them.

It would seem that the ultimate purpose of this treatment is to break you down completely and deprive you of any will power or private thought or self-esteem…they appear to place importance on the parallel appearance of repentance and self-condemnation…

Brain Warfare Summary of Remarks by Mr. Allen W. Dulles at the National Alumni Conference of the Graduate Council of Princeton University, Hot Springs, Virginia, April 10, 1953

Probably the most hypocritical thing in his entire speech is this:

“…we have no human guinea pigs, ourselves, on which to try out these extraordinary techniques.”

Considering he’s just about to embark on in Project Mk-Ultra, which would do exactly that, please bear in mind this was never, ever, about some race against “the Russians”.

“Communism” and the ‘threat of nuclear war” were chosen enemies, chosen purely to justify the budget (and the creation) of the CIA as a continuation of its British/Vatican/OSS activities from WWII.

From Scientology, A CIA Tailored Religious Front Group For Political Action (Why it became a religion) –

Miles Copeland, CIA NOC agent (who became Ron Hubbard’s handler in 1955) tells us about choosing this “enemy” –

General Magruder went on to say that he’d spent the past month talking intelligence organization in high places, that he hadn’t heard a word to indicate that President Truman’s words had reached the planners.

The top people in the Departments of State, army, navy and air force were busily concocting dangers that would justify increases in their respective budgets, and they had developed a whole new glossary of cliches for the purpose, ‘preventing another Pearl Harbor’ being one of them.

‘No one,’ [Magruder] said in answer to my question, ‘is asking what, realistically, we Americans have to fear in the post-war world.’

– Miles Copeland, The Game Player, this and other information from Miles discussed in my article Forget The Idea That Scientology was “taken over” – It never was anything else.

.

Miles tells us in his book that Fear of Russia (communism) and Fear of Nuclear War – are what was chosen.

So now, they used WWII as a cover to conduct all the earlier heinous experiments going on in Nazi Germany, so they needed a new excuse to continue and now to try it on Americans – and that’s what MKULTRA was all about.

I’d like to also take a moment to focus on the key aspect of brainwashing, what they are looking for, the goal of it.

the parallel appearance of repentance and self-condemnation…

In the TV series Ray Donovan, Season 3, Episode 7, Ray meets with a Catholic priest who hides (and prevents from going to jail) Catholic priests who have sexually abused children. The priest is trying to sell Ray on the idea that his abuser “atoned” and “took responsibility”, and Ray gets up to leave because he ain’t buyin’ it. The priest then tries to act like he has “something to offer him.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

.

Ray isn’t buying that either – with good reason. But he asks him if he confesses then he won’t go to the cops? The priest doesn’t actually answer that, he just says admit what you did, why you did it and all will be forgiven.

Ray decides to go give it a try –

Ray donovan-Father-Romero.

Once in the confession box though – he realizes this is wrong and leaves. The priest starts freaking out and tells Ray “Repent now or face excommunication“.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The priest starts repeating what he said over and over and Ray turns to him and says:

I’m the sinner?
You hide and protect these priests who should be dead or in prison and I’m the sinner?”

Im_the_sinner_-_ray_donovan.

The priest strikes a nerve when he tells Ray “I know how much you loved him” and Ray beats him up and says “Fuck you.” The guy goes nuts and starts speaking in Latin and then tells Ray he is denied “the communion” and he is anathemitized. (same thing as being declared Suppressive in scientology)

You are anathematized!!

anathematized_ray_donovan.

There are a lot of things wrong with how this scene is presented, for one thing a priest doesn’t have the power to do that unless it was with some sort of special dispensation, but the really powerful point here is just how insane these people go when they don’t get their way, cannot bring someone to their knees to repent to them. And it is to them, “God” is nowhere to be found in this equation – especially not in the Catholic church.

In case it fails to dawn on you the significance of the corollary here of brainwashing with the Catholic Church and psychiatry, let’s have a look at a condensed version of several of my articles on this topic.

Let’s start with what is that “anathematized” business all about.

To understand the word anathema (a Greek word) we need to look at the word herem (Jewish) of which it is the equivalent. Herem comes from the word haram, which means to cut off, to separate, to curse, and indicates that which is cursed and condemned to be cut off or exterminated, whether a person or a thing.

This is the sense of anathema in the following passage from Deuteronomy 7:26:

Neither shalt thou bring anything of the idol into thy house, lest thou become an anathema like it. Thou shalt detest it as dung, and shalt utterly abhor it as uncleanness and filth, because it is an anathema.

This is giving you the attitudes and views that one “should” have towards people/things that are anathema.

  • Detest as dung (shit)
  • Utterly abhor
  • Unclean
  • Filthy

If any man love not our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema.
-1 Corinthians 16:22

Anathema is an exclusory term, and is most especially pronounced chiefly against heretics.

heretic – One who challenges the doctrines of an established church.

The Catholic Church has a ceremony it still does to this day, for pronouncing Anathema. It is called Ordo excommunicandi et absolvendi sometimes referred to as the bell, book and candle.

The ceremony distinguishes three sorts of excommunication:

  • minor excommunication, incurred by a person holding communication with anyone under the ban of excommunication;
  • major excommunication, pronounced by the Pope in reading a sentence;
  • anathema and maranatha – the penalty incurred by crimes of the gravest order, and solemnly promulgated by the Pope.

Marinatha  is a command for the Lord to come and “strike” the person “by the sword of heaven”. It is a special category added to anathema, for those who were guilty of the crime of high treason.

He who dares to despise our decision, let him be stricken with anathema maranatha, i.e. may he be damned at the coming of the Lord, may he have his place with Judas Iscariot, he and his companions. Amen.”
– Benedict XIV (1740-58–De Synodo dioecesana X, i)

The ceremony, in English –

“Wherefore in the name of God the All-powerful, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, of the Blessed Peter, Prince of the Apostles, and of all the saints, in virtue of the power which has been given us of binding and loosing in Heaven and on earth, we deprive N– himself and all his accomplices and all his abettors of the Communion of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, we separate him from the society of all Christians, we exclude him from the bosom of our Holy Mother the Church in Heaven and on earth, we declare him excommunicated and anathematized and we judge him condemned to eternal fire with Satan and his angels and all the reprobate, so long as he will not burst the fetters of the demon, do penance and satisfy the Church; we deliver him to Satan to mortify his body, that his soul may be saved on the day of judgment.”

.

You can see the emphasis on “repent” – same as what Allen Dulles said the brainwashing goal was.

Reducing someone in power and intelligence to a drooling state physically and amentia mentally, or any variation thereof wherein they “break” the person, priests psychiatrists are doing quite literally God’s work.

2 Corinthians 7-10:

“And to keep me from being too elated by the abundance of revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I besought the Lord about this, that it should leave me;  but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

.

This little discussion of it should enlighten you further, because in it a Catholic priest instructs people that a proper interpretation of this would be for you to fall to your knees in tears, and repent.

Just like the priest was asking character Ray Donovan to do – Repent!

Forgiveness - Come to the chapel and CONFESS

.

I’d like to show you some early psychiatrists statements along these same lines. I think you’ll be amazed how they follow right in line with these religious (and wholly lacking in science) teachings.

*The following quotes are taken from One Hundred Years of Psychiatry by Emil Kraepelin. I found the English translation archived at the Internet Archive where you can read it for free.

Starting with British psychiatrist Thomas Willis – a direct parallel of the Catholic Church’s modus operandi.

“… the doctor ought to seem like …a visible image of God…”

Substitute a Catholic Pope, a prison warden, a scientology auditor, or a SEED “counselor” there and you have the exact same idea being done.

The plan –

…a “breaking of the will” or a penetration into the will of the patient, was a necessary part of any complete cure. – Autenreith

The Methods –

To subjugate the patient, the doctor had first to deprive him of every prop and make him feel absolutely helpless. That is why he had to be taken from his home and his accustomed surroundings and brought under lugubrious and frightful circumstances …to a strange asylum. – Kraepelin

…shocks him by making him aware of his confinement and causes him to suspect or realize the fruitlessness of any attempt to stir up troubles. – Horn

Through strong, painful impressions we get the patient’s attention – Reil

He [Schneider] expressed the hope, along with Horn, that continuous suffering would enable the patient “to regain consciousness of his true self.  – Schneider and Horn

sustained nausea prevents the mental patient from becoming immersed in his own thoughts. – Schneider

…he reasoned that isolation, hunger, and defamation were important corrective measures. …Erhard had seen an asylum in which filthy patients were put atop posts. “This was effective, ” he said, “because they were terrified by this disgrace.” – Reil

Humiliate the proud patient and make him acutely aware of his worthlessness and dependencyVering

….repressing arrogance…eliminating excessive pride. – Esquirol

The Result –

the subjective personality is figuratively destroyed and that the psyche …no longer recognizes its own personality.  – Schneider

.

To gain what?

…unconditional obedience. – Reil

make them obedient, orderly and calm – Horn

obedience.
– Haindorf

submitted blindly to his instructions. – Heinroth

they must immediately submit to whatever is required of them  – Pinel

.

If you’re not crazy now – you will be.

im not afraid you will be

.

Now take a look at the points of the later men, Schein and Groder that we discussed at the beginning of this.

Dr. Edgar H. Schein, 1962

The goal –

…in order to produce marked change of behavior and or attitude, it is necessary to weaken, undermine, or remove the supports to the old patterns of behavior and the old attitudes… – Schein

The method overview-

this can be done either by removing the individual physically and preventing any communication with those whom he cares about, or by proving to him that those whom he respects are not worthy of it and, indeed, should be actively mistrusted. – Schein

The method specifics –

  • “Social dis-organisation and the creation of mutual mistrust”

to be achieved by

  1. “spying on the men and reporting back private material”
  2. “tricking men into written statements” that are then shown to others, the objective being –
  • “to convince most men they could trust no one”

Other methods –

  1. “undermining ties to home by the systematic withholding of mail.”

  • and then put pressure on him.

.

See all the similarities with all the 1800’s and early 1900’s psychiatrists? Same old isolation, humiliation and Torture Cure routine, and even though it fails, fails again, and fails some more, see how they keep insisting on doing it?

Why?

Because they’re obsessed with knowing what is in other people’s minds, and they are also obsessed with torturing people. It’s like some kind of drug to them or something.

In one of the initial founding documents of the predecessor to the MKULTRA project – Project Artichoke – as CIA director Allen Dulles laid out the confidential parameters of what they were searching for – hidden control of another’s life.

Note: the following document is on Black Vault’s cd #1 main directory.

Doc 4 – The Elements of “The Problem
by CIA director Allen Dulles, 28 January 1952

Whether or not, and to what extent, any agent or procedure can be used to cause an individual to become subservient to an imposed control; and subsequently that individual be unaware of the event.

artichoke_-_attachment_a_of_28_jan_1952_-_how_to_impose_control_on_the_will_of_a_person

Medical Science, particularly in the fields of psychiatry and psychotherapy, has developed a variety of techniques whereby some control can be imposed on the will of an individual. The techniques include neuro-surgery, electric shock, drugs, hypnosis and others.

.

Unfortunately, from their perspective, they were having trouble actually truly enforcing their wishes on the will of another – which was the real reason for MKULTRA. They were trying to figure out how to do it.

Frederic Myers observed this disagreement ‘problem’ more than a hundred years ago –

…we must remember how much of psychical operation goes on below the conscious threshold, imperfectly obedient to any supraliminal appeal.

– The Human Personality and Its Survival of Bodily Death by Frederic Myers Volume I, Chapter 3

One of the methods Dulles and his pet monkey psychiatrists were studying was just like parts of what you see character Ray being subjected to – religious conversion.

In William Sargant’s blusteringly self-congratulatory book called: Battle for the Mind: A Physiology of Conversion and Brain-washing, you can see all the qualifiers being put on what he called “the processes” by which religious conversion may occur:

By increasing or prolonging stresses in various ways, or inducing physical debilitation, a more thorough alteration of the person’s thinking processes may be achieved….If the stress or the physical debilitation, or both, are carried one stage further, it may happen that patterns of thought and behavior, especially those of recent acquisition, become disrupted. New patterns can then be substituted, or suppressed patterns allowed to reassert themselves; or the subject may begin to think or act in ways that precisely contradict his former ones.

More specifically with respect to brainwashing (and still with qualifiers every which way) there it is again:

If a complete sudden collapse can be produced by prolonging or intensifying emotional stress the cortical slate may be wiped clean temporarily of its more recently implanted patterns of behavior, perhaps allowing others to be substituted more easily.

The parallel with the later MKULTRA Dr. Ewen Cameron’s theory of differential amnesia is striking, and the relationship to brainwashing is also abundantly clear. By 1953, Cameron had begun to try his hand at seeing whether he could reliably (and stably) produce what Sargant was talking about.

Ewen Cameron

Donald_ewen_cameron

He published a paper called The Transition Neurosis on February 26, 1953, where he discussed some of he and Sargant’s methods.

Sargant (1951) has described what little we know of the dynamics of these political and religious conversions and has attempted to duplicate them, but from what we gather, with somewhat limited success. He used depleting emetics. We have explored this procedure in one case, using sleeplessness, disinhibiting agents, and hypnosis.

Cameron began his work with the CIA just a few months later, in June of 1953, later getting his very own MKULTRA sub-project – number 68. Sub-project 68 was Dr. Ewen Cameron’s “research” supposedly about seeing if he can erase someone’s memory and personality and then re-program them with a new one.

MK Ultra Subproject 68 documents are filed under “68″ at The Black Vault, on disk 4 in the folder numbered 17468.

For easier viewing I have recently created an ocr’d PDF of all the documents for just that sub-project.

Here’s an example document talking about his psychic driving, as he called it.

Document #49 –

ewen cameron mkultra subproject 68

Document #52 mentions drugs that Ewen Cameron was using – notice that Anectine is on it. You’ll see why I am pointing that out a little later on here.

LSD25_is_purely_to_break_down_patterns_of_behavior

“We propose to use LSD25… as a means of breaking down the ongoing patterns of behavior.”

Cameron did use LSD as a behavior modification tool. The CIA would soon distribute LSD all over America as a behavior modification method. After altering the personality with LSD, they then installed the new ideas they want people to have using religious movements such as Moral Re-Armament and Scientology.

One of the other techniques Cameron was using was sensory deprivation, which Harold Wolff had pioneered, but he also borrowed the idea of using someone’s own experiences from their past to “create reactions” in them.

He proposed keeping his patients in sensory deprivation until they “show an increased desire to talk and to escape from the procedure. Then, he said, doctors could “utilize material from their own past experience in order to create psychological reactions within them.”

 – The Search For The Manchurian Candidate by John Marks, section on Harold Wolff and Lawrence Hinkle
Sensory_Depravationsensory_deprivation_suit_and_tankSensory deprivation image from 1963 film The Mind Benders

.

As per John Marks, Search For The Manchurian Candidate:

According to his papers, … Cameron injected subjects with curare in conjunction with sensory deprivation, presumably to immobilize them further.

For the “sensory deprivation”, Rubenstein had specially built a “box” in the converted stables directly behind Allan Memorial which is also where the “behavioral laboratory” was. Cameron left one woman in for 35 days, but try as he might, Cameron could not get through to her.

As the aloof psychiatrist wrote in his notes: “Although the patient was prepared by both prolonged sensory isolation (35 days) and by repeated depatterning, and although she received 101 days of positive driving, no favorable results were obtained.” 56

But see, when all was said and done with Hinkle and Wolff’s earlier experiments, they revealed that it was not drugs or bizarre tortures that resulted in confession; it was sleep deprivation and psychological warfare techniques that produced anxiety to such an extreme degree that “normal coping devices” could not prevail.

When the person reached this “state” Hinkle and Wolff would then present themselves as friend and saviour.

Just exactly the same as the Catholic Church has done for centuries, just exactly the same as what Mayer-Gross was doing with insulin treatments and shock therapy – just like I showed you that McConnell, more than 10 years later, was still coming up with trying to do this crazy crap to people!

We’d probably have to restructure his entire personality.

They never change, isn’t that something? That’s not science, that’s plain old stubbornness.

– – –

Now let’s take a look at a couple of other very important disclosures in Jessica’s article –

Death Therapy.

Kiss of Death.

The “behavior modification” programs are for the most part carried out in secret. They are not part of the guided tour for journalists and visitors, nor are outside physicians permitted to witness them. Occasionally word of these procedures leaks out, as in the autumn of 1970, when Medical World News ran an article titled “Scaring the Devil Out” about the use of the drug Anectine in “aversion therapy” in the California prisons.

Anectine, a derivative of the South American arrow-tip poison curare, is used medically in small doses as a muscle relaxant, but behavioral researches discovered that when administered to unruly prisoners in massive amounts – from twenty to forty milligrams – it causes them to lose all control of voluntary muscles.

An unpublished account of the Anectine Therapy program at Vacaville, California, by two of the staff researchers there, Arthur L. Mattocks, supervisor of the research unit, and Charles Jew, social research analyst, states that “the conceptual scheme was to develop a strong association between any violent or acting-out behavior and the drug Anectine and its frightful consequences,” among which were “cessation of respiration for a period of approximately two minutes’ duration.”

Of those selected to endure these consequences, “nearly all could be characterized as angry young men,” say the authors. Some seem to have been made a good deal angrier by the experience, for the report notes that of sixty-four prisoners in the program “nine persons not only did not decrease but actually exhibited an increase in their overall number of disciplinary infractions.”

According to Dr. Arthur Nugent, Chief psychiatrist at Vacaville and an enthusiast for the drug, it induces “sensations of suffocation and drowning.”

The subject experiences feelings of deep horror and terror, “as though he were on the brink of death.

While he is in this condition a therapist scolds him for his misdeeds and tells him to shape up or expect more of the same.

Candidates for Anectine treatment were selected for a range of offenses: “frequent fights, verbal threatening, deviant sexual behavior, stealing, unresponsiveness to the group therapy programs.” Dr. Nugent told the San Francisco Chronicle, “Even the toughest inmates have come to fear and hate the drug. I don’t blame them, I wouldn’t have one treatment myself for the world.”

Declaring he was anxious to continue the experiment, he added, “I’m at a loss as to why everybody’s upset over this.”

.

Anectine is the brand name for Succinylcholine Chloride which is the same drug that ghouls like Dr. Max Fink used on people just before he electro-shocked them.

I put together a clip for you from the movie ‘Trapped‘. It’s a powerful and horrifying dramatization of what this drug does to people. I think Courtney Love did a great acting job in this scene, but I’ll bet the reality of what happens, and what these prisoners went through is even worse than that.

.

“I wouldn’t have one treatment myself for the world.” said Dr. Nugent.

Now that you have some idea of what these prisoners were subjected to, that statement right there is just a perfect indication of how sick these fracks are, and what cowards.

What you probably don’t know is that this technique they are using is just a modernized version of the same ones that were being used in MKULTRA projects and even in Nazi Germany.

Wisdom, Madness and Folly, The Making of a Psychiatrist

R.D. Laing

The idea of ‘death comas’ was also in the air – the death and rebirth archetype, taken literally.

In deep insulin coma the patient comes very close to real physical death and sometimes actually dies.

Some people feel they do die, and they may in fact do so. They certainly look as though they have. Breathing, pulse, heartbeat may be imperceptible for long seconds, maybe minutes.

Might not this dip into death by therapeutic?

The enforced near death experience levied on the ‘insane’ – people that do not conform in some way – is done in order to ‘teach the lesson’ (the lesson of the Jesuits) and be ‘reborn’ in a more conforming frame-of-mind.

For example, in insulin shock, the second stage is administering glucose to bring the patient back to consciousness. Right then, was when doctors in England, Germany, and America (who first used this procedure) would take advantage of the terrified and disoriented patient to ‘counsel’ them. – they called it ‘readjusted‘….

When slowly brought out of the coma with glucose injections, his or her personality would now be temporarily “readjusted” – that’s what they called that disoriented and terrified (and very ill) state.

It was then that these sick, sick men would discuss their view of the problems with the patient, trying to enforce him to “banish his delusions” – with a big, giant or else of another near-death insulin treatment hanging in the balance over the guys head.

They called this good heart-to-heart psychotherapy.

This is part of why I call it the religion of psychiatry – there is no science here, all slavemaster Catholic Inquisition, is what it is.

The religion of psychiatry was never about helping anyone. They only cared about torturing them – taking them near death to see if they could get a ‘reborn’ effect – the blank slate of a baby.

Dr. Mayer-Gross – another ghoul-on-the-loose from Nazi Germany – was obsessed with this technique. The only difference being that he preferred to give less insulin and induce epilepsy by giving electric shocks in the middle of the coma.

Torturing people beyond all limits, beyond all tolerance, so he too, could then play the part of the savior! of sick souls.

helping hand giving to drowning man in sea.

He was also the mentor of British pychiatrist William Sargant, who later had his own literal dungeon of prisoners – women – to try out his own sick version of Death Therapy on.

When the shit-hit-the-fan of exposes’ of the joint British-American intelligence MKULTRA project experiments, like this one, Sargant destroyed his records of what he had been doing in Ward 5 of the Royal Waterloo hospital. Sargant ran what he called his ‘sleep room’ until late 1973.

Sargant specifically ‘cherry-picked’ young women who were alienated from their families and would be unable to challenge his authority because there was no one to stand up and fight for these poor women. This was just how how Sargant liked things.

Despite the fact that he destroyed his records, a patient named Elizabeth had kept a copy of her referral letter from January 1973, stamped with the ominous words: ‘Admit to Ward 5.’ Notes reveal she was given a ‘course of narcosis’.

She was admitted to the Royal Waterloo in spring 1973 when she was just 22 and engaged to be married.

‘I can remember the sound of the ECT machine being wheeled down the corridor and it being switched on and off in other rooms,’ she says.

‘It was so frightening. First of all, they injected you and you had an awful feeling of falling backwards into yourself. After ECT, you didn’t know who you were.’

paralyzed narcosis.

Up to 500 women were subjected to this treatment. What did he do to them?

Heavily drugged and subjected to horrendous levels of electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) and even lobotomies, the unluckiest were taken to the ‘Narcosis Room’, where they were put to sleep for weeks at a time.

…he conducted a bizarre experiment to ‘repattern’ their brains and cure them of depression.

It got so bad, so over-the-top as not being anything even vaguely about ‘helping’ anyone, that even the nurses working under Sargant sensed that the doctors were up to something seriously evil and wrong.

Almost acting like a god – …the sort of thing you’d expect in Hitler’s time.

You can also see all the clear parallels with the former generations of psychiatrists that I quoted you earlier – no matter what century it is, do you see they never change their basic tortuous methods?

Never change trying to turn people into their own personal doll-slaves?

It’s really sick.

* * *

Now we’re ready for the really scary part, the fact that whole religions and front groups were created to use these exact same techniques on people that were not mental patients, and were not prisoners.

So let’s get to it.

Taking these things alone from Allen Dulles brainwashing speech –

The Goal – Repentance and Self-Condemnation, blank slate to then write upon

  • deprived of the ability to state their own thoughts
  • physical and spiritual barrier…isolated…from the outside world.
  • around three months — to properly indoctrinate the intended victims.
  • endless interrogation by teams of brutal interrogators while the victim is being deprived of sleep

The last one was verified by Wolff’s MKULTRA sensory deprivation experiments…Now we add the proposals outlined in Dr. Schein’s paper in 1962 –

The Goal –

  • Repentance and Self-Condemnation, blank slate – Dulles
  • weaken, undermine, or remove the supports to the old patterns of behavior and the old attitudes – Schein

The Methods –

  • deprived of the ability to state their own thoughts
  • disorganize the group which supports those standards  – Schein
    • Social dis-organisation and the creation of mutual mistrust by –
      • spying on the men and reporting back private material – Schein
      • tricking men into written statements (that are then shown to others) – Schein
  • physical and spiritual barrier…isolated…from the outside world.
    • removing the individual physically and preventing any communication with those whom he cares about, or by proving to him that those whom he respects are not worthy of it and, indeed, should be actively mistrusted. – Schein
    • undermining ties to home by the systematic withholding of mail. – Schein
    • undermine his other emotional supports, then put him into a new and ambiguous situation for which the standards are unclear
  • around three months — to properly indoctrinate the intended victims.
  • endless interrogation by teams of brutal interrogators while the victim is being deprived of sleep
    • after all the above – then put pressure on him. – Schein

.

Dr. Martin Groder, prison psychiatrist, later applied the proposals outlined in Dr. Schein’s paper in the late 1960’s early 1970’s – adding him in, we get -**

  • deprived of the ability to state their own thoughts – Dulles
  • disorganize the group which supports those standards  – Schein
    • Social dis-organisation and the creation of mutual mistrust by –
      • spying on the men and reporting back private material – Schein
      • tricking men into written statements (that are then shown to others) – Schein
  • physical and spiritual barrier…isolated…from the outside world – Dulles

    • undermining ties to home by the systematic withholding of mail. – Schein
    • undermine his other emotional supports, then put him into a new and ambiguous situation for which the standards are unclear – Schein
      • sever the inmate’s ties with his family by transferring him to some remote prison where they will be unable to visit him. – Groder
      • after that, put in isolation – Groder
      • deprive of mail and other privileges – Groder
  • around three months — to properly indoctrinate the intended victims. – Dulles
  • endless interrogation by teams of brutal interrogators while the victim is being deprived of sleep – Dulles
    • after all the above – then put pressure on him. – Schein
      • If he succumbs, he will be moved to new living quarters where he will be surrounded by members of Dr. Groder’s “Prisoner thought-reform team,” and subjected to intense group pressure.
      • He is studied – his emotional behavioral, and psychics characteristics are studied by the staff and demiprofessional prisoners to detect vulnerable points of entry to stage attack-sessions around. – Groder
      • with increasing intensity, he is:
        • shouted at,
        • his fears played on,
        • his sensitivities ridiculed,
        • concentrated efforts made to make him feel guilty for real or imagined characteristics or conduct…
        • heighten his suggestibility
        • weaken his character structure
        • emotional responses and thought-flow brought under group and staff control as totally as possible.
        • driven into him that society, in the guise of its authorities, is looking out for his best interests and will help him if he will only permit it to do so.
        • Help him be ‘reborn’ as a highly probable ‘winner in the game of life.’

Once he gives in to all that:

  • moved into a plush living area equipped with stereo; tape recorders, typewriters, books.
  • ready to indoctrinate newcomers into the mysteries of the group
  • he is graded and evaluated on his demonstrated capacity to go for the vulnerable points of any victim put before him.
  • taught to police not only themselves but others, to inform on one another in acceptable fashion

Well, that’s quite a list!

Let’s start with Synanon then, one of the earliest of the experimental front groups/religious conversions where all these same deliberate brainwashing techniques show up, interspersed with Scientology parallels both with Synanon and with the general brainwashing program.

Right at exactly this same time period as Groder, two men named T. Sarbin and N. Adler had written an interesting article published in 1970 in Psychoanalytic Review. Titled: Self-reconstitution processes: a preliminary report it cited Synanon as doing many of the following in their ‘conversion processes’ – you’ll note a couple of scientology’s training routines (TR’s for short) meet the criteria.

  • fear
  • breakdown
  • needs
  • isolation
  • rituals
  • dancing
  • fasting
  • drug trips
  • staring – Scientology’s TR-0
  • closing the eyes – Scientology’s OT-TR-0 (done with eyes shut)
  • meditation
  • singing
  • dancing
  • hyperventilation
  • prayer

Sarbin and Adler wrote that such ritual behavior prepares the person for the stripping of his past status. The conversion, through symbolic death and rebirth, creates new concepts and sources of information from which a person will make a decision regarding action.

The first step, said Sarbin-Adler, is an organized and planned physical and/or psychological assault (symbolic death) on the individual creating confusion about self and beliefs.

The next step is a ritualized surrendering ceremony.

After reaching rock bottom one renounces their prior self and avoids the humiliation and degradation through rebirth into group acceptance.

That’s about a perfect example of exactly what Dulles, Schein and Groder were doing, wouldn’t you say?

Note: This is also Scientology’s finding the guy’s ruin drill on the light side, but on the darker side this is definitely what goes on in it’s similar harsh re-education process called the RPF or Rehabilitation Project Force where they have something called the “Truth Rundown”. You can watch a video about it here.

Here’s an example of an RPF “graduation” certificate in scientology –

rpf graduation certificate.

Please do not forget that the real root of all this nasty treatment is very, very Catholic, and like I showed you earlier, having people be at rock bottom is a fricking way of life.

Literally and figuratively.

– – –

.

Now let’s examine some real-life parallels directly from within Synanon itself.

1st Ref – The Connection Between Synanon and Scientology – Part 7: When God Plots

the_game_quote_dederich_synanon

Well, that lines up perfectly with these –

The Goal –

  • Repentance and Self-Condemnation, blank slate – Dulles
  • weaken, undermine, or remove the supports to the old patterns of behavior and the old attitudes – Schein

Wouldn’t you say?

There is a saying in the Catholic Church, that goes something like this:

“When a god plans harm against a man, he first damages the mind of the man he is plotting against.”

.

This quote, it’s idea, first appeared under slavemaster Pope Nicholas V, the man responsible for approving wholesale slavery and for instituting burning of women as witches. He is also responsible for spawning the biggest propaganda the world had ever seen – the Bible.

That’s how far back this idiocy goes.

When Charles Dederich said:

“You’re working on the ordinary mind, assaulting it, attacking it, rocking it.”

He revealed that with “the Game” he was very much in lockstep with the CIA’s experiments on “freestanding populations”.

By the time of the changes to Scientology were underway, the CIA’s ORD (as well as MKSEARCH) had begun shifting the focus of testing all that had been learned during the previous 11 years into a whole new arena.

.

The general public.

.

Lecture by Dr. Alan Scheflin, Professor of Law, Santa Clara University and author of the book “The Mind Manipulators” published November 30, 2008

But it was in the 1960′s that the idea of using these techniques on essentially freestanding populations was experimented with and the cults provided the laboratory setting for social influence processes where the people are not taken into complete physical custody.

.

Lab settings like…Scientology, Synanon, SEED, for example.

.

The focus of propaganda on freestanding populations now, was not to modify ideas, but to provoke action. It was not to change adherence to a doctrine, but to make the individual cling irrationally to a process of action. It was not to lead to a choice, but to loosen the reflexes. It was not to transform an opinion, but to arouse an active and mythical belief.

– Propaganda: the Formation of Men’s Attitudes by Jacques Ellul, 1965. You can read it here.

.

Let’s line up those points –

  • to provoke action
  • to make the individual cling irrationally to a process of action.
  • to loosen the reflexes
  • to arouse an active and mythical belief.

Clearly this is exactly what Dederich and Ron Hubbard were doing.

.

Now let’s look at this again – Charles Dederich:

“You’re working on the ordinary mind, assaulting it, attacking it, rocking it.”

When he said “ordinary mind” he was talking about you. Or, as Fredric Myers put it, the supraliminal self.

What the slavemasters were trying to do is to create an alignment between the “ordinary” mind and the “subconscious” mind – the two individual beings. BOTH willingly doing what they want.

Talking about “assaulting” the ordinary mind is simply going about it the other way around. Instead of trying to order you by ordering the subconscious to order you, they are trying to have you order the “subconscious”. Which, by the way isn’t subconscious. That other being is just as conscious as you are and reasons just as well as you do.

THAT was the newer version of the same old Torture Cure.

So – what’s Synanon’s “Game” and it’s later version The Trip ?

Only a perfect demonstration of this point especially:

        • Help him be ‘reborn’ as a highly probable ‘winner in the game of life.’

.

What Synanon called The Game was the big attraction – the big thing that the media would be playing up for them.

Dederich is quoted as stating

The Synanon Game began with an idea I had of getting people together in a room to pursue a conversation with a “line of no line.” I began to yell and curse and accuse and ridicule: I talked to everyone in the room as if he had a tail. Boy I felt great, and everyone else loved it too. The next week they all came back. That was the birth of the Synanon Game, which basically hasn’t changed at all since 1958. Before the days of Synanon nobody had ever told addicts to stop using drugs. People tried to love them out of it, reason them out of it, and motivate them out of it. We said to them: “Hey, KNOCK THAT OFF! If you shoot dope here we’ll throw your ass out.

Synanon came into existence because our society is composed of mama’s boys and daddy’s little girls who have been innundated by attempts to produce nothing but agreeable sensations in them. Character disorders, quite simply, are people who had too strong a dose of “mother love and were never properly housebroken by fathers. The childish idea that money can accomplish something without people is rampant in our society.

At the top, its always the manipulation of people — the people business — that makes for success or failure. I am proposing a counter-philosophy, a rather old-fashioned, commonsense approach to things: ‘Good boys and good girls get good things — bad boys and bad girls get bad things.’ This idea is the very basis of Synanon. We are a father principle phenomenon which rewards good behavior and punishes bad behavior.”

.

All that misogyny and blaming of mother as the source of any character disorder (oy!) is a guaranteed indicator that this guy had some really strong Catholic influence in his life – which as it turns out, he did – a Jesuit priest no less.

As to what kinds of things went on in “the game” itself, I’ve already covered how it was taken from Ron Hubbard’s TR’s, and how it was later called a form of “attack therapy’, but let’s do sort of a condensed version here.

Synanon also began operating game clubs so non-addicts outside it could play the famous game. Three clubs were opened in California, one in Detroit, and one in New York City. By 1968, some 3,400 outsiders were playing the Synanon game.

This 1965 movie clip gives a dramatized example of the game.

A Grand Jury in Marin County later referred to the game (or games) as “-no-holds-barred group encounter sessions-have long been the organization’s primary way of shaping members’ behavior.”.

Synanon House founder Charles E. Dederich talking to addict applicant & his mother life 1968Synanon House founder Charles E. Dederich talking to addict applicant & his mother – Life magazine 1968

.

Richard Ofshe’s descriptions of the game from his infiltration of the group are condensed as follows (taken from the book The Light on Synanon)

  • Synanon leaders deliberately manipulated the membership through the game to do whatever it was they wanted them to do, not that it was best for the person.
  • Lying was considered an acceptable part  of the Synanon game.
  • No one could leave their chair when in a game – very much like scientology’s TR’s when they are “in progress”.

In the early days, “Sex was all over the place,” Dederich later told researcher Daniel Casriel. “In a way I felt I was merchandising.I had to allow them to have something quickly that they could understand and stay with. I tried to allow them to have fun in any manner as long as they didn’t get drunk, shoot dope, or hurt anybody.”

– The Light on Synanon

The big encounter sessions, the famous ones, happened on Friday Nights,  hundreds of visitors took part in Synanon game clubs, in Urban areas, but in smaller, more “monks in an abbey” settings like West Marin, Richard was the only outsider.

  • The Game was also used to enforce business deals and business policy.
  • Games in Synanon were usually “played” by fifteen or so members sitting in a circle. They were aggressive.
  • One player pointed out the defects or mistakes of another, and unless the accused could quickly talk his way out of the indictment, he faced a snarling pack of game players denouncing him.
  • an inexperienced game player often found himself confessing to fictitious misdeeds to stop the attack.
  • Wrongdoing exposed in a game could result in the culprit’s being remoted to less pleasant work, being reassigned to less comfortable housing, or being shunned by other members

Ofshe described how this technique felt to him –

It is difficult to make you understand how emotionally devastating that can be. It’s a tidal wave of hatred. The first time it hits you, it absolutely destroys you.

.

the_game_synanon_1961.

There was a saying within Synanon:

“The game remembers.”

.

  • Misdeeds a person might admit in one game could be brought up in future games-even years later-to fuel an attack against him.
  • Other game players could humiliate a target by demanding he recount his “dirty, rotten story.” This became his “jacket,” which would stay with him until he left the foundation.
  • Years later, other game players would browbeat him with the incident when they wanted to claim some recent misstep was “part of a long pattern of fuck-ups.”
  • Games could be also used to show support for members who were doing what Synanon wanted them to do.

Synanon leader Charles 'Chuck' Dederich perpetual stew

Games were used to create certain behaviors.

  • Games were also a forum to discuss personal problems
  • Games and their attacks were viewed as “sportive” by some.
  • Members become skilled at verbal gymnastics, becoming “aggressively articulate”.

drug addict synanon 1961

That’s perfect for this point by Groder –

  • he is graded and evaluated on his demonstrated capacity to go for the vulnerable points of any victim put before him.

“After a while,” Richard replied, “members get used to it. Being called an ‘asshole’ or a ‘cocksucker’ gets to be as everyday an experience as having someone say, ‘How are you?’

.

The game was supposedly a successful method to make addicts give up the behavior that originally got them into trouble, but only as long they were being routinely subjected to it.

As you can see though, the game was actually used for a whole lot more than just “curing addicts”. For one thing, people were literally being conditioned to be arrogant, nasty, and aggressive – which is exactly how outsiders viewed them.

Synanon also had elders – “Wizards” –  to direct and control the addicts and the “games”. Betty Dedrich’s brother Wilbur Beckham was one of them.

Wilbur Beckham was Betty Dederich's brother and one of Synanon's Elders

Is that about a perfect parallel of these brainwashing techniques, or what?

.

Yee howdy.

Let’s not forget some of the darker side of this ‘game’ (as if there weren’t enough already).

The darker side –

Parents were often separated from their children while going through this Synanon experience, as both a punishment for their “bad behavior” (being addicts) and a kind of carrot to hold over their head which Dederich would use to enforce them to do whatever he wanted them to.

.

That’s a perfect example of the whole ‘isolation’ aspect techniques of brainwashing – wouldn’t you say?

Let’s compare some later aspects now.

By the late 1960’s, everyone (the crazy psychiatrists and MKULTRA doctors especially) are sitting there after all those failures of trying to physically force a synergy, or command over ‘the subliminal mind”, and now the new plan was to get YOU to do it, and to experiment with those ideas they wanted a different ‘class’ of people – a more expanded one.

In Synanon, as part of this change to trying to recruit non-addict Game club members, Dedrich created what he called –

The Trip

.

And Ron Hubbard created –

The Wall of FIRE

the ‘OT’ levels of scientology

and the paramilitary organization to ‘deliver’ them

The Sea Org

.

Look at these two things together.

  • Dederich –  had begun his own experimenting with emotional and environment manipulations trying to recreate the (LSD) purgation for others.
  • scientology – per a Guardian’s Office spokesperson, was referred to as a drugless psychedelic (LSD) a root to the achievement of some of these awarenesses on a natural basis…

You can also see the whole “create the myth” aspect that we documented earlier was of CIA interest, in play here. The total lock-step parallels of these two supposedly ‘different’ groups is incredibly clear.

What Dederich came up with for his “LSD” recreation, he nicknamed The Trip which was later considered to be a forerunner of scientologist Werner Erhard’s EST. I think that you can see there is a more interesting (and true) reason why EST was a conglomeration of both scientology and synanon – he used group psychotherapy, coercive persuasion, mysticism and old fashioned spiritual revival.

And you can now easily see how all three were actually coming out of Dulles/MKULTRA brainwashing experiments.

Just like Ron Hubbard and his you have been chosen personal ‘invitations’ to do his OT Levels – the Trip was first offered as an ‘honor’ for special people.

The Trip was a program of individual emotional breakdowns followed by a mass group euphoria all designed to re-educate individuals into the Synanon II philosophy and lifestyle.

Dederich called it an “insight producing” experience.

“At the end of this rainbow, there will be a pot of gold. Through dissipation, or long hours of activity without very much sleep, we hope to bring about in you a conscious state of inebriation… we want to get you loaded without acid.

“You will learn more about yourself, your fellow man, the world, the nature of reality in one weekend than you would in four years. “Let your ego go…let things happen to you. It’s a feeling of closeness to each other we are after, the death of the ego. A reference point for the rest of your life. You may change your value system, notions about life and viewpoints about people. It will produce a new breed of human beings with greatly expanded potentials. If you do your best, you can’t fail.” (Tony Lang, Synanon, Morantz archives on Synanon).

In Scientology, Hubbard called this Homo Novis and a magazine called Advance! began promoting stories of ‘super-powers’ gained as a result of his OT levels supposedly.

Advance! magazines often depicted angels leading ‘the fallen’ out of hell across Hubbard’s bridge to the light.

advance 6 cover.

Dederich would incorporate the same ideas in Synanon.

synanon the trip

The following descriptions are from Paul Morantz’s website primarily.

At 7 p.m. on Fridays the chosen Trippers, around 50 in number, of all ages, were met in the Del Mar lobby by people dressed in long white robes and yellow silk scarves. A Shepherd led them through candle-lit and incense-burning corridors to a locker room filled with rows of Army cots with name cards. Each person stripped and put on white robes. Watches were taken as time was no longer important. Women removed all makeup and jewelry, a symbolic stripping of past selves.

The Guides, all experienced game players, turned each group from enthusiasm to a depression and defeat, wallowing in its collective shame. Sitting in comfortable green armchairs, they made the dope fiends tell their tales of drugs, rape, crime and beatings. The squares were pushed to confess their prior loneliness and despair. The games turned on one than another. Disoriented by lack of sleep, each was moved to the point of intense disillusionment. Aides, who did their homework, provided ammunition to the Conductors on each Tripper. Everyone was to cop-out (confess to past sins).

The result was implantation of a common bond and sense of ideals, all identified with Synanon. Each Tripper was to write a paper on some feeling or admission. A big shot would advise the Trippers they were not really chosen as an honor, but each was really selected because each was a resister, thinking he or she knew better the direction Synanon should go, part of the “dummies that hold Synanon back.

You can see how both Hubbard and Dederich of them are clearly revolving around the ‘reborn a winner” concept that Golder, Schein and Dulles were long after obtaining.

But also note why they chose these people, same as Golder!

He chose “agitators, suspected militants, writ-writers, and other troublemakers.”

Perhaps being invited onto Hubbard’s OT Levels wasn’t such a “reward” after all.

Charles Dederich was even more blunt about his intentions to brainwash the “resisters” –

Maybe, one day we will just put dingbats like you against the wall and wash them off and bring them back into the human race.

Dederich believed these ‘peak’ experiences released and canceled all defenses “allowing information to seep into deep levels of consciousness.” Some ‘Dissipations’ were run as long as 72 hours but usually it was a 48-hour weekend. You can read much more about all the kooky things they did to people during one of these “trips” in the ref I listed above, which was: 1st Ref – The Connection Between Synanon and Scientology – Part 7: When God Plots

But, do you know see more clearly what I meant when I said they hadn’t entirely given up on that ‘ordering the unconscious’ idea? Here we have Dederich testing to see if they can get to that other person they call the ‘subconscious’ – and Ron Hubbard calls ‘the reactive mind’ – through this group weirdness he has going.

Both Dederich and Hubbard were also working off the whole conditioned reflex/collective myth propaganda technique – part of, as Wolff called it, “Psychological Warfare” (which was combined with duress of some kind, usually lack of sleep).

The two great routes that this sub-propaganda takes are the conditioned reflex and the myth.

  • Propaganda tries first of all to create conditioned reflexes in the individual by training him so that certain words, signs, or symbols, even certain persons or facts, provoke unfailing reactions.
  • On the other hand, the propagandist tries to create myths by which man will live, which respond to his sense of the sacred.

By “myth” we mean an all-encompassing, activating image a sort of vision of desirable objectives … Such an image pushes man to action precisely because it includes all that he feels is good, just, and true.

Only when conditioned reflexes have been created in a man and he lives in a collective myth can he be readily mobilized.

– Propaganda: the Formation of Men’s Attitudes by Jacques Ellul. You can read it here.

You can read more specifics about how both Dedrich and Hubbard used similar Myths as part of their brainwashing techniques, in that same ref – The Connection Between Synanon and Scientology – Part 7: When God Plots however, I would like to add here a pretty devastating description of “the Game” as done in this “trip” scenario.

The game took on each unbroken’s dirty rotten story with great brutality. Aides returned with smut obtained from the un-broken’s spouses to use. The broken joined the attack. Some Trippers began to hallucinate, Dederich having achieved his LSD replicated altered state of consciousness.

Fighting to stay awake, defenses wiped away, the unbroken broke and asked for forgiveness. Some rolled up on the floor in fetal positions. Some laughed, others howled and sobbed. Some cried for their mothers. When they asked for friends they were hugged in mass. All thought the experience was beautiful. (Tony Lang, Synanon, Morantz archives on Synanon). Dederich would elsewhere declare that if you kept people up long enough you can make them believe anything (Deposition of Charles Dederich, Morantz vs Synanon, Morantz archives on Synanon.)

.

Look at that in light of this  – paying close attention to the Groder techniques:

Pretty freaky eh?

Also, remember that when the person reached this broken “state” (that Dederich is after producing)  Hinkle and Wolff would present themselves as friend and saviour – as did Sargant, as did Mayer-Gross with comas and electric shock. Dederich did the same thing with a whole ouija board ‘Moses’ routine. Ron Hubbard presented himself as the Messiah/Maitteya!

In both Synanon and Scientology, using these brainwashing techniques that the slavemasters so wanted to work to make all their problems go away – teachers, lawyers, doctors, police, politicians, all got hooked, many forming an allegiance previously not matched in their lives to the group and trainers that trained them.

Synanon did not wait for recruits to make up their own minds about joining. Instead, they were manipulated to join Synanon in stages. At each stage, a game player who balked was given a choice: he could demonstrate his “commitment” to Synanon or he could “not come back.”

There’s that isolation/anathema technique going into play.

To recruits with children, Synanon offered a progressive school run by recently recruited progressive teachers – however, this was a bit of a come-on because babies were taken from the parents and raised in the “Hatchery.Mothers who wanted to see their kids too much were called “head suckers.”

Same thing in scientology, kids were separated from their parents and raised in the ‘nursery’ or even in completely different “school locations”. Husbands and wives were even separated from each other, sometimes never to see each other for months or even years.

More obvious applications of the ‘isolation’ step of brainwashing.

Cathy [Mitchell] demanded to know why anyone would stay in Synanon, given the way members were sometimes treated.

“Most of the time,” Richard [Ofshe] answered, “life in Synanon is very pleasant.” If someone joined Synanon as a “square” (without drug or criminal problems) or if one was a rehabilitated “dope fiend,” he didn’t have to do the menial work that people must do on the outside, Richard added. “You walk into the dining room, and your food is waiting for you. There are people to do the laundry. You don’t have to mess with your kids; Synanon takes care of them for you. And since the Synanon school was touted as being progressive, you could even rationalize that your kids were better off.” The menial work, he noted, was done by newcomers who came in as “dope fiends” or “character disorders.” And these people were continually promised better jobs as soon as they demonstrated responsibility. They were usually assigned jobs within their first forty-eight hours in Synanon, and kitchen work was a typical job.

The Light on Synanon by Dave Mitchell, Cathy Mitchell and Richard Ofshe, Chapter 9 – The Education of Dave and Cathy.  The Light was a newspaper out of Point Reyes, Marin County, California

That’s a perfect example of the progressive ‘reward’ system points – where the prisoners/brainwashees are first given crap surroundings and jobs and if they “do right” they are moved up.

Scientology had the same thing – sea org members started out in the “EPF” (Estates Project Force) where they did menial work until they had earned a “post” assignment and then were “served’ by others.

Plus –

  • “Squares” were told their work was a contribution to the common good
  • Scientologists (sea org members) were told their work was the greatest good for the greatest number.

They started a boot camp for kids, that looked strangely similar to the garb that Hubbard had some of his Sea Org members wearing – particularly the ‘low class’ swabby types.

synanon boot camp 1970s for kidsBoot camp at the Maghetti Ranch

.

Scientology had it’s “Cadet Organization” for the now mostly abandoned children of Scientology.

Lastly, I’d like to give you some more current examples of that scientology is still lock-stepping away in this brainwashing program started so many years ago.

See these?

  • deprived of the ability to state their own thoughts – Dulles
  • disorganize the group which supports those standards  – Schein
    • Social dis-organisation and the creation of mutual mistrust by –
      • spying on the men and reporting back private material – Schein
      • tricking men into written statements (that are then shown to others) – Schein

Particularly that last one, happened to Senior official and right-hand man of the head of Scientology (David Miscavige) – I am referring to Mark Rathbun.

Mark Rathbun Deposition of December 22, 2014

.

Other techniques were used since he stopped being Miscavige’s right-hand man, particularly the brutal interrogation one:

In modern times, you can see executives of the Church of Scientology behaving exactly this way in this video from October of 2014 –

You can also see the Catholic Anathema points being pushed as well.

  • embarrassing and pathetic. Disgustingyou look terrible.
  • such a loser.
  • …You’ve had zero effect, none. And nobody gives a fuck about you.
  • You’re nothing.
  • Nobody cares. Nobody’s interested. You’ve done nothing. No one gives a crap.

Also notice all the ‘blank slate’ or “need to be reborn’ type attacks as well –

  • Go live a life. Why don’t you get a life, man. Just get a life.
  • …Why don’t you just stop committing suppressive acts and live a real life.
  • …Why don’t you just end it and start living a decent life and do something to help mankind.

These are real examples of the sort of harassing statements that people in scientology, people in Synanon, people in SEED/Straight and in prison “therapy” sessions get subjected to as well, as part of the “conversion” process.

I have had all of them used on me for years now, including by my son due to the influence of supporting operatives.

Here’s a 3 year run of examples –

Examples from the summer of 2014, blog comment left using my son’s email account.

  • …It’s really sad what you’ve become
  • …it just makes me sick seeing how you think
  • …you’re egotistical narcissistic self
  • you really have minimal impact and are not very important at all.

Another example –

  • …you are wasting your life away on a mountain writing random insane dribble on a blog that anyone with half a brain
    can find innumerable holes in.
  • you produce nothing of value, you spread hate fear and manipulation.
  • you’re just going to die and all the pain you went through will be meaningless.
  • …best wishes to you on your recovery or your inevitable confrontation with …death.

This example is from a private facebook message to my daughter  – his sister – trying to turn her against me (about a year and a half ago) –

  • She [mom] is nothing to me.
  • If she died I would not care at all and have felt nothing but relief from being away from her all these years.

This example is another private facebook message from my son’s facebook account to my daughter about me, around 3 years ago –

  • …I talked to a bum on the street who was crazy paranoid and he sounded exactly like her.
  • …it’s all just so crazy and unbelievable.
  • Yeah, I think she is crazy… Nobody down here cares about her at all. They …want nothing to do with her.
  • making themselves an issue when they really aren’t at all.

nobody gives a fuck about you - airport ambush.

Pretty disgusting, isn’t it?

Next – Narconon.

Ref – The Connection Between Synanon and Scientology – Part 6: Thou Art Punished

Narconon was a drug rehab and education program started by an Arizona prisoner named Bill Benitez after other programs he tried had failed. It took 9 months to get the program approved for use in the Arizona State Penitentiary and was expanded to other prisons such as Marion, Illinois in 1969. These were obviously both being funded under the new LEAA, and maybe even sideways through MKSEARCH – I’ll have to check into that.

But, do notice that Marion is exactly where Groder was doing his brainwashing experiments, at that same time!

wiley-uh-oh

When Bill was released in 1967, he started Narconon Los Angeles – calling it Fresh Start – and expanding from there to such far-flung locales as Hawaii.

When it was officially incorporated in 1970? It was done so with two senior Guardian’s Office personnel – Henning Heldt and Arthur “Arte” Maren. Their involvement is highly significant, due to their involvement in many black operations that scientology was running – intelligence-wise. Even today, Narconon and the Church of Scientology attempt to erase that little bit of history, and refer to Narconon being incorporated “by William Benitez on May 20, 1970.”  – as if it was only him.

Paul Morantz, the lawyer who fought Synanon and won, tells us that one study on encounter groups in 1971 found the Synanon methods of attack therapy was the most likely to create psychological injury, and the experiment led to mental breakdowns and one suicide.

The Attack Therapy he is referring to is called “the game” in Synanon, and TR’s (Training Routines) in scientology, particularly TR0-Bullbaited. Hubbard introduced “bullbaiting” at a congress in June of 1957, Dederich came up with the “game” the following year. This brief video demonstrates how similar the techniques were.

.

.

The following month after Hubbard developed bullbaiting, he demonstrated the first 4 CCH’s (LRH Tape 7 July 1957 CCHs Steps 1-4 Demonstration – developed April ’57) – they were control tools to teach the acolyte that “it’s ok to be controlled.”

In other words, prepared to serve.

…propaganda must not concern itself with what is best in man — the highest goals humanity sets for itself, its noblest and most precious feelings. Propaganda does not aim to elevate man, but to make him serve.

– Propaganda: the Formation of Men’s Attitudes by Jacques Ellul. You can read it here.

.

Both TRs and CCH’s were immediately incorporated in Narconon’s program by Benitez with Ron Hubbard’s guidance.

Here’s a couple of current scientology sources showing that this is still the case –

  • This video shows that the Narconon Program utilizes these very TRs & Objectives  – Objectives is another term used to describe the CCH’s.
  • Church of Scientology’s official website as viewed October 20, 2015

Later on in 1971, Hubbard added a kind of TR’s that are literally almost exactly the same as Synanon’s group “game” action – called the Admin TR’s. One of the things done in these TR’s was groups of people bullbaiting one person, supposedly in order to teach them how to “lead”.

References –

In reverse-speech, it actually made the person even more “hardened” and committed of a follower. Leading in a mind-controlled environmental experiment isn’t leading, it’s following.

Some of these were also incorporated into Narconon’s program after they came out.

The similarities between Synanon and Narconon are truly incredible, you’d have to be blind, deaf and dumb to not notice something is very wrong about that.

Synanon: The GAME was the most important method of treatment at Synanon. When it came to getting addicts clean, the program rejected any form of pharmaceuticals or tapering of drugs.

Scientology-Narconon: Life can best be understood by likening it to a ‘detached eye’ like GAME. – L. Ron Hubbard. No pharmaceuticals or tapering of drugs are permitted at Narconon.

Synanon: The confrontational approach was a way to hash out everything that bothered you about others in your group. It was supposed to help you learn about yourself as well. While playing the Game, your frustrations didn’t even need to be true. Lying was just one of many strategies in The Game, which could last anywhere from one to 48 hours.”

Narconon: “Patients used this same confront approach, teasing and yelling at each other in ‘Bull-Baiting’ Scientology Training Routines (TRs) – yelling at ashtrays to stand up on their own, and even lying.”

David Love, Cult of Narconon and Synanon drug rehab atrocities, September 7, 2014

.

As if that wasn’t enough parallels with the brainwashing program points – check this out:

In this video of Benitez, I have cued it to where he says something particular – he starts talking about a Game idea being an important facet of the Narconon experience. He says: “To begin with Life is nothing but a game.” – a particularly false Hubbardism.

.

.

Ron Hubbard said: “Life is a game” whereas Benitez added “nothing but” in there – which happens to be almost exactly Charles Dederich and Synanon’s take or attitude about things.

BUT – all of them are right on Groder’s brainwashing point coming under –

        • Help him be ‘reborn’ as a highly probable ‘winner in the game of life.’

The being reborn in ‘the game of life”.

Here’s a couple of publications from Scientology, one from 1968, the other from 1982, showing this exact same ‘trick’ still in use to behavior modify scientologists.

Last, but not least in the comparison between psychiatry’s methods of brainwashing and Scientology’s, there’s the ultimate in isolation examples.

Ref – Where Scientologys Introspection Rundown Came from: The Marriange of Catholicism and Psychiatry

Wisdom, Madness and Folly, The Making of a Psychiatrist – R.D. Laing

wisdom_madness_and_folly

Through the year I was in this Army psychiatric unit, the staff in the psychotic wing had strict orders not to talk to the patients or to encourage the patients to talk to them, or to each other, or to themselves, or at all.

No patient was expected to speak to a member of staff unless spoken to.

Talking between patients was observed, reported and broken up.

Pairing off was prevented.

Friendship was not forbidden because psychotics are incapable of it. But they might form a folie a deux: difficult to destroy clinically, but still clinically interesting if the worst came to the worst.

Staff were given strict instructions:

You must not let a schizophrenic talk to you. It aggravates the psychotic process. …It inflames the brain and fans the psychosis. As in bone fractures, so with fractured minds: immobilization is the answer. No communication is better than any for the period of treatment.

.

Scientology’s Introspection Rundown, found at Wikileaks (first published 23 January 1974)

STEPS OF THE RD

(Steps 0 and 00 are for a person in a psychotic break, not a normal person.)

0. On a person in a psychotic break isolate the person wholly with all attendants completely muzzled (no speech).

.

The very first step is the step that will both punish and exacerbate the person’s negative sense of self, driving them into hell.

ignoring

Deprived of even the most basic of human rights, the right to speak and interact with others, the right to be heard, is a recipe for complete destruction of the persons former personality.

It’s as if the person is as dead, as if they aren’t even there. That’s how they are treated until they conform with who their masters say they are.

Doesn’t get much worse than that, and unfortunately, there would be other groups who would do something pretty similar to this, like SEED and Straight.

– – –

.

On that note, now let’s compare SEED, also a ‘drug-rehab’ program (later resurrected by the same people as Straight, Inc.) to these brainwashing techniques.

From page 190 of the PDF of this:

Individual Rights and the Federal Role in Behavior Modification; A Study Prepared by the Staff of the Subcommittee on Constitutional Rights of the Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, Ninety-Third Congress, Second Session; published November 1974; 655 pages. – found at Black Vault’s MKULTRA archives.

During the first three days, the client is placed in the first row. During this period he will not be permitted to talk or relate his feelings and his experiences.

…during this first week (day 5) to the second week, any deep rooted emotional problems that should become evident, the services of the psychiatrist are utilized.

Sheesh! That’s also about picture-perfect for the isolation steps.

physical and spiritual barrier…isolated…from the outside world – Dulles

  • removing the individual physically and preventing any communication with those whom he cares about, or by proving to him that those whom he respects are not worthy of it and, indeed, should be actively mistrusted. – Schein
  • undermining ties to home by the systematic withholding of mail. – Schein
  • undermine his other emotional supports, then put him into a new and ambiguous situation for which the standards are unclear – Schein
    • sever the inmate’s ties with his family by transferring him to some remote prison where they will be unable to visit him. – Groder
    • after that, put in isolation – Groder
    • deprive of mail and other privileges – Groder

.

Taken from later documents in the SEED section of the same PDF –

the continuous “rap” sessions at the Seed…the tactic appears designed to eliminate a person’s psychological defense and excuses. ... creates a dependency on the support of the group

…The peer pressure concept utilized by the Seed is very similar to the methods used by Alcoholics Anonymous. …The participant’s defenses are penetrated until he develops a dependency on the group. Favorable response is then rewarded by the group and unfavorable responses are unacceptable. The Committee would classify the Seed as an attitudinal modification program.

… Ordinarily peer pressure is accomplished in smaller groups ranging from 10 to 15 persons. The Seed is unique in applying this technique to 300 to 500 persons at once.

… Since drug abuse is often symptomatic of other disturbances within the adolescent’s life, does peer group pressure constitute an abdication of one’s own responsibility for decision making to an outside group? Consequently, does this hinder the maturation process by not providing any skills for coping with life’s problems in the real world.

…A primary cause of drug abuse….desire to belong and be acceptable to a group.

The premise of the Seed is, therefore, that since peer pressure caused the drug abuse, then that same peer pressure in reverse form should be utilized for correction purposes.

17 percent are not there because of any drug usage but for attitudinal problems.

…some of the apparent positive results of the Seed’s methodology can be compared to the results in “marathon” group and counter group therapies wherein people experience a temporary emotional high and subsequently feel that their life has changed and their problems have been solved by a new insight. It has also been suggested that the lengthened intensity of the confrontation sessions produces a group response similar to that found in revivalistic religious meetings under the guidance of very inspirational and charismatic leaders.

And there’s the whole revival/religious experience thing as well as the brutal interrogation tactics that both Synanon and Scientology do variations of, as well.

Helene Kloth, Guidance Counselor North Miama Beach Senior High School –

I know many returned Seedlings…they seem to be living in a robot-like atmosphere, they won’t speak to anyone outside of their own group.

…I asked for help…I was told that the Seed was not interested in helping us “We are not interested in educators or any of the people out there because they don’t know anything.”

..Seedlings seem to have an informing system on each other and on others that is similar to Nazi Germany. They run in to use the telephone daily, to report against each other to the Seed and it seems that an accused Seedling has no chance to defend himself because if enough persons accuse him of something he is presumed guilty. The Seedlings also make numerous false accusations about drug behavior concerning non-Seedlings.

..I used to think it was the saving program, a year ago…Now, I know that a number of the children are back on drugs…

There’s the whole snitching/informant thing too!

  • disorganize the group which supports those standards  – Schein
    • Social dis-organisation and the creation of mutual mistrust by –
      • spying on the men and reporting back private material – Schein
      • tricking men into written statements (that are then shown to others) – Schein

  • taught to police not only themselves but others, to inform on one another in acceptable fashion – Groder

Which, by the way, scientology also has in spades, including falsely manufacturing things to snitch on, if need be!

See Scientology Policy – Bearing False Witness to Create Conflicts Between People

– – –

The arguments most parents give Seed critics is that “it works.”

Again, exactly the same as both Scientology and Synanon.

Now here’s some really scary (and super nasty) parallels that Seed has with both those two and prison settings – these are from that same PDF of the Senate Hearings.

The practice of “coming down on” youngsters in the program, recalled bitterly by disillusioned former “seedlings,” is described as therapeutic by Susie and loyal graduates. “It’s used in the Seed,” she said. …”In extreme cases where it’s necessary, sometimes it takes an hour, sometimes less than that or more than that or it may never happen to a kid.” – not allowed to have money or identification during the first part of the program, not allowed to call a lawyer!!

Not allowed to say there is anything good about your past, people go to the bathroom with you, watch you all the time – no outside communication whatsoever. 12 hours of “rap” sessions.

Pick on people to break them down.

All the disillusioned “Seedlings” interviewed said the pressure to confess in misbehavior made them say they had done things they had not done, in order to move along more quickly in the program.

During the raps…”guards” stood at the doors-“big guys at every door.” “If anybody gets out of his seat, they verbally tell him to get back and if he doesn’t, they physically make him get back.”

Seedlings who tell their stories in the open meetings (when parents come) are told what to say and what not to say. Anyone who criticized the program or asked to go home would be forced to start over.

Girls are required to hold hands and boys must put their arms around each other when they leave their seats.

In one case, a father recounts how SEED staff insisted he hit his son to “make him stay” – which he did, and said that he would regret it the rest of his life. The boy had run away after being locked in a room with a chain on the door every night by his foster “family” of a SEED member.

Pat said his father began by screaming at him to go back in the group and finally shoved and hit him. The father and son hit each other and Pat remembers blood coming from his father’s lip. He says the Seed staff was standing around smiling and his mother was crying.

He said his father finally just gave up and a staff memeber sent for “eight guys to carry me in in front of a thousand people.” At that point he decided to go in voluntarily. His father went to the men’s room and vomited and cried.

Bobby got out of the Seed because a staff member asked his father to beat him in front of the group, his mother said.

A staff member “wanted my husband to take a belt before the whole group and whip his son,” she recalled. “I said no way. That same day I was already thinking Bobby shouldn’t be there.”

She said she called a lawyer to find out what authority the Seed had to keep her son. When he told her she had the right to take Bobby out, she took him out.

Pat, Carolyn and Bobby all said they were “brainwashed”.

When Pat was asked how people can be “brainwashed to believe things they once ridiculed”?

Know what she said?

She said that it was “sort of like torture.”

“They just keep on and on and on until you finally start believing it,” he said. “They just drill it into your mind. If somebody tells you something and the other kids tell you enough, you start believing it.”

Pat, if you’re out there, this wasn’t sort of like torture, it was torture. Funded by sneaky cut-out U.S. government agencies to try and break you and your family so they could ‘study’ the results to figure out how to better break other non-conformist families apart.

Remember this part?

Yea. Exactly.

Pat’s husband thought that fear is an important tool. “They tell everybody if they don’t make it in the Seed it means death,” – that’s just another sick form of Death Therapy, if you ask me.

.

I could do many, many more examples of just how exactly all these supposedly disrelated groups were all employing brainwashing techniques on us ‘rebels’, I’m sure you can think of some on your own too, but I think this is enough to lay down in stone forever, that these groups were all part of this nasty master plan for the rest of us.

Every.

Single.

One of them.

.

And now that you can no longer not know that, take heart.

To be effective, propaganda must constantly short-circuit all thought and decision.

It must operate on the individual at the level of the unconscious.

He must not know that he is being shaped by outside forces (this is one of the conditions for the success of propaganda), but some central core in him must be reached in order to release the mechanism in the unconscious which will provide the appropriate — and expected — action.

Moreover, the action-reflex obtained by propaganda is only a beginning, a point of departure; it will develop harmoniously only if there is an organization in which (and thanks to which) the proselyte becomes militant.

…. Through organization…he is actually transformed into a religious man…

– Propaganda: the Formation of Men’s Attitudes by Jacques Ellul. You can read it here.

It isn’t going to work on you any more.

The road ahead is now wide open and well-lit.

.

I suppose I should add that it isn’t entirely simply the use of any one of these techniques that makes something bad, or brainwashing. After all, parents isolate their children, and do various other things along those lines – we all have.

I think what takes it into darkness is the element of any one person thinking they have the right (or the power) to rewrite another person’s life, their history, their who-they-are to suit what and who they want them to be.

These people that do such evil things, that’s what they are doing. I think I wouldn’t be too far off to say that every person who does this, the dark path, doesn’t want to know that they will always ultimately fail, and that this, in turn, comes from the lie that they live by of that other people are theirs to control, to own.

I know where that started, do you now?

  1. You put so much work into this, it’s an amazing mountain of research. Very similar to the connections presented in a book called “Institutionalized Persuasion.”

You are one of the few experts who have put all this together, especially the CIA/Synanon/Scientology intersection.

I have some questions related to your work, things I’ve wondered for years.

    1. Have you found any specific reference to the Synanon “Houses” at the Federal Prison in Lexington, KY, while reading through MKULTRA docs? I wonder if or where in MKULTRA they talk about Synanon specifically.

    2. Have you looked into the similarity between the Moonies, Synanon and Scientology? The origins and methods and political connections among the three, seem similar.

    3. Are you familiar with the current prison drug-treatment programs that were modeled after Straight? http://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2008-05-23/627435/

    4. Can you please post a link or picture of the document you referenced when you stated that the SEED was funded through MKSEARCH?

Thanks for all your hard work, I look forward to reading more of your blog!

    • Hi again! Thanks so much for your comment.

      1. No, but I haven’t read all the MKultra docs yet.

      2. Yes, I have several articles here at the blog already. The Moonies came out of the MRA, both the MRA and Scientology were chosen to do political action for the CIA in the 1950’s per handler Miles Copeland. There are 8 parts to my Synanon/Scientology series, a couple of which talk about the Moonie connection. You can search the blog for “Unification Church” and it should bring up the ones that mention or talk about it.
      3. Yes, but only in a gathering the information way, I am planning to address that in a later segment of the Synanon/Scientology series.
      4. I will when I reconstruct again what I found, for the post. It’s kind of scattered through my notes, and as I recall, it’s not as easy as “here’s one document”. More like piece of one, together with piece of another, but it is enough that I made the statement I did.

You are familiar that the LEAA was created for and originally functioned as another cut-out financing organization for rolled over MKUltra MKSearch programs, right?

If you are who I think you are, I know you’re working on a film about all this, so I understand the desire/need for documentation of this. I’m not sure if I have what you are wanting, even I don’t know what I have in my files right now..lol but rest assured that once I get on something, I will find the way to document it.

I did it with scientology, and *that* was supposed to be “not possible”. Or so I was repeatedly told and attempted to be diverted from…

      🙂

Thanks again for your great words of support – really appreciate that.

  2. Hi, This is so interesting to me. How can people and institutions get away with all of this. I know this is happening where I live at a sober living home for profit.
