**caveat – This infiltration and the alleged reason for it is simply what Bruce Rothwell told Mike McClaughry. It’s not likely that this was the real (or entire) reason he was trying to join Guardian’s Office staff and why he was trying to get services at one of the scientology Advanced Organizations in Los Angeles.

Regardless –

I found him.

And a number of the elements of what he told Mike turn out to be true.

It started by finding this obituary notice.

PDF of page – In Memory of Bruce Allan Rothwell

Dr. Bruce Allan Rothwell, U. S. Air Force, Retired, age 59 of Schertz, passed away November 14, 2009. Dr. Rothwell was preceded in death by his father, Charles Rothwell.

Maj. Rothwell served his Country 30 honorable years in the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Rothwell deeply enjoyed teaching as a professor and he also served as Dean for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University [Randolph AFB, Schertz, Texas] for several distinguished years.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.

The picture given in the notice –

Mike (who knew him) said that it could be him, but he had more hair when he knew him.

So then I found this –

Tucson Daily Citizen, 1968, Airman Bruce A. Rothwell assigned to Germany –

Noticing the High School name (Palo Verde High in Tucson Arizona) I then tracked down his senior year high school picture from 1968 –

Bottom row – end

Bruce Rothwell – 1968

I showed it to Mike and he said:

That’s him!

As a fun side note – I also found this junior high picture of him, Doolen Jr. High, from 1963.

Who is this guy really?

Well, Mike talks about him in his intelligence expose video – the video is qued right to where that starts.

The video was filmed by Mark Bunker at the Lisa McPherson Trust in Clearwater, Florida, in early 2000, shortly after Mike had been declared “Suppressive” by the Church of Scientology.

Mike Declare(1) Mike Declare(2).

Mike talks about him in a Time Track he made from around 2001 –

The plant was sent in by US Air Force Intelligence.

There were over 100 men waiting to do the new OT levels at an Air Force base in Georgia.

The plant started out by stealing technical materials from ASHO and sending it back tothe Air Force base in Georgia.

The plant was then attempting to get on AOLA lines tosteal the new OT levels, when he was caught by Mike McClaughry, Security Officer USGO.

The plant knew about the Remote Viewing Program at SRI.

The plant said that the U.S.Intelligence community considered Scientology to be a national security threat.

The reason they consider it a threat is that beings who can exteriorize could spy on them.

Furthermore, the guidance system on nuclear weapons is a magnetic field and it was proven at SRI that an OT can influence a magnetic field with his thought.

Therefore, the U.S. Intelligence community wanted the new OT levels in their hands. They wanted the new OT levels, not only for their own international spying, but for nuclear war defense. They thought that if Russia fired nuclear missiles at the U.S., that their OTs could make them turn around and go back down the hole it was fired from.

The plant gave his name as being Bruce Rothwell.

Note: Date is estimated by Mike. He was USGO Security Officer 1979 – 1981.

I just now found that Phil Scott (don’t know if that’s his real name or not) posted a couple of times about him to one of the scientology newsgroups in January of 1999.

Why Bob… I’ve admitted my almost total error….btw, you may not want to miss my response on this thread on the subject of LRH, US  Army intelligence, and the CIA……….That should be somewhat  redeeming.

I would be very interested in your remarks along those lines.  Mention the name Bruce Rothwell in a memo to the intel section and see what comes back.

– Phil Scott to Hummel, January 1999.

There were in fact heavy govt infiltrations into the cult in the mid 80’s, anyone who knew who Bruce Rothwell was would know that….. I of course knew bruce very well,  he was on my payroll for quite some time, was sent apparently because some of my session data leaked out… he spent half his
time grilling me about remote viewing, and the other half off in nut case sci fi probing. …. truly I didn’t have a clue on either issue, but the govt was in fact apparently very interested.   Bruce ended up to be a good sized flap on USGO lines in LA in the Late 70’s…. B1  (cult security) finally got to him.

– Response by Robert Hummels January 10, 1999 to Phil Scott – quoting Phil Scott

Mike talks some more about Bruce Rothwell in his book Scientology Roots, Chapter 26-3 War for the Minds of Men

Summer 1980 – I, Mike McClaughry, was the Security Officer at the United States Guardian’s Office in Los Angeles. Major Bruce Rothwell was attempting to gain approval to go on the Scientology upper levels. I had several interviews with Rothwell.

Rothwell told me that the United States intelligence community considered Scientology to be a national security threat, because people who could exteriorize might spy on the government and military. Rothwell also said that the experiments at SRI wherein Ingo Swann affected a magnetic field with his thought, was alarming. Rothwell said that the guidance system for a nuclear missile is a magnetic field. Such people might affect the path of a nuclear missile.

Bruce’s obituary confirms that he was a major.

Next, I just found that Bruce was actually declared suppressive/dead-filed some time by the Church (can’t tell when exactly) but he’s on the recently revealed list smuggled out by a woman a couple years back.

If you look in the Just Dox – Scientology section of our Reading Library, you will see this entry:

    • Deadfile/Suppressive Person list for U.S. – The list is in two columns, first is last name first, second is first name first. This PDF was created from the original csv file compiled by “TrevorAnon” from expose’ videos posted on youtube in June of 2013. List and video links were posted on:
1. the Ex-Scientologists Message Board (thread The current SP List – video capture).
2.  Why We Protest forums in 2013. Why We Protest has removed that thread since then, but you can see mention of it here.
3. Deirdre Saoirse Moen documents her name being on this list, in a blog post from December 2013.
4. The Videos were originally posted in 16 segments here; they have been since combined into a single video here. You can see Mike McClaughry’s name (and Virginia’s) at about 6:06 into the video.

Bruce A. Rothwell is on that list.

Next, I found that The Department of Veteran’s Affairs details his active enlistment dates in the Air Force (August 6, 1968 – November 30, 1982) –

That’s 14 years active enlisted. But, if we go back to his obituary we see this –

Maj. Rothwell served his Country 30 honorable years in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Rothwell deeply enjoyed teaching as a professor and he also served as Dean for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Universal [sic: University] for several distinguished years.

So, after 1982 he continued to work (in probably his intelligence capacity but as a civilian) for another sixteen years for the Air Force.

That’s interesting.

About nine months after Mike began his blog here, a CIA propaganda mouthpiece named Ed Dames engaged in an attack on Mike about this Bruce Rothwell business.

Ed Dames in all his obviousness

Going back to Mike’s book again, Scientology Roots, Chapter 26-3 War for the Minds of Men

He wrote the following about Dames, partial excerpt of section –

On June 27, 1972, Hal Puthoff sent a letter to Christopher Kit Green, who at the time was only a young analyst, informing him of positive Varian Hall magnetometer results during an experiment with psychic Ingo Swann..

Puthoff and his magnetometer.

Hal Puthoff and the Magnetometer

In the Kit Green Interview 2008 Christopher Green aka Ken Kress discussed some of the details of this experiment.

…when the subject placed his attention on the interior of the magnetometer, the output signal was visibly disturbed, indicating a change in the internal magnetic field. Several other correlations of his mental efforts with signal variations were observed. These variations in the magnetometer were never seen before or after the visit. The event was summarized and transmitted to the Agency in the form of a letter to an OSI analyst [3] and as discussions with OTS and ORD officers.

+cited in Ken Kress CIA report which originally appeared in the Winter 1977 issue of Studies in Intelligence, the CIA’s classified internal publication. It was released to the public in 1996. Abstract and new postscript written by Ken Kress in January 1999 for publication in the Journal of Scientific Exploration.

Ingo Swann allegedly uses his “ability to exteriorize” to spy on Russia, on behalf of the US Intelligence community. Pat Price was “the best” at remote viewing. In one experiment Price remote viewed a US military secret base and accurately described it, even reading the papers on the desks. After the June 1973 occurrence, (discussed shortly here) he went back East to work directly for the CIA, with Ken Kress (aka Christopher Green) as his handler.

Ingo Swann then set up a training program to teach others how to do Remote Viewing.

To test Swann’s program, CIA officer, Major Ed Dames, and five others go to SRI as a training group. The results were more than anyone had anticipated. Major Dames says that within 6 months the team members were producing psychically derived data with more consistency and accuracy than the most renown natural (untrained) psychics in the world.

Major Dames then acts as the Training and Operations Officer at the SRI Remote Viewing Program for “a new psychic intelligence community”. They were using the ability to remote view for spying purposes.

Ed Dames is kind of short apparently, ala David Miscavige.

Ed Dames – center

Apparently his “remote-viewing” program is applied to looking for gold. Anyone remember L. Ron Hubbard and his ridiculous “Mission into Time” cover for what he was really doing? He too said he was looking for “treasure” whereas what he was really doing was running guns and gold for the CIA.

Well. What an odd man, to put it mildly.

Anyway –

Not long after the attack about Mike’s “crapola” by Ed Dames, Mike did a post (which is currently on private status) on March 11, 2011 entitled: CIA Agent Ed Dames Does Propaganda Attack on Mike McClaughry.

I’ll excerpt the relevant parts for you –

I worked on staff at the Church of Scientology, starting in 1969.

From 1973 to 1981 I worked for the Guardians Office intelligence unit.

In 1978, some new OT levels were released and delivered by the Advanced Org in Los Angeles (AOLA).

From 1979 to 1981 I was Security Officer at the United States Guardians Office in Los Angeles. During that time I caught a plant who was trying to get on the OT levels at AOLA, allegedly for the purpose of stealing the new OT levels for the US military.

His name was Bruce Rothwell and he said that he was an officer in the US military. I believe he claimed to be a Captain in the USAF. He told me that there were “a hundred military men” on a military base who were waiting to be trained in Scientology OT levels. He also told me that Scientology was considered to be a national security threat because people who could exteriorize might spy on the U.S military.

Since then, I left the Church and did a video tape expose on the criminal activities of the Guardians Office. The video appears on the internet. One of the things I talked about was Bruce Rothwell.

Now, in present time, a person named “Aban” saw my video on the internet and he is  apparently taking remote viewing classes from Ed Dames, currently. He mentioned to Ed Dames that I talked about “the Air Force Captain, Bruce Rothwell”.  Aban asked Ed Dames what had happened to the Air Force remote viewing program.

Ed Dames then attacked me, calling my data hearsay and crapola, and said the Air Force never had a remote viewing program.

Ed Dames lied. The Air Force most certainly did have a remote viewing program. Documentation on this sequence of events follows…

Date shown for the forum when I looked at it is Saturday, March 5, 2011, 5:51PM

PST is 8 hours behind of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

So “my” time, PST, 9:51AM.

First post:

The first response is Thursday March 3, 2:11Pm, so that is 6:11Am PST. One can presumably say the first post was also on this date, prior to 6:11Am PST.

Ed Dames responds within an hour:

Responding to what is presented that I said in my video, Ed Dames, who is “former”  CIA, says:

“Try to avoid becoming fucked up by hearsay, and please cease saturating the local bandwidth with crapola….”

“The Air Force never had a RV program.”

Ed Dames just lied.

The initial CIA-funded project was later renewed and expanded. A number of CIA officials, including John N. McMahon (then the head of the Office of Technical Service and later the Agency’s deputy director), became strong supporters of the program. By the mid 1970s, facing the post-Watergate revelations of its “skeletons”, and after internal criticism of the program, the CIA dropped sponsorship of the SRI research effort.

Sponsorship was picked up by the Air Force, led by analyst Dale E. Graff of the Foreign Technology Division.

In 1979, the Army’s Intelligence and Security Command, which had been providing some taskings to the SRI investigators, was ordered to develop its own program by the Army’s chief intelligence officer, General Ed Thompson.

RV Timeline

July 1975 CIA terminates involvement in and funding of remote viewing.

Late 1975 Air Force Foreign Technology Division becomes the primary funder of SRI research program, with Dale Graff supervising.

ca. 1980 Air Force Chief of Staff cancels AF RV program; Dale Graff joins Defense Intelligence Agency as principal staff officer for remote viewing effort.

So much for Ed Dames credibility.

Note – You’ll notice that the ranks of both Captain and Major have been associated with Bruce Rothwell – because he told people different things at different times (Mike McClaughry included). Technically that’s a bit of sleight-of-hand on Bruce’s part because both are accurate. As you can see from his obituary, he is listed as a Major. Air Force rankings being what they are – one has to have been a Captain before being promoted to Major.

Back at the time, Mike actually got Bruce to sign an affidavit saying all the things Mike said he did – but unfortunately Mark Rathbun and David Miscavige do have a penchant for burning Guardian’s Office records.

One wonders whether perhaps this affidavit escaped the purging.

morticia - wink

As I go along, I’m sure I’ll find more about Mr. Bruce Rothwell and what he was really doing for the Air Force (and the CIA).

Like this odd little piece, for example –

At about the same time it became clear that my 16-year old son, David Roffman, would graduate from high school two years early, and enter the Engineering Physics program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  Encouraged by Dr. Puthoff, Dr. Scott Jones, Clark McClelland and others with inside information about what was supposedly going on in the black budget world, David read and posted his first draft of a chapter by chapter review of Frontiers in Propulsion Science on his web site.  His goal at Embry-Riddle is to gain the ability to properly analyze all the mathematical aspects of the claims out there about UFO propulsion and/or time travel.

Embry-Riddle researches UFO propulsion? I guess remote-viewing isn’t out of the question either – which as we know, was really just a trade-off term to cover up that the real focus of Dr. Hal Puthoff’s research at SRI was telepathy-interface machines. This is all around the same time that Dr. Hal Puthoff was also schilling for scientology and it’s amazing e-meter.

Scientology Roots – Chapter 26-3:

April 1973 – Hal Puthoff, Russell Targ and Phyllis Cole were researching esp enhancement through machines under NASA and JPL, as well as mind-machine interfaces.

Ingo Swann, Russell Targ and Harold Puthoff “decided” to call the PSI activity at SRI Remote Viewing  – with the reason given of that it was “to separate it from any discredited terms associated with the occult.”

Actual Final Report

NASA contract mind machine interface Puthoff SRI

Contract/Grant/Task Numbers: NAS7-100; JPL-953653; SRI PROJ. 2613
