Hubbard has to be stopped in a variety of ways. His “therapy” is I believe a form of conditioning and he is out for what appears to be, control of this planet. Thank you for reading. Sincerely [redacted]

“Before the students were put on the project, there was a rumor circulating about the Academy that Ron was onto something big, that he got sick and nearly died. The place was electric with anticipation, interest, excitement.

Besides the fact that this is an even earlier precedent for the marketing technique of the “I almost died” routine that Hubbard would later employ in advertising his Xenu and the space aliens advanced level called OT 3 – the “something big” was Dianezene (sometimes spelled Dianazene or Dianezine).

During the course of the experiment L. Ron Hubbard lectured personally. […] He lectured about radiation. He lectured about Dianezine. […] He told us Scientology would be in when the final results of the experiment were analyzed. […] We were advancing our own cases by taking Dianazene.

Griswold very helpfully tells us where Hubbard took the term engrams from, as opposed to attempts by others to try and say that he “took it from psychology” which is completely false and an intentional misdirection, by the way.

Griswold specifically points out that it was stolen from a “West Coast psychiatrist”.

Engrams, a word stolen from West Coast psychiatrist which according to Hubbard are moments of pain and/or unconciousness, run out (dissipate) quicker under Dianezine.

I detailed exactly who that was in my article The Covert Origins of Dianetics: Biological Psychiatry.

Quoting from it –

In 1946, a small band of psychiatrists formed the Society of Biological Psychiatry allegedly in response to the “U.S. infatuation with psychoanalysis”, advocating the development of neuroscience in consideration of psychiatric conditions.

It was these men, that also fronted the psychiatric drug industry, including Lithium, imipramine, clorpromazine, and so on – some VERY nasty drugs. They also linked together with the British intelligence front here in the U.S., the OSS, later named the CIA, to continue to research ways to control the minds of men.

Their very first publication was titled: The Engrammes of Psychiatry.

– You can view the book itself at Hathitrust. – “Engrammes” is the original German word, in english it is engram.

In the discussion of schizophrenia, this book stated that it (insanity) is caused by:

“an engrammatic diencephalic disorganization.”

Who and when?

On January 27, 1946 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, two California neurologists—Johannes Maagard Nielsen (1890–1969, professor of neurology at the University of Southern California) and his student George Newton Thompson (chief psychiatrist at the Los Angeles General Hospital)—organized a meeting of a select group of investigators interested in “the biological basis of behavior”; from this meeting emerged the Society of Biological Psychiatry.

Nielsen, in particular, is that “West Coast psychiatrist” of which Irvin Griswold is speaking of, that he said Hubbard stole the term engram from.

We started with 200 mg. Nicotinic Acid per day, we built up to 2000 mg. per day. We may have gone higher. This means 2500 mg. daily or 3000. (The lethal dosage according to hubbard is 90 grains of Nicotinic Acid […]

90 grains = 5831.9019 milligrams, so apparently they were certainly headed in that direction, taking almost half (or more) the lethal dosage!

Irvin then experiences adverse physical reactions, and what he called a psychotic break.

After my head seemed to literally explode under Dianezine after being on it for perhaps three weeks and burning up with a 104 degree to a 106 degree fever for days, with my skin beet-red, nauseous, hardly sleeping, attending courses, auditing and studying until all hours of the night, I had a “psychotic break”. I thought I was telepathic. I thought I was uncontrollably sending “messages” to and receiving “messages” from, other Scientologists. It was a living, searing state of the damned that I could not stop. I wanted to stop. Oh, God in Heaven, how I wanted to stop.

Later on, he is in and out of mental hospitals trying to find resolution to what happened to him, and one of his therapists makes a suggestion:

“…look up in some psychology journal or magazine about Nicotinic acid, having remembered reading an article about it.”

He told me some psychologists had made a test into Nicotinic Acid and had experienced “psychotic reactions” as a result.

That is exactly true.

Hubbard references concerning experimenting with Nicotinic Acid

First, here are some LRH references showing that he was researching nicotinic acid at the same time as some other CIA researchers were conducting research into nicotinic acid.

The first reference is from Dr. Winter, who was associated with Hubbard in the first organization of Dianetics – The Hubbard Dianetics Research Foundation. Winter resigned in October 1950, and published a book concerning his experiences with Hubbard and Dianetics in 1951. Hubbard was experimenting with high doses of vitamins this far back – exactly along the same lines as BLUEBIRD and ARTICHOKE which had an interest not only in CAUSING insanity, but also in DEFENSIVE MEASURES for their own intelligence people. Niacin, and high doses of vitamins were being experimented with on psychiatric patients (without their permission, of course) covertly in State Mental Hospitals around the country.

We have the actual book, A Doctor’s Report on Dianetics, published in 1951.  Concerning the “Guk” program, Dr. Winter explains that “Guk” was the name for a:

“…haphazard mixture of vitamins and glutamic acid, which was taken in huge doses in the belief that it made the patient ‘run better.’  There were no adequate controls set up for this experiment, and it was a dismal, expensive failure.””

Question and Answer Period: Auditor Effect on Meter, an LRH lecture 19 July 1961 –

“Female voice: I would like to ask what vitamins or what composition of vitamins would be taken in an intensive and if they were allowed vitamin B, and C and iron and nicotinic acid.

LRH: You’re talking about Guk is its oldest phrase. More politely, latterly, Dianazene and other such mixtures.

The target of the atomic bomb is what gave us Dianazene and that is the one which has the iron and everything else in it.  Now, let’s see, what is the formula for a Dianazene? I think it’s 100 milligrams of Bl – something on the order of this; this would be a workable formula anyhow-15 grains of dicalcium phosphate (or calcium), 250 milligrams of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Now, that all by itself is Guk.

So those three items were the original Guk. And that is vitamin Bl, 100 milligrams, 15 grains of dicalcium phosphate and 250 milligrams of vitamin C (ascorbic acid).  Now, that was Guk.

And to this, if you add iron and 100 milligrams of nicotinic acid… you’ll start running off all of the sunburns, all atomic blast flushes.

And in addition to that, its basics have something to do with skin cancer because once in a while some brave soul taking this stuff has turned on – or this has happened now and then – has turned on skin cancer…  And it has run right straight on through and turned off again, providing he persisted.

The reason why this rationale came about is very simple; is nicotinic acid is listed in the “pharmaceticopeia”  …is listed as a – a drug which produces a drug rash … So it is listed as a dangerous drug because it turns on a flush.

And we did quite a few tricks with this, but we were experimenting around.

Dianazene is the whole mixture of the ancient Guk plus nicotinic acid and is used only for the purpose of the discharge of radiation and is an experimental drug but does do some remarkable things. ”
.

These lectures from 1956, are exactly at the time Irvin Griswold was undergoing the program that “Hubbard almost died from” – and remember, this was being presented as some bombshell discovery that Hubbard supposedly just pulled out of his ass somehow.
.

Radiation, an LRH lecture  5 November 1956 –

“Well, how do you administer this nicotinic acid?

Well, it’s very uncomfortable stuff, but it’s terribly convincing. It turns on any phase of atomic radiation sickness. And if the cure is not completed… it leaves one hung up in some phase of atomic-radiation sickness. But he is already in some phase of it, so what difference does that make?

Now, nicotinic acid is simply nicotinic acid. It is niacin, it is lots of things, but just remember it’s nicotinic acid.

But remember, to this we can add all of our 1950 guk experience. And we experimented with niacin back then, not knowing what it was running out, but thinking it was running out only sunburn. Sunburn was an incidental thing that we were running out in 1950.

We’re liable to sell this to the Atomic Energy Commission.  In fact, we’re in action doing it right this minute as “Dianazene.””
.

Radiation And Its Relationship To Processing, an LRH lecture 8 November 1956 –

“Nicotinic acid is advertised in the Pharmacopoeia as turning on a flush.  It says so; it says it’s toxic. But it’s a funny flush, isn’t it, that in 1950 displayed nothing but bathing-suit patterns on the body.

But how about a case that had all the sunburn run out by nicotinic acid in 1950, and for years afterwards is totally null on the subject, starts to run out face flushes, all with visios of Phoenix? Must have been facing in some direction when something flashed. Got it?

I don’t even tell you now that nicotinic acid runs out radiation. But it’s running out more than it ran out in 1950 and that’s for sure.

You have to be very careful in the field of research where you go for sources. Sources must be reliable. And you get a bunch of sources that are under confidential classification or secret classification and this and that, and you take the odds and ends and scraps which are escaping out from underneath this basket – this bushel which is hiding the light – and you often don’t get the complete, straight story. So I hadn’t paid too much attention to these various things.

But we found out quite independently that the administration of dicalcium phosphate, the administration of B complex and the administration of ascorbic acid are all actually necessary to the administration of nicotinic acid. We call this compound Dianazene, after Dianetics. It is a compound.

I’m at this moment engaged in seeking to persuade any government agency that is in charge – because I find out now that the Atomic Energy Commission is no longer in charge of atomic energy; I think that’s quite interesting – but any agency that’s in charge of this sort of thing, to send us some “wictims.” Well, they’re proud men; they’ll send us some wictims. They’ll send some fellows over -“Look what we did.  Ha-ha! tsk’ You know, that frame of mind. They’ll send us some people over that have been overexposed, that they know have been overexposed. And when we get our hands on them, brother, you could probably toast marshmallows on them, because we’ll start slugging them up.

All right. Now, we’re going to get ahold of these fellows and we’re going to shoot them full of Dianazene. Some we will take a rational course of just a normal, natural dosage, and some we will slug up and some we will underdose. This we will do for sure. And we will get more data on this subject, and we will learn a little bit more about it. We will balance up our ration a little bit more. We also have to get equipment that measures the amount of count in an individual, you know, so that we point the equipment at him, and it goes b-r-r-r-r and measures the amount in there.

It isn’t, by the way, just nicotinic acid. We’ve already found out that it needs the other materials to really give it a good, hard punch.

So we look along this line and we discover, then – what do we do? What do we do with all this information when we’ve got it? – when we know the dosages, when they’re exact, when they’re right down to the smallest milligram.

Anyhow, we’ll take handfuls of this stuff and throw it into people and see what happens.  And when we’ve done that …we will, of course, issue a very complicated manual on the subject which will befoozle anybody. The most complicated manual: It’d be “The Care and Treatment of Radiation.””
.

The Scale of Havingness, an LRH lecture 29 November 1956 –

“So here we have this problem and here we have this compound that we’re calling Dianazene. I gave this a lot of study last year…”
.

In this next reference, a technical bulletin touting the later “Purification” rundown, the assertion is offered that Niacin’s biochemical reaction is Hubbard’s “own private, personal discovery”.

That is a point-blank lie.

.

HCOB 6 February 1978RA  THE PURIFICATION RUNDOWN

“My work covering vitamins and deficiencies, stimulants and depressants and the field of biochemistry goes back to the spring of 1950.

Niacin’s biochemical reaction is my own private, personal discovery. In the middle of the 1950s, I was doing work on radiation and I worked out that it must be niacin that operated on radiation. Niacin runs out radiation.

I have even found that there is such a thing as the “drug personality.” Drugs can apparently change the attitude of a person from his original personality to one secretly harboring hostilities and hatreds he does not permit to show on the surface.  While this possibly is not always the case, it does establish a linkage between drugs and increasing difficulties with crime, production, program execution and the modern breakdown of the social and industrial culture.”

Hubbard’s Lockstep with CIA/MI6 Mind Control Research

LOCKSTEP

Lockstep – Hubbard using Niacin (also known as vitamin B3, vitamin PP, and nicotinic acid) – to “handle” someone’s anti-social problems (The Purification Rundown) as well as developing psychosis or “breaks” in mental patterns.

Hubbard was doing Niacin work on “pre-clears” starting as early as 1950, which is EXACTLY the same time period as top-secret projects BLUEBIRD and ARTICHOKE.

Note his dissembling here, where he tries to get around the fact that this research was Top Secret and his having obviously had access to it, did tend to blow his cover as just some wildcat “independent” researcher.

He wasn’t.

But we found out quite independently….

– Radiation And Its Relationship To Processing, an LRH lecture 8 November 1956 –

Hadn’t paid too much attention? See what he’s doing there? – he’s attempting to divert attention off of that is exactly what he was doing, working with and paralleling CIA/MI6 researchers in behavior modification. But, he doesn’t want people to know that because they would, rightly, run right the hell out the door and where would all these nice misled and voluntary “subjects” be found then?

You see, contrary to Hubbard’s little song-and-dance routine there, top secret research was most definitely going on in mental hospitals underneath the rubricks of BLUEBIRD, ARTICHOKE and then MKULTRA – and Hubbard didn’t just have “scraps” and “odds and ends” – he had full access to this top secret research.

Not only that, but research was also being conducted called the Human Radiation Experiments, one of many projects a very nasty man named Hubertus Strughold was involved in.

Strughold and Human Experimentation

The SAM-UVM* contract grant, AF 18 (604) 1093 was funded in part by the DOE, yet in the 2000’s, DOE claimed to have no documents.

SAM-UVM* = School of Aeronautical Medicine and University Vermont Medical School – Department of Pharmacology.

[…] In 1955 the Chief Scientist at the School of Aviation Medicine was Hubertus Strughold, former Chief Scientist for Research at the Dachau concentration camp in Nazi Germany.

Strughold conducted experiments using drugs and mind control in Dachau and is widely regarded as having been the first to do so.

[…] After WWII, American military intelligence discovered files on drug and mind control experiments conducted by the Nazis in the concentration camps. One can only imagine the horror contained in those files. Yet, American military intelligence decided, as did the American government, to use some of the methods contained in the Nazi files on the unwitting American public.

[…] The CIA and mind control programs were done, according to the CIA, to protect America from enemy threats. The experiments were inspired by the content of the medical records found in the Nazi concentration camps.

The goal of the Dachau mescaline (a drug with many of mind altering qualities of LSD) experiments on prisoners was “to eliminate the will of the person examined.” – Walter Neff, German research team member, Dachau.

John Marks, – Chapter 1, World War II, The Search for the Manchurian Candidate

On the outskirts of Basel, Switzerland, overlooking the Rhine, lies the worldwide headquarters of the Sandoz drug and chemical empire. There, on the afternoon of April 16, 1943, Dr. Albert Hofmann made an extraordinary discovery—by accident.

[…] Less than 200 miles from Hofmann’s laboratory, doctors connected to the S.S. and Gestapo were doing experiments that led to the testing of mescaline on prisoners at Dachau. Germany’s secret policemen had the notion, completely alien to Hofmann, that they could use drugs like mescaline to bring unwilling people under their control.

The mescaline tests at Dachau run by Dr. Kurt Plötner [a junior of Strughold] were not nearly so lethal as the others in the “aviation” series, but the drug could still cause grave damage, particularly to anyone who already had some degree of mental instability. The danger was increased by the fact that the mescaline was administered covertly by S.S. men who spiked the prisoners’ drinks. Unlike Dr. Hofmann, the subjects had no idea that a drug was causing their extreme disorientation. Many must have feared they had gone stark mad all on their own. Always, the subjects of these experiments were Jews, gypsies, Russians, and other groups on whose lives the Nazis placed little or no value. In no way were any of them true volunteers, although some may have come forward under the delusion that they would receive better treatment.

After the war, Neff told American investigators that the subjects showed a wide variety of reactions. Some became furious; others were melancholy or gay, as if they were drunk. Not surprisingly, “sentiments of hatred and revenge were exposed in every case.”

Neff noted that the drug caused certain people to reveal their “most intimate secrets.” Still, the Germans were not ready to accept mescaline as a substitute for their more physical methods of interrogation. They went on to try hypnosis in combination with the drug, but they apparently never felt confident that they had found a way to assume command of their victim’s mind.

Even as the S.S. doctors were carrying on their experiments at Dachau, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), America’s wartime intelligence agency, set up a “truth drug” committee under Dr. Winfred Overholser, head of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington. The committee quickly tried and rejected mescaline, several barbiturates, and scopolamine. Then, during the spring of 1943, the committee decided that cannabis indica—or marijuana—showed the most promise, and it started a testing program in cooperation with the Manhattan Project, the TOP SECRET effort to build an atomic bomb.

[…] The Manhattan Project supplied the first dozen test subjects, who were asked to swallow a concentrated, liquid form of marijuana that an American pharmaceutical company furnished in small glass vials. A Project man who was present recalls: “It didn’t work the way we wanted. Apparently the human system would not take it all at once orally. The subjects would lean over and vomit.” What is more, they disclosed no secrets, and one subject wound up in the hospital.

Back to the drawing board went the OSS experts. They decided that the best way to administer the marijuana was inhalation of its fumes. Attempts were made to pour the solution on burning charcoal, and an OSS officer named George White (who had already succeeded in knocking himself out with an overdose of the relatively potent substance) tried out the vapor, without sufficient effect, at St. Elizabeth’s. Finally, the OSS group discovered a delivery system which had been known for years to jazz musicians and other users: the cigarette. OSS documents reported that smoking a mix of tobacco and the marijuana essence brought on a “state of irresponsibility, causing the subject to be loquacious and free in his impartation of information.”

[…]From the Dachau experiments came the cruelty that man was capable of heaping upon his fellows in the name of advancing science and helping his country gain advantage in war.

[…]Wherever their extreme experiments went, the CIA sponsors picked for subjects their own equivalents of the Nazis’ Jews and gypsies: mental patients, prostitutes, foreigners, drug addicts, and prisoners, often from minority ethnic groups.

In the postwar era, American officials straddled the ethical and the cutthroat approaches to scientific research. After an Allied tribunal had convicted the first echelon of surviving Nazi war criminals—the Görings and Speers—American prosecutors charged the Dachau doctors with “crimes against humanity” at a second Nuremberg trial.

The judges at Nuremberg…put forth what came to be known as the Nuremberg Code on scientific research.

Its main points were simple:

  1. Researchers must obtain full voluntary consent from all subjects;
  2. experiments should yield fruitful results for the good of society that can be obtained in no other way;
  3. researchers should not conduct tests where death or serious injury might occur, “except, perhaps” when the supervising doctors also serve as subjects.

The Nuremberg Code has remained official American policy ever since 1946, but, even before the verdicts were in, special U.S. investigating teams were sifting through the experimental records at Dachau for information of military value. The report of one such team found that while part of the data was “inaccurate,” some of the conclusions, if confirmed, would be “an important complement to existing knowledge.” Military authorities sent the records, including a description of the mescaline and hypnosis experiments, back to the United States. None of the German mind-control research was ever made public.

Note the disturbing similarity of this statement about the effects of mescaline dosing at Dachau:

sentiments of hatred and revenge were exposed in every case.

With this one by Hubbard –

…secretly harboring hostilities and hatreds he does not permit to show on the surface.”  – HCOB 6 February 1978RA  THE PURIFICATION RUNDOWN

– – –

Operation Paperclip was the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) program (ordered by their masters British SOE and MI6) and it was used to recruit the scientists of Nazi Germany for employment by the United States after WWII.

It was conducted by the Joint Intelligence Objectives Agency (JIOA), and was part of laying waste to Germany’s scientific and productive capabilities as a country.

It was said by one British official at the time, essentially; that every factory, every mine, every anything at all that could be a place to produce scientific discoveries was to be destroyed completely. One way this was done was by getting control of suppliers of any equipment that could possibly be used “in someone’s barn” or anywhere, for scientific experimentation.

The U.S. Naval Technical Mission was tasked with obtaining pertinent industrial and scientific material (such as Strughold’s mescaline mind control research) that had been produced by the Third Reich and which may be of benefit to U.S. interests.

Following a lengthy report, the Navy instigated Project CHATTER in 1947.

Many of the Nazi scientists and medical doctors who conducted hideous experiments were later recruited by the U.S. Army and worked out of Heidelberg prior to being secretly relocated to the United States under the Project PAPERCLIP program.

Although the JIOA’s recruitment of German scientists began shortly after “victory” was declared (8 May 1945), US President Harry Truman did not formally order the execution of Operation Paperclip until August 1945.

In an obvious public relations maneuver  – so that the President would not be “seen” to be supportive of such a monstrous injustice to all the people horribly experimented on and killed by the Nazis – Truman’s order expressly excluded anyone found “to have been a member of the Nazi Party, and more than a nominal participant in its activities, or an active supporter of Nazi militarism.”

However, those restrictions would have rendered ineligible most of the leading scientists the JIOA had identified for recruitment, among them rocket scientists Wernher von Braun and Arthur Rudolph, and the physician Hubertus Strughold, each earlier classified as a “menace to the security of the Allied Forces”.

To circumvent President Truman’s anti-Nazi order, and the Allied Potsdam and Yalta agreements, the JIOA worked independently to create false employment and political biographies for the scientists. The JIOA also expunged from the public record the scientists’ Nazi Party memberships and régime affiliations.

Now that those nasty little truthful “details” have been erased, Truman’s administration can pretend to not know what they are approving. Accordingly, the U.S. Government granted the scientists security clearance to work in the United States. Paperclip, the project’s operational name, derived from the paperclips used to attach the scientists’ new political personae to their “US Government Scientist” JIOA personnel files.

Under the leadership of Dr. Hubertus Strughold, 34 ex-Nazi scientists accepted “Paperclip” contracts, authorized by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and were put to work at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. By 1953 the CIA, U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army Chemical Corps were conducting their own narco-hypnosis programs on unwilling victims that included prisoners, mental patients, foreigners, ethnic minorities and those classified as sexual deviants.

Such as projects CHATTER and CASTIGATE.

CHATTER was a Navy program from 1950-53, searching for a truth serum using barituates, amphetamines and heroin – heroin having first been manufactured at St. Mary’s Hospital in London in 1874, by the way.

CASTIGATE was a joint project by the CIA and Navy that tested a “secret potion” of a depressant, a stimulant and the active ingredient in Marijuana, THC. The tests were conducted in Germany in a three-day period.

CHAPTER, CHATTER and CASTIGATE were continuations of the Overholser truth serum committee, and obviously all three form perfect examples of the continuation of the Strughold Dachau camp experiments, the first mind-control experiments in the world.

Almost immediately, Strughold and his team also began human radiation experiments, one such contract is the one mentioned earlier between the School of Aviation Medicine, where he was the Chief Researcher, and the University of Vermont in 1955.

The Air Force was established in 1947 under the new DOD.

Prior to this it had been part of the U.S. Army under the War Department.

Several Air Force components have been involved in biomedical research, including the Office of the Surgeon General (OSG), which has general oversight responsibilities. Another, the School of Aviation Medicine (SAM), was a subordinate command of the Air University in the 1950s and 1960s and is now part of the Human Systems Center.

[…] the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) dealing with biomedical research …was established in 1947 and advises the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff on research and development.

[…]The Air Force provided a list of more than 600 human radiation experiments, approximately 90 of which predate 1975.

[…] SAM was a primary sponsor of the majority of the pre-1975experiments, and the Air Force has provided histories of SAM.

The Air Force reports that additional material is warehoused atSAM’s Texas facilities; however, records of many individual experiments appear to have been destroyed or taken by the investigators.

– Interim Report of the Advisory Committee on Human Radiation Experiments, October 21, 1994; APPENDIX E SUMMARY OF AGENCY RECORDS RETRIEVAL

The aeromedical library at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas had been named after Hubertus Strughold in 1977.

However, under public outcry at the revelation of documents from the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal that linked Strughold to medical experiments in which inmates from Dachau were tortured and killed – it had to be renamed.

Strughold, is a perfect example of a poster boy, a predecessor if you will, of projects BLUEBIRD, ARTICHOKE, and MKULTRA.

Hubertus Strughold supervised numerous murderous experiments performed at Dachau.

More than 32000 people died at this camp due to malnutrition, disease, execution, and unethical experiments.

divider

Coming back to Hubbard’s rather interesting timing on his first Nicotinic Acid experimentations in 1950 and its coincidence with Project BlUEBIRD – what was BLUEBIRD?

BLUEBIRD combined and rolled over projects CHATTER, CHAPTER, and CASTIGATE, and combined elements of Strughold’s Dachau research.

BLUEBIRD was a project researching “interrogation methods”. BLUEBIRD’s agenda was to prevent extraction of unauthorized information from personnel; and to control an individual, using interrogation techniques.

CIA Director, Navy man Roscoe Hillenkoetter approved the program “BLUEBIRD” on April 20, 1950. It was run by the CIA’s Office of Scientific Intelligence (OSI).

Roscoe Hillenkoetter

Roscoe_H._Hillenkoetter

At a secret meeting at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal, June 1, 1951, intelligence officials of U.S., Canada, and Great Britain developed mind-control strategies after reviewing reports of American prisoners being brainwashed. They all knew that there was nothing new to the “Russian” threat, or their methods of “brainwashing. That was merely a PR ploy designed to gain public support, and at Capitol Hill, for the real experiments these people had in mind.

BLUEBIRD was renamed ARTICHOKE two months later on August 20, 1951. It was rolled over into Project MKULTRA on April 13, 1953.

ARTICHOKE was an offensive program of mind control that gathered information together with the intelligence divisions of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and FBI.

In addition, the scope of the project was outlined in a memo dated January 1952 that stated:

Can we get control of an individual to the point where he will do our bidding against his will and even against fundamental laws of nature, such as self-preservation?

Strategies for mind-control were sought; suitable human subjects for research were needed.

The ethics of research on unwitting subjects was sloughed off under the excuse that it was their “patriotic” duty – never mind people’s rights – and as you can see, this was in direct violation of the Nuremberg code which stated “the consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.”

So, using U.S. citizens on U.S. soil as research subjects was problematic for the CIA, legally and ethically.

This is where L. Ron Hubbard came in, since, as Irwin Griswold put it, they were told they were going to ‘save mankind’ if they participated in the Nicotinic acid experiments and they eagerly did so. Perfect voluntary guinea pigs!

But here, voluntary is not really voluntary, nor was it informed consent, because the test subjects (scientologists) were not told that they were actually participating in mind control experimentation – particularly one using high doses of a chemical that is known to develop psychosis!

On that note, let’s have a look at some actual documents.

First, here is a complete listing of declassified MKUltra documents, although it is difficult to tell what is what, even from the index this website provides. There are errors in the index, such as some Project Bluebird files are misnumbered as 140392 series.

These scanned images of declassified MKUltra documents are all also available at the Internet Archive using the same numbering system. This was not easy to track down, let me tell you, and I thought I should provide this backup version just in case something should happen with black vault’s website. Plus, I have also uploaded these zip files here at the blog – see the CIA Declassified Document Library section of our Reading Library.

Using Black Vault’s layout, the following documents are on cd #1 main directory. These documents I’m about to discuss, contain research on nicotinic acid, which shed light on the real purposes of L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianezene project and the later “Purification” rundown (that is heavily promoted in the Narconon drug-rehab programs). Note: to try and distance itself from the stigma of scientology, Narconon renames the procedure the “New Life Detoxification Program.”

The date of this first document is 8 January 1952, exactly the same month of the above ARTICHOKE “scope” outline, and it’s even addressed to the OSI branch.

“Nicotinic acid…it’s therapeutic action… is in developing a psychosis…”

Remember what Irvin said they had been told in 1956 by Hubbard?

Engrams, a word stolen from West Coast psychiatrist which according to Hubbard are moments of pain and/or unconciousness, run out (dissipate) quicker under Dianezine.

– P11, Folder 1 PDF, CD #1, FDA declassified records; unnamed source who participated in Dianezene eperiments in November-December 1956; report to FDA February 25, 1969, responded to March 4, 1969 by Harry E. Dutts (sp?) Assistant to the Director of the Division of Case Guidance, Bureau of compliance.
Note: Irwin E. Griswold is the writer of this document, as verified in a different document found in CD #3, Vol 12 of 18 PDF, FDA declassified records – letter from Irvin E. Griswold beginning on page 2, it is dated as received December 30, 1969.

Run out is another way of putting the idea of “developing” a psychosis, and Hubbard did indeed refer to engrams as “the source” of psychosis.

L. Ron Hubbard – Take 1

The single source of inorganic mental illness… is the reactive engram bank.

– Dianetics – The Modern Science of Mental Health, Chapter IX, Book Two -The Single Source of All Inorganic Mental and Organic Psycho-Somatic ills.

– – –

Every engram contains and enforces the command on the analytical mind that it has been dispersed and is not operating. This is common to every engram. This is reduction of the intellect by engrams totally aside from specific engramic content. It explains at once insanity and also the remarkable mental facility of a cleared or released individual.

L. Ron Hubbard – Take 2
(2 years later)

You can reduce psychosis to this definition: Psychosis is the condition of an entity or “idle spirit,” you might say, moving in to control, but being stuck on the track.

But there is your basis on psychosis, and also on neurosis…

– Anatomy Of The Theta Body an L. Ron Hubbard lecture 16 April 1952

This next document also discusses this idea of “developing” the psychosis.

“…the effect of [nicotinic acid] on psychoses…”

.

This next document also discusses that a patient died from the previous mixture treatment, and rather cavalierly says that it “slowed things down” on experimenting!

Now, check out the effects the previous mixed Niacin treatment caused. It caused a form of SHOCK.

Now we’ll get into the ARTICHOKE documents I have been able to identify, so far.

Do note that ALL the previous documents concerning nicotinic acid, as well as the experimentations of trying to cause epilepsy in people, all came beneath BLUEBIRD/ARTICHOKE.

The following documents are on Black Vault’s cd #1 main directory.

Keep in mind, this is Allen Dulles writing this document –

“I am sure that you will recognize the implications which might be drawn should it become known, generally, that CIA or the Military Intelligence Agencies are directly concerned in this matter, even though this concern stems primarily from the defensive aspects of the problem….The Code word “Artichoke” has been assigned and is unclassified when used in such a way that it does not reveal the nature or scope of the problem.” – Deputy Director of the CIA Allen Dulles

A word about the functions of the Director, and Deputy Director –

The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (D/CIA) reports directly to the Director of National Intelligence (DNI); in practice, he deals with the DNI, Congress (usually via the Office of Congressional Affairs), and the White House, while the Deputy Director is the internal executive.

So, Dulles, as D/Director, was the actual man-on-the-ground, whereas Hillenkoetter was the glad-handing on the “hill” (Capitol Hill) type of guy.

Allen Welsh Dulles became the DD/CIA in August of 1951, just in time to rename BLUEBIRD to ARTICHOKE. He held this position until February of 1953, when he was promoted to Director of the CIA, and his Deputy position was filled by General Charles Pearre Cabell, until Cabell was forced by President Kennedy to resign, on January 31, 1962, following the failure of the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

a little closer…

“Medical Science, particularly in the fields of psychiatry and psychotherapy, has developed a variety of techniques whereby some control can be imposed on the will of an individual. The techniques include neuro-surgery, electric shock, drugs, hypnosis and others.”

Bringing this out in extreme highlighting –

“…the fields of psychiatry and psychotherapy, has developed a variety of techniques whereby some control can be imposed on the will of an individual.”

.

So, that’s the game then.

Those are the declassified CIA documents that I have found so far, I’m sure that I’ll find more as I continue to go through those files.

Next, let’s examine some of the vaguely alluded to research concerning Nicotinic Acid, that BLUEBIRD, ARTICHOKE and MKULTRA projects were utilizing/funding – in MKULTRA this fell particularly under the LSD research sub-projects, interestingly enough.

Here’s some examples of scholarly papers, the first one is exactly just a year before Hubbard created this Dianezine research project in Washington D.C., and it is exactly on the topic of modified psychosis.

#1 – Agnew, N. & Hoffer, A. (1955). Nicotinic acid modified lysergic acid diethylamide psychosis. British Journal of Mental Science, 101,12-27

Nicotinic acid was administered to one group of subjects at the height of the LSD experience and to another for three days prior to the administration of LSD. Tentative findings are presented which indicate that nicotinic acid, when administered at the height of the LSD experience, has a markedly normalizing effect. The lack of modification of affective disturbances is noted and discussed.

The administration of nicotinic acid prior to LSD reduced disturbances in concentration and vision.

However, in some subjects it produced a psychosis, the primary symptoms of which more closely resemble the primary symptoms of schizophrenia than those most commonly found when LSD alone is administered.

The mode of action of nicotinic acid does not appear to be that of direct biological antagonism as initially hypothesized.

Saskatchewan Committee on Schizophrenic Research. Supported by the Department of National Health and Welfare, Canada.

The full Abstract of the above, was found at the lovely Erowid website – a very helpful resource on more than one occasion.

Abstract

PROBLEM: The LSD psychosis has been compared to toxic and functional psychoses. Nicotinic acid has been used in the treatment of various psychoses The authors hypothesis was therefore that nicotinic acid will modify the LSD psychosis.

METHODS: 10 male volunteers. Age range 19-31 (mean 26). Group A (5 men): 200 mg nicotinic acid I.V. at the height of the LSD experience. Group B (5 men): 3 g nicotinic acid orally daily for 3 days prior to the LSD study. One man also received 200 mg nicotinic acid i.V. 15 minutes after taking LSD. On the experimental day each subject received lO0ug LSD orally. Each subject under constant observation for at least 4 hours. Tape recordings made. On the day after the experiment each subject submitted a report.

RESULTS: Nicotinic acid given at the height of the LSD experience resulted in a striking reduction in all LSD-induced disturbances, except affective, in all subjects but one. The reduction of the disturbances occurred within a few minutes of the nicotinic acid injection and was maintained. It seemed clear that the mode of action of nicotinic acid was not that of direct biological antagonism.

Group B: Difficulties in powers of expression and concentration were mild by comparison to those in group A before nicotinic acid. Visual symptoms, usually the most striking feature of the LSD experience, appeared as the major symptom in only 1 case. Disturbances of self-identity and reality were the major symptoms in 3 cases. (One subject in group A reported similar disturbances) STEFANIUK in a personal communication, reported that approxo 1/4 of subjects noted disturbances of this kind after 200/ug LSD. The relatively clear description of the disturbances by 3 of the subjects was impressive. However, vagueness, affective disturbances, and lack of co-operation when pushed were also evident.

It is believed that the administration of nicotinic acid prior to LSD resulted in a “model” psychosis more in keeping with the schizophrenic prototype.

COMMENT: Confirmation of these findings is desirable as only a few studies were carried out.

.

I call your attention particularly to this part:

3 g nicotinic acid orally daily for 3 days prior to the LSD study.

Three grams of nicotinic acid is three thousand milligrams – very close to what Hubbard was escalating people up to taking.

We started with 200 mg. Nicotinic Acid per day, we built up to 2000 mg. per day. We may have gone higher. This means 2500 mg. daily or 3000. (The lethal dosage according to hubbard is 90 grains of Nicotinic Acid […]

– P10, Folder 1 PDF, CD #1, FDA declassified records; unnamed source who participated in Dianezene eperiments in November-December 1956; report to FDA February 25, 1969, responded to March 4, 1969 by Harry E.

And I call your attention to this part:

“…resulted in a “model” psychosis more in keeping with the schizophrenic prototype.

One of the “schizophrenic” symptoms they like to lump in there, is belief in telepathy. Now, I’m not saying that telepathy is schizphrenia, far from it, but for Irwin Griswold these high doses of Nicotinic acid that Hubbard had him on did indeed appear to have caused a form of psychotic break, or at least completely out-of-control aspects of native abilities along those lines.

– P10, Folder 1 PDF, CD #1, FDA declassified records; unnamed source who participated in Dianezene eperiments in November-December 1956; report to FDA February 25, 1969, responded to March 4, 1969 by Harry E. Dutts (sp?) Assistant to the Director of the Division of Case Guidance, Bureau of compliance.

Griswold expanded on that a bit more in a different letter to the FDA.

I was actually afraid I would be killed by the Scientologists. Basic to this are my 1956 Washington Dianezene experiences. There were spoken rumors about some kind of “telepathic control” existing at the Academy, some kind of “telepathic overseeing” over student auditors and their preclears. I experienced some of this myself while under Dianezene. ESP or drug-induced psychosis, I was afraid in 1957 to tell my [redacted] that I had been on a drug when I wrecked my car. [some time in December 1956]

At that time I had just evicted myself from room in I believe the [redacted] having received a “telepathic order” from Ron Hubbard to “Get out of Washington!” I was under 2000 mg daily of Nicotinic Acid….and this was a few days ate the “head-exploding” incident. […] I had been “told” to “leave no traces”.

At the Elmwood I believe I took my next dose of Dianezene, may have taken it one or two times more, and the next day at …the Hubbard Guidance Center – was taken off the project by my auditor, at the order of L. Ron Hubbard.

– P12, Folder 1 PDF, CD #1, FDA declassified records; unnamed source who participated in Dianezene eperiments in November-December 1956; report to FDA February 25, 1969, responded to March 4, 1969 by Harry E. Dutts (sp?) Assistant to the Director of the Division of Case Guidance, Bureau of compliance.

So…here’s L. Ron Hubbard doing pretty much exactly the same research as these people and at the same time.

He’s experimenting with both causing psychosis and treating psychosis on people without telling them that is what he was doing, or that this was within specific top secret mind control research parameters. Leading a “kooky cult” providing a perfect cover and maximum deniability for the CIA. Plus, he’s positioning it as “radiation” experimentation as well.

Note: If you think that people like the CIA and their British MI6 masters didn’t think the kind of people that were getting into scientology and dianetics were “psychotic” – think again. They were often rebels, iconoclasts, people that shunned “society” in one way or another. ergo “the weak” – as Dr. Ewen Cameron put it. All-inall, I’m sure it was thought these poor people, thinking they are saving mankind against the evil overlords – when in fact they are under them – these people provided excellent cannon fodder for this kind of experimentation.

Especially considering one of the sub-goals of Dianetics/Scientology is to make a more amenable frame of mind, happy human who would ultimately become happy to re-enter society and conform within their strict rules of what “social” is and what “anti-social” is. All while thinking they are “freer”, of course.

You see this quite often with so-called “ex” scientologists, who think they are better off now as compared to an insane cult, which isn’t saying much – see how that works?

– – –

Just a year later, and the same year (1956) that Hubbard began his Dianezene project, another study paper came out, and you can see that LSD and causing psychosis research is well underway.

#2 – Model Psychoses Induced by LSD-25 in Normals. Psychophysiological Investigations, with Special Reference to the Mechanism of the Paranoid Reaction; NICHOLAS A. BERCEL, M.D.; LEE E. INTRODUCTION  Experimental psychosis has a long history. It might have started with the administration of Cannabis indica boiling in wine to the ancient Hun warriors, resulting in mental obfuscation, as they were prepared for surgery because of wounds sustained in battle. Scientific experimental psychiatry began toward the end of the last century, in the Kraepelinian era—when the organic theory of psychoses was in its fullest vogue. Beringer’s experiments with mescaline1 marked a milestone in research in that many of the symptoms induced were highly similar to those encountered in schizophrenia and the drug seemed to have had a selective affinity for the brain. The discovery of LSD-25* by Stoll and Hoffmann2 was an even more exciting event, because the drug worked similarly in infinitesimal-trace amounts. Stoll3 (1947) suggested the pharmacological designation Phantastium for this substance, and he classified the resultant model psychosis as that of the acute schizophrenic…

Remember when Hubbard tried to spin that he was “first” in this type of research?

Well, sorry, that just ain’t true.

H.M. Cleckley (whom Hubbard also stole his “anti-social” characteristics tech from, beat him to it way back in 1939.

Hervey Milton Cleckley was a Rhodes Scholar, and if you read these two library articles:

1. The Round Table – What is it Really – added January 23rd, 2015
2. Cecil John Rhodes – ‘Confession of Faith’ 1877 – added January 13th, 2015

You’ll see that ain’t a good thing at all – it means that British intelligence and the slavemasters felt this guy was slavemaster material, enough so to choose him. It also means that they wanted this guy to do the work that he did, it’s kind of “part of the deal”, you see.

Which he promptly went about whatever their “plan” was for them…

He was appointed the Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia in 1955, and became founding chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior. He served as psychiatric consultant to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Augusta and to the US Army Hospital at Camp Gordon. He was a member of the Forensic Committee of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry and Fellow of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the Society for Biological Psychiatry.

That last one is really not a good thing – as you already now know.

It was Cleckley who described an atypical form of pellegra (now known as niacin deficiency) which was then endemic in Southern states. Then, in 1939 and 1941 they published on the use of Nicotinic Acid (Niacin or vitamin B3) as a treatment for abnormal mental states and psychiatric disorders.

He also launched the “identification” of those dastardly psychopaths – yet another obvious task his Round Table mentors set him to.

His book Mask of Sanity was about the identification of sociopath/anti-social so-called characteristics.

An example:

All researchers into psychopathy underline three qualities primarily with regard to this most typical variety: The absence of a sense of guilt for antisocial actions, the inability to love truly, and the tendency to be garrulous in a way which easily deviates from reality. A neurotic patient is generally taciturn and has trouble explaining what hurts him most. […]

Pretty thin, if you ask me.

But, the idea of a master deceiver secretly possessed of no moral or ethical restraints, yet behaving in public with excellent function, electrified American society and led to heightened interest in both psychological introspection and the detection of “hidden psychopaths” in society at large – except for…said as drily as possible here…detecting psychopaths like Cleckley apparently.

A PDF file of Cleckley’s book (originally published in 1941) is available here.

The interesting thing about L. Ron Hubbard’s listing out of the 12 characteristics of the anti-social personality is that he was right on point with the use of “anti-social” to mean sociopath. The PDF of Cleckley’s book that I linked to is the fifth edition, and in the intro it says:

Since the first edition of this book, revisions of the nomenclature have been made by the American Psychiatric Association.

The classification of psychopathic personality was changed to that of sociopathic personality in 1958.

In 1968 it was changed again to antisocial personality.

Hubbard obviously knew about the planned change of this before the general public of psychiatrists did! Yet another link showing his “inside” connections to staying in LOCKSTEP with the New World Order people’s “mental health” movements.

Note: A Mr. Hare, was heavily influenced by Cleckley’s Mask of Sanity, and did some nasty tortuous tests (on volunteers) to try and prove that Sociopaths have brains that don’t function the way “they are supposed to” – Jon Ronson goes into all this in some detail in his book The Psychopath Test.

One example that really stood out was that when anticipating an electric shock that he knows is coming, the sociopath doesn’t physically register fear or upset about it. This, Hare claims, is proof they are a sociopath.

The real psychopath here, Hare and the kind of people that would do this to others, was he upset or having any normal emotion about torturing these “sociopaths”?

No, he was HAPPY to do it!

That’s what I mean. That’s how stupid this logic is.A person who can control their fear, especially when they are volunteering, is not a sociopath because they can do that.

Besides, if we are going to talk “characteristics” here, let’s really talk characteristics. Which one do you think is more dangerous -the person who can control their fear when necessary, or the person who is PLEASED to torture and “experiment” on others?

Exactly.

And on that note, a few more points about Cleckley, our erstwhile Nicotinic Acid researcher –

He also practiced the barbaric and horrific treatment of “Coma Therapy” – where psychiatric patients would be repeatedly put into coma over several weeks through overdoses of insulin, metrazol or other drugs – with far too many “fatal complications” resulting.

In 1951* he also co-published case study research suggesting the use of electronarcosis for various conditions, a form of deep sleep therapy initiated by passing electric current through the brain, without causing seizures as in electroconvulsive therapy which he also used.

*ELECTRONARCOSIS IN A GENERAL HOSPITAL MARION M. ESTES; HERVEY M. CLECKLEY” Am J Psychiatry 1951;107:814-820.

And continued further barbaric treatments all the way into the 1980’s.

  • Thigpen. CH, Cleckley. HM: Electroconvulsive therapy with enhancement by pentylenetetrazol. Am J Social Psychiatry. 1984; 4:25-27
  • Thigpen C. H. and Cleckley, H. M.: A Modern Properly Administered Electroconvulsive Treatment, 1979. Presented at the American Psychiatric Association Convention, San Francisco, CA, May, 1980.

He even had his hand in trying to get the insanity laws “adjusted”.

You can see why he was chosen to be a quintessential Rhodes Scholar.

This is the man whose work Hubbard was following in the footsteps of. Horrifying as that is to discover, it fits perfectly.

#4 – Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, October 27, 2014, Niacin and Schizophrenia: History and Opportunity by Nick Fortino, PhD Candidate – Evidence for the Niacin Treatment of Schizophrenia

Vitamin B3 as a treatment for schizophrenia is typically overlooked, which is disconcerting considering that historical evidence suggests it effectively reduces symptoms of schizophrenia, and has the added advantage, in contrast to pharmaceuticals, of mild to no adverse effects (22-35). After successful preliminary trials treating schizophrenia patients with niacin, pilot trials of larger samples commenced in 1952 – reported in 1957 by Hoffer, Osmond, Callbeck, and Kahan.

Dr. Abram Hoffer began an experiment involving 30 patients who had been diagnosed with acute schizophrenia. Participants were given a series of physiological and psychological tests to measure baseline status and were subsequently assigned randomly to treatment groups. Nine subjects received a placebo, 10 received nicotinic acid, and 11 received nicotinamide (the latter two are forms of vitamin B3). All participants received treatment for 42 days, were in the same hospital, and received psychotherapy from the same group of clinicians. The two experimental groups were administered three grams of vitamin B3 per day. Each of the three treatment groups improved, but the two vitamin B3 groups improved more than the placebo group as compared to baseline measures. At one year follow up, 33% of patients in the placebo group remained well, and 88% of patients in the B3 groups remained well. These results inspired many subsequent trials, and those that replicated the original method produced similarly positive results.

There again – the same high dosages that Hubbard was doing.

I think that’s enough now, to give you a very good idea of just what Hubbard was really up to with this Dianezine project, and the later project called the Purification Rundown (1970’s) that also utilized high doses of Nicotinic Acid.

Dianezene Seized by FDA

and …

Nothing Happens

P. 87, Folder 2 PDF, CD #1, FDA declassified records; unnamed source who participated in Dianezene eperiments in November-December 1956; report to FDA February 25, 1969, responded to March 4, 1969 by Harry E. Dutts (sp?) Assistant to the Director of the Division of Case Guidance, Bureau of compliance.

FDA_seizes_dianezene_in_1958

The seizure action was uncontested and the tablets were destroyed.

What?!?

shock

Hubbard did not contest this? That’s a big red flag right there – he’s not exactly known for not taking on government institutions.

Even more interesting, the FDA did not pursue it at all, literally just destroyed the tablets and dropped the whole thing.

This, to me, really points to a big “hands-off” came down on this – probably from the CIA.

For both Hubbard and the FDA. In other words –

Drop it.

Period.

This as opposed to a much more in character huge attack scenario, that was done just a few years later with the whole e-meters seizure FDA case.

It takes on a kind of different light, almost as if it was to help build the cover of “whacky cult” back up – providing distancing from the CIA etc., and what Hubbard actually was doing with his handy corral of experimentation guinea-pigs aka scientologists.

It also attracted attention, and portrayed a sort of David-and-Goliath scene of the independent scientology heroes going up against the evil U.S. government. Meant to garner a “who are those people” type of interest, perhaps.

In fact, former FDA attorney Bud Loftus wrote that during the E-Meter trial, one of the Church’s lawyers [obviously a Guardian’s Office staff member] was a former Roman Catholic from the Philadelphia Catholic College, and that it was he who had them all decked out in Roman Catholic priest garb at the trials.

Bud spoke of that this man would occasionally telephone him during the trial to enquire about FDA’s interest in his Church.

During one conversation he said to me that he wanted the FDA to come back again and again against them because they needed us and other agencies persecuting them to attract more members!

Bud Loftus: An Irish-American’s Journey, by Bernard Loftus

As a side note, it’s interesting to watch a ditsy Scientology PR agent, Emily Watson, try and spin what happened with the seizure of Dianezene.

The first inaccurate reference concerns the Distribution Center in Washington, D.C. The FDA was not involved with the Church at that time; the Distribution Center was a separate corporation. The Distribution Center did not contest the FDA’s action, did not say the medicine was not misbranded, as it apparently had a wrong ingredient dosage on the label. The Distribution Center freely gave the Dianezene to the FDA. This was, however, no Church product.

– p.114 – 116, Cd #2, Vol 18 of 18 PDF, FDA declassified records; doc A.F. 41-186, Apr 11, 1973 letter from Emily Watson (Guardian’s Office PR, former wife of Deputy Guardian for Information Brian Roubinek) letter to The Office of Consumer Affairs FDA Harriet Shay from Ministry of Public Relations Church of Scientology California

Although technically she does get right that the seizure was actually not about misbranding (the FDA suddenly dropped that part), and it did have slightly wrong labelling of the dosages, the important part is that she tries to say that the Distribution Center had nothing to do with the Church.

FDA first became involved with Scientology in 1958 when the distribution center of the Founding Church of Scientology in Washington, D. C began selling a vitamin mixture called “dianezene” as a preventive in treatment for radiation sickness, which at the time was much feared by the public as a consequence from “fall-out” due to atomic weapons testing. In a seizure action, FDA charged that the medicine was falsely labeled, and some 21,000 tablets were destroyed upon an Order of the Federal Court.

– p.56 Cd #2, Vol 18 of 18 PDF, FDA declassified records; Feb 19, 1974 letter to Harriet Shay from Dan R. Beardsley Division of Compliance Office of Medical Devices

Now, see, in this next doc it’s clear that they did charge that it was misrepresented by the implied claims of effectiveness…but they dropped it! Dear ole Emily Watson seems to have failed to have noticed just how odd that was that they did so.

In 1956, we initiated seizure of a lot of “special antiradiation compound (dianezene)” tablets in possession of one of the Scientology organizations in Waahington, D. C. Among other things, we charged that the article was misrepresented by the implied claims of effectiveness for preventing end treating harmful effects caused by exposure to radioactivity. This seizure was terminated by a Default Decree of Condemnation and destruction of the tablets.

– P. 181, Cd #3, Box 2, Vol8 of 18 PDF, FDA declassified records; letter of June 5, 1968 to Mr. Cleets John Rogers from D. W. Johnson, Assistant to the Director of Case Guidance, Bureau of Resulatory Compliance

And here’s another doc showing that it was uncontested by Hubbard.

The seizure was un-contested and the tablets were destroyed.

So, what did happen?

In a later inspection to make sure Dianezene isn’t still being sold, the inspector details the earlier seizure history, and correctly traces the very close association of the Distribution Center with the Founding Church of D.C., with one of the signatories on its bank accounts being also a signatory of the FCDC accounts.

Inspection history –

HISTORY OF BUSINESS

On 4/8/58 an inspection was made of the Distribution Center, Inc., at which time that firm was found to be promoting a product called “Dianezene”.

Seizure was made of these tablets on 5/8/58.

Its function is to disseminate books, tapes of lectures by Hubbard and other printed matter, to members of the various organizations, and to the public. You can see in the following image of the relevant page of FDA records, that they did indeed charge it was not a cure for radiation, and that the label did not have the dosages correct (which the declassified FDA documents contain extensive chemical test documents showing that). But, they didn’t press that, and just destroyed the tablets.

FDA Dianezene judgement

Hubbard arranged for his Dianezene to be made by a rather fly-by-night scheister firm. The same year as the FDA seizures of Dianezine, Manuel Schindler was fined, as was Delmar Pharmocal by a Judge in New York.

  1. I find it most interesting that another cult founder who rose to prominence in the ’50s, Bill Wilson of Alcoholics Anonymous, also experimented with niacin to overcome strong drinking urges and life-long depression as well as LSD. You won’t find that in the Big Book of AA. I’ve always felt that he was an agent provocateur and that AA meetings were a hotbed of not only classic “double bind” mind control but surveillance and gang stalking as well. Great article(s) and research, I stumbled upon your site 3 hours ago & I’m still here! You’ve a new reader
